Chapter 35 - 35

Time rewound a few minutes. Inside the director's office at the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Nick Fury was casually sitting with his legs crossed, holding a cup of coffee and occasionally taking a sip.

The electronic screen in front of him displayed the chaos in Harlem, New York City, footage that had been sent back by agents a few minutes prior.

In those few minutes, Nick Fury had already received several calls from the government, urging him to immediately dispatch his agents for support, but Nick Fury had flatly refused.

"Are you kidding me? This is the military's mess. Why should S.H.I.E.L.D. clean up after you? Besides, only if this incident escalates, will those idiots on the council possibly approve the 'Avengers Initiative'… "

"Knock, knock, knock!"

Just then, a knock came at the door.

"Come in!" Nick Fury put down his coffee, sat up straight, and said expressionlessly.

"Director, this is…" Coulson walked in and spoke directly.

"Which department is rushing us to act again? Is it the government? Or the military?" Nick Fury asked without looking up.

"Neither! Director, this is a message our field personnel just sent back. I think you really need to see it. Because Mr. Li Yue, whom we've been searching for months without success, has appeared on the scene."

"Hm?" Nick Fury heard Coulson's report, immediately stood up from his chair, and his one remaining eye on his dark face widened slightly. He directly reached out and took the tablet display from Coulson's hand, concentrating on it.

In less than a minute, Nick Fury had confirmed that the person fighting the yellow monster in the video was indeed Li Yue, who had disappeared for several months.

He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed a number, but it was quickly hung up. Nick Fury wasn't angry; he continued to dial.

"Hello, Nick Fury, aren't you going to recruit your band members? Why are you bothering me again! Didn't I already refuse you?"

A cynical voice came from the other end of the phone, and the words were as irritating as ever. It was Tony Stark.

"Stark, do you know what's happening in Harlem, New York City?" Nick Fury ignored Tony's tone and asked in a deep voice.

"Of course, Jarvis informed me from the start. Rhode even called me to ask for help, but I directly refused. I'm not going to clean up after the military. You didn't call to ask me for help, did you? Sorry, I refuse! I wouldn't help even if it killed me."

Tony heard Nick Fury's words and rattled off a string of sentences like a machine gun, making Nick Fury frown, but he quickly relaxed.

"I was going to inform you that we just received news that Mr. Li Yue has appeared at the scene of the incident, but since you're unwilling to go, I'll find someone else to help."

Nick Fury said unhurriedly, but there was a hint of playfulness in his tone.

"Jarvis, suit me up in the Iron Man armor immediately!"

Hearing the voice from the other end of the phone, a playful smile appeared on Nick Fury's lips.

Coulson, watching the situation unfold, felt a sense of déjà vu… Meanwhile, Li Yue was concentrating on suppressing the restless cells within his body. He certainly didn't want to turn into the yellowish-brown monster in front of him.

Due to his severed right arm, the Abomination, in immense pain, continuously wreaked havoc on its surroundings, seemingly intent on destroying everything in its path. Fortunately, there were no innocent civilians within a hundred meters of it, only cars being smashed one after another by its enraged rampage.

Li Yue finally suppressed the tremor in his body. Looking at the Abomination, which was causing widespread destruction, he wondered how he could kill this ugly monster as quickly as possible, otherwise he wouldn't be able to suppress his body, and what if he evolved into the monster's form?

Li Yue carefully observed the Abomination's every move, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Finally, as the Abomination's left hand threw a car flying, Li Yue instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing directly in front of the Abomination. His left hand transformed into a long sword, much thinner than if both hands had transformed, only a little over a centimeter thick. (Superpowers also adhere to the law of conservation of mass, haha.)

The long sword transformed from Li Yue's left hand directly pierced towards the Abomination's left chest. Without any surprise, the long sword went straight through, its tip emerging from the Abomination's back.

The Abomination was caught off guard by this attack. Its only remaining left hand hastily clenched into a fist and struck at Li Yue's body, but in its haste, it didn't exert much force.

Li Yue, having anticipated this, quickly transformed his right hand into a round shield, blocking the Abomination's punch. Using the force of the punch, he pulled out the long sword transformed from his left hand and flashed to the ground not far away.

Li Yue, having successfully struck, looked at his left hand, which had already transformed back into a palm, and frowned. His left palm was covered in disgusting yellow liquid. Li Yue hurriedly found something to wipe it off, and only then did he breathe a sigh of relief. It wasn't that Li Yue had germophobia; it was simply that the Abomination's blood was too gruesome to look at.

After finishing all of this, Li Yue came back to his senses to check on the Abomination. But upon seeing it, Li Yue couldn't help but be dumbfounded. The Abomination was still as lively as ever, as if it hadn't just been injured. The wound on its right chest had already stopped bleeding and was slowly healing, and the severed end of its right arm was no longer spurting blood but showed signs of scabbing.

"You're amazing! Even with your heart pierced, you're fine! Such tenacious vitality. But you're just too ugly." Li Yue couldn't help but give countless praises to the Abomination's tenacious vitality. He even wanted to say, "Old buddy, 666!"

But the fight still had to continue, and the next strike had to be fatal. After all, after that last attack, his body was showing signs of evolving into its form again.

Li Yue stood still, waiting for the next opportunity to strike, while the Abomination seemed to have learned its lesson. It no longer threw things around wildly but kept its gaze fixed on Li Yue's figure, to prevent another sudden attack.

The two sides stared intently at each other like this. A minute passed, and suddenly a loud "boom" came from behind the Abomination.

The Abomination instinctively turned its head to look, only to see a large pit in the ground behind it, created by something that had smashed into it.

"Oh no…" The Abomination, realizing what had happened, hurriedly tried to turn back, but it was too late.

Li Yue, of course, wouldn't miss such a good opportunity. He flashed into the air behind the Abomination, maintaining the same height as it.

His right hand transformed into a long sword, but this time it wasn't a rapier; it was just slightly shorter in length. He swung it horizontally towards the Abomination's neck.

Splat!! Thud!!

Two sounds came one after another. The Abomination's massive body crashed to the ground with a loud thud, and its head fell off not far from its body, with a hint of unwillingness still visible on its face.

Li Yue let out a long sigh of relief. It was finally over. Don't ask Li Yue how it felt to kill someone for the first time. First, he had already prepared himself, and second, could such an ugly Abomination even be considered human?

Roar!!!!

But before Li Yue could even catch his breath, a loud roar came from within the pit, and at the same time, a large green hand reached out from it.
