Chapter 2 - A New Beginning

"Yh, he's a baby boy of course," Levi heard as he slowly began to regain consciousness.

He finally opened his eyes and found himself in the arms of a beautiful woman with crystal-blue eyes. Looking around, he could see two other people in the room — an older man who looked to be in his fifties and a young man sitting slightly opposite the woman.

"He's finally awake, thank goodness," Draven said, standing up and walking toward Mia.

"Isn't he the cutest?" Mia said as she played with the baby's nose, noticing Draven beside her.

"How did you find this child, Draven?" the healer asked gently, though his tone carried a bit of unease.

Draven and Mia looked up at him instantly. Mia's gaze lingered for a moment before she turned to Draven.

"I went to the stream as usual to fish when I saw the baby in a basket floating down. And worst of all, he wasn't responding," Draven said as he recalled the event. "That's when I rushed down here with him and decided to call you. I hope there isn't any problem."

The healer stayed silent for a while before finally speaking.

"Well… do you plan to keep him?" he asked slowly, walking across the room and touching the flower on the table.

Mia and Draven exchanged quiet glances, both confused by his strange question.

"Yes, we'll keep him. But I hope there's no problem, right?" Draven said, starting to feel suspicious.

"No, there's absolutely no problem. It's just that…" the healer said as he slowly walked toward the baby without saying another word.

Mia instinctively tried to move the baby away, but she was a bit too late.

"This," the healer said calmly, pointing at the half-dragon mark on Levi's forearm.

The mark glowed faintly.

"What about it? Maybe it's just a tattoo from his former home," Draven said, leaning closer. It didn't look that special — just a dragon mark engraved on his arm.

The healer shook his head. "We don't know why they tried to kill him, but from what I saw while removing the poison, that symbol is magical."

"Magical?" Draven asked, surprised, but the healer cut him off before he could say more.

"Look, I don't know what the symbol means," he said seriously. "But I have a feeling the execution attempt was tied to it. Just be careful, that's all."

With that, the healer stood up and began to leave.

Draven turned to Mia, then followed him outside.

"Wait, what are they talking about? The symbol? I don't even know why it's on my hand, but this healer looks serious." Levi thought, worried.

Outside, the healer turned to Draven. "Look, Draven, don't keep this child," he said firmly.

"What? Why shouldn't I? I have no child of my own, and this baby needs someone," Draven said, looking at him in disbelief.

"This baby might be cursed. That's the only reason anyone would try to kill him," the healer said boldly, not even glancing at him.

"Wait, what? Are you crazy? He's just a child—"

"Listen to me," the healer snapped. "I didn't heal him. I don't have that power. I only aided his recovery. As for the poison, it was already neutralized — and only noble magic could do that."

Silence hung between them for a moment before Draven finally spoke.

"Well, I don't know," he said quietly, deep in thought.

"We've been friends for a long time, Draven. I won't lie to you. This is just my advice — it's your decision to make. I just hope you won't regret it later," the healer said softly before walking away.

Inside, Mia was smiling as she touched Levi's nose playfully.

"Aren't you just cute?" she said warmly. "Don't worry, Mama loves you."

"Wow, that means she's already accepted me. Thank goodness I'm safe… and this really tickles," Levi thought, chuckling lightly.

Seeing Levi's reaction, Mia laughed and played with him even more. After a while, she lifted him up and set him gently on her thighs, looking into his eyes.

"Don't worry, I'll be your mom from today. I'll take care of you," she said softly, touching his nose again as he laughed.

Her face brightened even more. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been this happy.

Draven stood by the door, a mix of emotions running through him as he watched them.

After a while, Mia noticed him.

"Draven, what are you doing there?" she asked, still smiling down at the baby.

"Well, I was thinking, Mia…" Draven said as he stepped closer.

"Thinking of what?" she asked, still focused on Levi.

"I—" Draven began, but Mia interrupted.

"I was also thinking of something — what should we name our son?" she said, lifting Levi slightly into the air.

"Well, I was thinking of Levi. That sounds like a good name, don't you think?" Mia said with a small smile, unaware of Draven's serious face.

After a pause, Draven sighed. "Yeah, Levi's a solid name, but—"

"Perfect name, dear! You're a genius!" Mia said cheerfully, cutting him off again as she carried Levi toward her room.

"Wow… funny how that's actually my real name," Levi thought, laughing to himself.

"Wait—" Draven tried to speak, but Mia spoke first.

"I need to change his diapers. I'll be back soon!" she said quickly, disappearing into her room.
