Chapter 27 - Shot Her Own Foot
The knock at the door came again. Rosabel stepped forward while Idalia inched back.
Rosabel had caught that and she looked back at Idalia sharply as if she could tell that she was lying about something.
Idalia's heart racing in her chest was all she could hear. Her hands tightened around Arik and her eyes moved around the room, trying to search for a way to leave this place.
But she couldn't find any way.
She shouldn't have come here. She should have run in another direction. Anything would have been better than this. Why had she done this?
There was a third knock but it had been caught short too quickly.
For a moment, silence reigned, and Idalia dared to think that he had probably left.
She and Rosabel exchanged a look but a pounding at the door rocked the room.
Idalia flinched. She hurried to the window and her hands moved frantically around the iron structure installed there.
"Open the door. I can hear you."
