"You just let her go?" Tamagane asked, perched in Hikari's arms. "She's a suspect!"
"She's just a guard. Her boss, 'Inugami,' is up there talking to Kaede. It's just some personal drama," Alistair explained.
"Inugami?" Hikari frowned. "That name sounds familiar..."
"Probably just a common title," Alistair said. He noticed Tamagane had gone silent. Her usual "meow" suffix was missing.
"Tamagane? You okay?"
"I... I don't know that name. It's probably nothing important, meow," Tamagane said, her voice trembling slightly.
"You skipped the 'meow' again," Alistair noted suspiciously. "And you're shaking."
"I'm not, meow!"
"Right. And the resentment I felt earlier... it was directed right at you. So, what's the story? Did you eat her parents? Turn her ancestors into a stew?"
"Stop with the dark fantasies," Tamagane sighed, her face hardening. "Inugami is my ex-girlfriend. We broke up a long time ago. I haven't seen her since."
"An ex? All that murderous intent just because of a breakup?" Alistair scratched his head. Women were terrifying.
