Chapter 14 - The Dream Part-2

The moment I stepped inside the palace, it was far different from the outside exterior But I still felt a sense of dread, like something was wrong, because despite the slightly warmer feeling inside, no one was home. I didn't see any stuff that was or that should be working here. I didn't see any lights or Signs of Life in here and I could see some blood splatters on the walls some of the paintings that looked of family portraits were slashed; others were smashed and ripped to bits This scene really felt like something out of a horror movie, but I can't linger; I have to carry on to find some answers or to satisfy my curiosity about why I am here in the strange room, so I carried myself all the way until I stood in front of a staircase. The stairs were covered in a high-quality red material that looked similar to a rug. I bent down to touch the fabric slightly; it was tearing away but still in slightly good condition. These people must have been really rich to have such high-quality stuff, but no matter, I should continue my adventure, and that I did. I walked up the stairs, and the feeling of dread still followed me as I went further up. My hands started to rub my side arm because of how cold I was feeling.

I stopped walking when I reached the top of the stairs; it led me to a hallway that had multiple rooms. How the hell was I supposed to explore all of this? But then again, when I consider maybe one of these rooms has the answer that I'm looking for,

So I stepped into the first room; it was plain and simple and carried the presence of elegance. There was one single king-size bed, one that I have never seen because of how big it was, but I didn't dare to sleep in it or try to touch it.

Still, instead, I decided to back away. This room clearly didn't have any artifacts or any letters or anything remotely important that I could use, so I went out and then walked into the second room I came upon. This room seemed to be the bathroom, and a pretty cool one at that. The toilet flushes very differently from how I used to flush mine in the modern-day world. This toilet was white and short and had a lever that you can pull to flush it—that is, only if you don't have any magic abilities. No surprise, this is a magic toilet, and I could tell this because of the note that was left on the toilet. How convenient these people were. I walked over to the shower and it was a very complicated thing to work through because how does a showerhead not have a round head with small tiny holes in it for the water to spray out Instead, it carried just a small nozzle with control panels at the bottom instead of a handle to turn it on. These people must have been really rich for something like this but nonetheless, I should carry on I won't get any answers searching through a bathroom unless I have the urge to suddenly go, but I don't, and I would rather not get a super curse or a ghost hunting me if I suddenly use their bathroom without asking. It seems strange, especially since these people who lived here must have been long gone dead, but you never know, and I wasn't willing to take any chances. I didn't want to be haunted or killed by a ghost; that death is even more shameful than how I died previously.

"Well, there's nothing here for me, so I'll just move on from this room. I just hope I don't have to explore all these rooms because there seems to be like a hundred of them. I take back the 'it must be nice to be this kind of rich because you need a GPS to find your way around this maze.'"

I held my head down while she canted slightly. My leg started to feel a little bit swollen because even though I haven't walked very far, it still felt like I was walking for miles trying to explore this huge place and its rooms just to find some kind of clue or answers Maybe, but I'm starting to think, is it really worth it if I'm killing myself off by doing this? I am a lazy bookworm; I am meant for just reading books and analyzing them, not running in circles chasing down a stupid answer that I may not even find.

"Maya... come to me. Come find me."

"Come... to me, my dear beloved daughter...."

What?? Who's there

A voice that I had never heard before was calling me; it sounded like a man's voice, probably in his early thirties.

"Step. Step."

As if I were in a trance-like state, my feet started to move on their own. I couldn't control my body at that point. It must've been the weird voice responsible. If so, why me?

My legs didn't stop until they reached the front of an old, large, rusty door that had handles on each side, but they were two circular rings. My hand gripped one and pushed the door open. That was when I stumbled on a large, tall man with a broad back. He definitely was in his early thirties but had the looks of a young teenage boy. It's impressive, I won't lie, but as soon as I went for his shoulders, he grabbed my wrist and held it tight enough to bruise and then spoke.

"My daughter, please come find me... I'm sorry. Please come find me."

What...who...are you?

"Please let me go; I'm not your daughter. It's a mistake; I'm not pleased."

"YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER, AND YOU WILL FIND ME BEFORE I FIND YOU AND KILL YOUR MOTHER NOW!!!!"

Those words are what quickly snapped me back to reality. I was panting heavily, clearly out of breath, like I just ran a marathon down the street. I held my head in my hands. I couldn't understand at the time why it was that the words of that man brought me so much great fear, and what did he mean by "find him before he kills my mom and siblings"? They weren't mine, to be exact, but a soft spot was there for them, so I had to get to the bottom of this, like I already didn't have a lot of things on my plate. Sigh.
