Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. The Hokage's Shadow

[The war with the Hidden Cloud Village has finally drawn to a close. On his way back to the Leaf Village, Namikaze Minato is ambushed by you.]

[Facing the infamous "Yellow Flash," your defeat is a foregone conclusion. This marks your first failed mission. Yet, despite the overwhelming power gap, you aren't killed by Minato. Instead, you manage to escape, wounded, and make it back to the Root organization.]

[Your mission failure disappoints Danzō, but he doesn't punish you. He simply tells you to focus on recovering.]

'Huh?'

Yuta was fully prepared to have been instantly killed by Minato. He never expected the situation to have such a twist.

'He actually survived? And even escaped from Minato himself? Am I that strong in this simulated life?'

[During your recovery period, Namikaze Minato ascends to become the Fourth Hokage. Just as you begin to despair, thinking your chance for revenge is lost, Minato dies just as abruptly as he appeared.]

[A mysterious masked man unleashes the Nine-Tails. In order to seal the beast, Minato and his wife, Uzumaki Kushina, both perish in battle.]

[With the village suddenly leaderless, Danzō seizes the opportunity to aggressively push for the Hokage's seat.]

[Leveraging the considerable prestige he gained during the war—second only to Minato himself—Danzō successfully blocks the Third Hokage's return to power and becomes the Fifth Hokage.]

'You have got to be kidding me… Danzō actually succeeded in becoming Hokage?'

'How accurate is this simulation, anyway?'

[Around this time, the Hidden Cloud Village, perceiving the Leaf's weakness, kidnaps Hyūga Hiashi's daughter, Hyūga Hinata.]

[Eager to assert his authority to the entire shinobi world, the newly appointed Danzō dispatches you—now fully recovered and even stronger—to retrieve her.]

[This time, you execute the mission flawlessly. Not only do you successfully rescue Hinata, but you also annihilate the entire Cloud squad.]

[Hyūga Hiashi is profoundly grateful and from that point on, throws his full support behind Danzō. The Hidden Cloud Village, however, is furious and demands that Danzō hand over the perpetrator. But you, now one of Danzō's most trusted men, are not for sale.]

[With an iron will, Danzō refuses to surrender you to the Cloud, even declaring that the Leaf is not afraid of another war. Ultimately, the Cloud doesn't press the issue. After all, Orochimaru, still conducting secret experiments with Danzō, has not yet defected, the Leaf's military strength hasn't completely bottomed out.]

[After a long, drawn-out war of words, the matter is quietly dropped.]

[Touched by his leader's loyalty, you willingly carry out another secret mission for Danzō: to procure the prized eyes of the Uchiha clan.]

'Seriously.… So, in this simulation, I'm just Danzō's loyal attack dog.'

Indoctrinated into the Root at seven years old—sure, maybe there wasn't a cursed seal—but years of relentless brainwashing would make this kind of fanatical loyalty the norm.

'...What am I thinking? That's not normal at all!'

'Who in their right mind brainwashes a seven-year-old to this extent?'

'Damn you, Danzō. You monster.'

[Although you successfully secure several pairs of Sharingan for Danzō, his hunger is not sated. His attitude towards the Uchiha grows increasingly hostile, eventually pushing the clan to the brink of rebellion.]

[Aided by a mysterious man claiming to be Uchiha Madara and the clan's own prodigy, Uchiha Itachi, the Uchiha clan is massacred.]

[In the relative calm following these successive upheavals, the old, burning desire for revenge rekindles within you. You approach Danzō once more, asking for permission to kill Rasa and avenge your father.]

[After some consideration, Danzō finally agrees to your request and assigns Orochimaru and his subordinate to assist you.]

[With the help of Orochimaru and Kimimaro, you finally corner and kill Rasa, avenging your father at last. However, the violent, drawn-out battle draws the attention of the Sand Village's shinobi.]

[During the ensuing manhunt, the One-Tail's Jinchūriki goes on a rampage. Remembering Danzō's grand ambition to unify the shinobi world, you make a split-second decision: you will capture the One-Tail and bring its host back to the Leaf.]

[But you made a fatal miscalculation: you underestimated the raw, overwhelming power of a Tailed Beast.]

[Kimimaro falls, his body succumbing to his incurable Kekkei Genkai disease at the worst possible moment. Orochimaru abandons the fight to save his own skin. And you... you are left gravely wounded, hiding in the vast, unforgiving desert.]

[In the end, your injuries prove too severe. You die alone, buried in the sand.]

The scenes in Yuta's mind shattered. His eyes fluttered open, returning to the present.

[This Life Simulation has ended.]

[Age at Death: 29.]

[Final Simulation Evaluation: A.]

[Rewards Granted: A substantial increase in Chakra reserves, Expert Chakra Control, Innate Talent for Wind Release, Root Organization Stealth Techniques, Root Organization Assassination Techniques, Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, Body Flicker Technique.]

As the voice in his head faded, Yuta was flooded with a surge of potent chakra, far greater than anything he had ever felt.

'This feeling... is incredible!'

Even if the simulation's had been... questionable, the final rewards were undeniably fantastic.

He had previously used chakra paper to test his affinity and found it was Wind, Fire, and Lightning.

With this new innate talent for Wind Release, his training in wind-style jutsu would be almost twice as effective.

Furthermore, the expert chakra control meant he could skip those tedious, old-fashioned training exercises like tree-climbing and water-walking.

Of course, the most pleasant surprise was the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu. While his current chakra reserves still couldn't compare to a monster like Naruto, as long as he kept simulating, he would eventually amass a comparable amount.

After these two simulations, Yuta noticed that a chakra increase seemed to be a guaranteed baseline reward.

The difference was that a higher simulation evaluation likely meant a more substantial chakra boost.

Whether this was true or not would require further experimentation.

Besides checking the rewards, Yuta also carefully reviewed the entire simulation to summarize the lessons learned.

He hadn't bothered last time because there was nothing to summarize—getting blown up by a paper bomb didn't offer much insight. But this time was different.

In the end, he reached a conclusion.

To live a better life, he needed to stay as far away from Danzō as possible.

His entire simulated life consisted of nothing but training, executing missions, and listening to Danzō's brainwashing.

As for supporting and helping Danzō become Hokage... forget it! Not a chance! absolutely impossible!
