"So you believe you're an idiot, correct?"

I gave a slow nod. "Absolutely."

She mirrored my movement with her own nod. "Your assessment is accurate." I shot her a withering look, but she remained focused on her clipboard, either oblivious to my glare or deliberately ignoring it. She exhaled heavily, massaging her temples. "You're utterly hopeless, Jessica."

I crossed my arms defensively, attempting to appear unbothered, though her words struck deep. "That hurts."

"I genuinely have no idea how to handle you anymore. This pattern of self-sabotage will destroy you eventually. Earlier this year, it was drinking and meaningless hookups, but now it's something else entirely..."

Another heavy sigh escaped her lips, and suddenly I felt like a child being reprimanded. Jenny and I were the same age, yet here I sat feeling small and foolish.

"I can't even find the words to describe it."
