Chapter 13 - Ruins Exploration

"Hmm, maybe I can find something there," he mumbled as he began walking toward the largest building.

Its massive door was half-buried in black sand—but atleast, he can chip away at it creating enough space for him to squeeze in.

"Its really abandoned, not even monsters are here" As he walked the only sound came was of wind , creating a haunting atmosphere.

His footsteps were muffled by the shifting sand beneath his feet, making the place eerily silent—no monsters, no movement, just the whispering wind.

"I hope there are no ghosts here" Reaching the big building he looked around.

A wide avenue stretched from the building as its center, once perhaps a grand main street, now ruined by time and buried in uneven dunes.

What little architecture remained hinted at anpowerful Civilisation—massive statues of armored figures half-sunken into the sand, their faces eroded but their armors and Swords in perfect condition.

Seeing this oddity, Michael walked closer to it.

Mike observe them closely as he mumbled.

"Hmm? This doen't look like it is made up of the stones or rather its not an decoration sword."

"It have mana in it, is it a Artifact?" Mike eyes widened as he looked at sword.

He stepped closer and used Appraisal on it.

[Black Mithril Knight Sword]

The sword perfectly conducts both mana and aura, making it a powerful weapon for both Aura and Magic Knights.

"The fuck? what was this place who were rich enough to use real Epic grade artifacts as decoration?" His eyes widened as he saw the Epic grade. This sword could easily be sold for half an billion!

"Damn… such a good sword," Mike muttered, as he toched the handle.

The moment his hand touched the hilt, the statue's hand loosened—and the sword shrank instantly, enough to fit in his hand.

He blinked, surprised. "It's better than my current one."

He compared it to his Red Flame Sword, then grinned and swapped them out, equipping the Black Mithril Knight Sword instead.

"And there are more statues like this," he said, glancing around.

On both sides of the avenue, the sand-covered statues continued down the lane—at least four lines of them, with two such statues there on each lane.

Though the further from the building the more buried they are.

"If these are all equipped with weapons like this one…" he murmured, a mix of excitement and caution flashing in his eyes, "then this place might be more dangerous—and more valuable—than I thought."

"The armor is also an Artifact" He then remembered.

"If the sword's this good…" he muttered, turning his gaze to the statue's armor.

He lifted his hand and activated Appraisal once again, his eyes reflecting the system screen once again.

[Description:]

The standard battle armor of the Mirage Empire's elite knights—those who guarded the ancient capital's last gate.

Forged from Black Mithril refined with Dark Crystal essence, this armor was said to resonate with the soul of its wearer, amplifying both protection and presence. ]

"As I thought," Mike's eyes lit up seeing it was another equipment not just an decorative piece.

"I am going to get all of them" he mumbled excited as he begun to work.

He hurriedly began clearing away the sand around the statue, his movements quick and precise.

It took him nearly half an hour, but eventually, the full figure of the knight was revealed—an imposing, armor-clad warrior standing nearly three times taller than him.

"Uh… this thing is huge," Mike muttered, tilting his head back to look up at it. "The sword had a Size Manipulation skill, but this armor doesn't seem to show one…"

He rubbed his chin, thinking. Then, deciding to test something, he placed his hand on the knight's greaves and poured mana into it.

A soft hum filled the air as faint runes began to glow across the armor's surface.

Slowly—inch by inch—the massive armor began to shrink, compressing in size until it perfectly matched Mike's height and build, even the statue was shrunk in size.

Mike's eyes widened in delight.

"So it does have a self-adjustment enchantment… I knew it."

He grinned, admiring the now human-sized armor gleaming faintly under the faint light of the ruins.

"This look badass," he said with satisfaction, already imagining how incredible it would look once equipped.

The armor, now standing upright before him, gleamed faintly under the sunlight.

It was one beautiful piece of work he have seen ever.

The whole armor was picth black with golden lines along its joints giving it an badass look, not to mention the cloak behind it with same picth black shining fabric and a crest on it.

"Probably thats the crest of the Empire or this Knight order" he mumbled squinting at the crest.

"Along with the sword, it's a proper knight set," Mike smiled happily as he looked around and said, "And there are nine more such sets here."

It took Mike three whole days to collect the other sets. Now, in his inventory, there were Nine Black Mithril Knight Sets and Eight Black Mithril Knight Swords lying neatly stored.

Plus thanks to him using the Reversal Engine of three days on the armor and sword he now have One Silver Mithril Knight armor set, and matching Silver Mithril Knight Sword.

Unlike the Black Mithril ones they get increased power in Day time.

As for the tenth Black Mithril Knight Sword, he always kept it outside so that he can fight at any moment notice.

He also gained a new skill during that time:

[Digging]: Increases the power of digging by 30%.

He had acquired this skill on the second day. As he had learned, if one repeatedly performs an action with enough focus and effort, a related skill can manifest. His very first skill earned through hard work—was Digging.

"Hmm, now I want to dig this whole place… but I don't have enough time," Mike mumbled as he turned toward the large building ahead.

If not for the lack of time, he won't have minded being a digger here, but in three months the exam for Academy entrance is scheduled, he need to reach the peak of Rank 1 just to qualify to take part in it.
