Chapter 2 - The New Rival (continuation of My Handsome CEO and I)

Chapter 2

As I walked into the Thompson Inc. building on my first day, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. The sleek skyscraper towered above me, a symbol of the corporate world I was about to enter.

I made my way to the HR department, where I was greeted by a friendly woman named Karen. She handed me a badge and a thick folder of paperwork, explaining the company's policies and benefits.

After completing the necessary formalities, Karen led me to the marketing department. As we walked, I couldn't help but notice the modern decor and the bustling atmosphere.

We reached a large conference room, where the marketing team was waiting for me. Alexander, the CEO, was already there, chatting with a few colleagues.

As I entered, he looked up and smiled, his eyes locking onto mine. "Good morning, Emily. Welcome to Thompson Inc."

The team welcomed me warmly, and we began going over the company's marketing strategy. I was impressed by their creativity and passion, and I felt a sense of belonging.

As the meeting wrapped up, Alexander approached me. "Hey, Emily, can I have a word with you?"

I nodded, my heart skipping a beat. We stepped into his office, and he closed the door behind us.

"I wanted to check in and see how you're settling in," he said, his eyes cr crling at the corners.

I smiled, feeling a sense of ease. "It's been great so far. The team's fantastic."

Alexander nodded, his gaze lingering on mine. "I'm glad to hear that. I think you're going to do great things here, Emily."

As he spoke, I felt a spark of connection, like he was seeing me, not just the new marketing executive.

The moment hung in the air, until Alexander cleared his throat, breaking the spell. "I'll let you get settled in. If you need anything, my door's always open."

I nodded, smiling, feeling a sense of excitement about the possibilities.

As I settled into my new role, I noticed a new face in the marketing department. Her name was Sophia, a sleek and polished woman with a sharp smile.

"Hi, I'm Sophia," she said, extending a manicured hand. "I'll be working on the same projects as you, Emily."

I smiled, feeling a hint of curiosity. "Nice to meet you, Sophia."

As we worked together, I noticed Sophia seemed to be keeping a close eye on me, often asking about my progress and offering "helpful" suggestions.

One day, as we were working on a project, Sophia leaned in, her voice low. "So, Emily, how's it going with Alexander?"

I felt a flutter in my chest, unsure how to respond. "What do you mean?"

Sophia's smile grew wider. "Oh, come on. Everyone knows he's interested in you. You're the new favorite around here."

I laughed, trying to brush it off. "I think you're reading too much into it, Sophia."

But as I glanced over at Alexander, I caught him looking at me, his eyes lingering for a moment.

Sophia followed my gaze, her smile growing sharper. "Just be careful, Emily. Alexander's not the type to play with."

As she walked away, I felt a shiver run down my spine. What did Sophia mean? And what was her game?
