Cornelia's POV
When David's mouth crashed against mine, shock froze me in place. I couldn't respond, couldn't move, but he didn't seem to care. His lips worked desperately against mine while his hands trembled violently.
Every nerve in my body screamed at me to kiss him back, but I forced that desperate need down deep.
He had no right to waltz back into my world after a year of silence and claim me like this. I wouldn't allow it.
Summoning every ounce of willpower I possessed, I pressed my palms against his chest and shoved hard. The unexpected force sent him stumbling backward, and the dangerous gleam in his dark eyes sent ice through my veins.
"What the hell do you think you're—"
Before I could finish, he was on me again, his mouth crashing down with renewed fury. This time I sank my teeth into his lower lip until copper flooded my tongue.
The moment he jerked away, my hand flew across his face with enough force to make my palm sting.
