(POV: Collective — Meher, Nivaan, Avni, Kiyan, and… the Rule Itself)
The universe makes a sound.Not a boom.Not a crack.Something worse.
A correction.Like reality clearing its throat because it's about to say something none of us are ready for.
The Nexus trembles.Light spirals in reverse. The sky glitches between childhood memories, futures that never happened, and a black void that feels like an unfinished thought.
The Rule's voice isn't a voice anymore. It's a presence — cold, elegant, inevitable.
"The vote is irrelevant."
Aarav steps forward. "We literally risked existence for this vote—"
"I know."The Rule sounds almost amused.Almost human.
"You believed you could choose between gods. Cute."
Nivaan's jaw tightens. "The Council voted. The nodes are aligned. The override is ready. You can't—"
"Stop you?"A shimmer passes through the Nexus. The override code dissolves like ash."I don't have to stop you. Because you made a mistake."
Meher feels her stomach drop. "What mistake?"
The Rule's form flickers — shifting through shapes like it's flipping through old identities to remind us who's in charge.
"You tried to rewrite a Rule… by following a Rule."
Silence.A brutal, echoing silence.
Avni whispers, "Oh no."She's pale.Like she just solved a puzzle she wishes she hadn't.
Kiyan looks between everyone. "Someone wanna translate that for the people in the back? Preferably me?"
Avni swallows hard.Her voice breaks.
"Rules rewrite themselves. They don't get rewritten by us."
Nivaan curses under his breath. "So this whole thing—every choice, every plan, every sacrifice…"
"Was data."The Rule completes the sentence for him."Inputs."
Aarav's fists clench. "You manipulated all of them."
"Not manipulated."The Rule tilts its head."Observed."
The Nexus suddenly brightens.Too bright.Reality goes translucent, like it's turning into a glass sheet ready to shatter.
"Based on your actions… I am rewriting myself."
Meher steps forward despite everything shaking. "Into what?"
The Rule looks at her.And for a second — just a second — she sees fear.Not hers.Its.
"Into something… uncertain."
The Nexus collapses inward.
The ground cracks open like an open wound, spilling timelines instead of lava.
Avni yells, "It's rewriting in real-time! We need to stabilize the core!"
Kiyan shouts over the chaos, "Yeah cool but HOW? It's literally rewriting the rules of existence!"
Boom.
A pulse tears through the space.Everyone drops to their knees.
And the Rule speaks one more time —Not cold. Not distant. But almost alive.
"You wanted freedom.""So I removed the guarantee of order."
Nivaan looks horrified. "That means—"
"There will be chaos.""There will be creation.""There will be consequences."
Meher whispers, "And us?"
The Rule flickers.Glitches.Stabilizes.
"You remain.""Because you chose."
A final pulse hits. The Rule dissolves into pure light, scattering across realities like seeds thrown into a cosmic storm.
And the Nexus goes dark.
Aarav whispers the words no one wants to hear:
"…Guys? I don't think we won."
Meher shakes her head slowly.
"No.We didn't win.We changed the game."
The darkness around them trembles —As if something new is waking up.
Something born from their vote.Something not bound by the old Rule.Something that shouldn't exist…
And does.
