Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: One Shot, One Hillman

On the way to Mondstadt, the four of them chatted as they walked.

Their conversation eventually turned to the purpose of their journey, and Paimon revealed that Lumine was looking for her brother.

"Oh, you're looking for your family… How about I help you put up missing person posters once I'm done with my current task?" Amber enthusiastically offered to help Lumine.

Paimon, curious, asked Amber about the task she was originally supposed to carry out.

"Actually, it's nothing much, just clearing out Hilichurls." It wasn't a secret mission, so Amber openly told the three of them.

"Hilichurls?" Shao Yun and Lumine said the three words in unison.

"Yes, Hilichurls, a type of monster. While they aren't very threatening, they can still cause trouble for citizens," Amber explained in detail about Hilichurls.

"I don't know what's been going on lately, but recently, Hilichurls have been approaching the city. My mission this time is to clear out their camps," Amber sighed.

"Do you need our help?" Paimon kindly offered, "Lumine and Shao Yun are both very strong, they might be able to help you."

Although Shao Yun wanted to complain about Paimon roping them into work, he had a change of heart, realizing he also wanted to test his current strength.

After all, with Fire Element enchantment, the power should definitely be enhanced, right?

"Yes, we can help you, it'll save you from running back and forth," Lumine strongly agreed with Paimon.

"This, is that okay? Won't it be too much trouble…?" Amber still had some reservations. Asking the Traveler to help her with her own mission felt a bit…

"No need to be so polite, it's just a small favor," Shao Yun also nodded in agreement. After all, it was a combat lesson, and there was no harm in it.

Seeing Amber still hesitant, Shao Yun used concern for Amber as an excuse.

"What's there to feel bad about? If you really work yourself to the point of not being able to breathe, what if you encounter danger?"

"Indeed…" This statement convinced Amber.

"But I can't let you work for free, that won't do," Amber lowered her gaze and pondered.

Suddenly, Amber had an epiphany and thought of a good idea, "How about this? Once we clear out the Hilichurl camp, I'll give everyone gifts as a reward."

Since Shao Yun had already said so, Amber continued speaking along with his words.

"Yay!" Paimon immediately got excited when she heard about gifts.

So it was decided.

The group followed Amber to the Hilichurl camp.

Upon reaching the target area, Amber signaled everyone to crouch and move slowly.

Arriving at the Hilichurl camp, a Hilichurl was patrolling back and forth.

Amber was about to act when Shao Yun stopped her.

"Leave it to me."

"Ah? This…" Amber was very concerned, but Shao Yun revealed the God's Eye at his waist.

"I just got a God's Eye, I want to see how it helps me."

"Alright then, but don't push yourself too hard. If you can't beat them, come back quickly. The Traveler and I will be right behind you."

"Don't worry, I can beat them in close combat." He clenched his fist.

This made Amber's mouth twitch slightly, and she looked at him with a hint of embarrassment, recalling the time she had bumped into him.

"Indeed…"

Shao Yun walked straight out and shouted at the patrolling Hilichurl, attracting its attention.

The patrolling Hilichurl charged forward, swinging its fists.

Watching the creature, which was as tall as his thigh, charge at him, Shao Yun didn't waste any time. Without even activating Death God's Eye, he raised his hand, pulled out the single-action cowboy revolver from his holster, and pulled the trigger.

As the God's Eye emitted a red glow, a bullet filled with Fire Element shot from the barrel, exploding in the Hilichurl's chest.

The Hilichurl instantly turned to ashes, returning to the Ley Line.

"Wow, the power is good, almost like a high-explosive revolver bullet," Shao Yun evaluated internally, "But the power seems to be even stronger."

After all, in the game, characters who can instantly kill monsters with an enchanted normal attack without vaporizing or melting them are indeed rare.

Having dealt with the patrolling Hilichurl guarding the entrance, Shao Yun strode into the Hilichurl camp as if it were his own home.

Upon closer inspection, they were all ordinary Hilichurls; some were sitting around a bonfire, others were wandering around the camp, and there was only one Hilichurl Marksman standing guard on a watchtower.

As expected, it was the beginner stage; the monsters were all so simple and unpretentious.

The Hilichurl on the watchtower was the first to spot Shao Yun's appearance and let out a cry, which immediately caused all the Hilichurls to stir, as someone had come right to their doorstep.

Without delay, he raised his hand and fired a shot at the Hilichurl Marksman on the watchtower.

Then he walked to the entrance of the Hilichurl camp, held a gun in each hand, and activated Death God's Eye.

A ticking sound like a clock echoed in his ears, and the Hilichurls in front of him seemed to freeze.

He immediately opened fire with rapid shots.

In Amber, Lumine, and Paimon's eyes, Shao Yun's hand movements were so fast they seemed to be still. If it weren't for the sound of gunshots and the Hilichurls falling to the ground and returning to the Ley Line, they would have thought Shao Yun had dealt with the Hilichurls just by standing there.

There were only a few Hilichurls in the small camp to begin with, and in no time, he sent all of them back to the Ley Line.

"Simple as that…" Shao Yun did a gun flourish and holstered both revolvers.

He turned and waved at the three, who were already dumbfounded.

"Alright, it's all taken care of."

Amber looked at all of this in disbelief. It took no more than a few seconds, she only heard a few gunshots, and then it was over? Although the small size of the camp was a factor, it was still too fast.

"Wow, Mr. Shao Yun, you're amazing!" Amber's eyes widened as she looked at Shao Yun in disbelief.

Her initial worries instantly vanished, replaced by admiration. Shao Yun's strength far exceeded her expectations; just based on his firing speed, most people couldn't compare.

Lumine and Paimon exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. Although they knew their question was silly, Paimon still asked,

"You're not hurt… are you…?" Paimon asked, simply trying to make conversation.

Seeing the three of them looking as if they didn't know what to say, Shao Yun placed his right hand over his mouth, lightly clenched his fist, and coughed.

"Well, now that this Hilichurl camp is cleared, shouldn't we…" He looked at Amber, raising an eyebrow, signaling her to quickly pick up the conversation.

"Ah, yes, yes, yes! The Hilichurl camp is cleared, let's quickly return to Mondstadt. Not only because of the dragon, but also because I promised to treat you to a meal!" Amber swept away the awkward atmosphere from earlier and said with full energy.

Leaving the Hilichurl camp, they arrived at Windrise, looking at the stone bridge before them. Once they crossed this bridge, they would reach "beginner's village" Mondstadt.

Shao Yun walked on the bridge, looking at Windrise beside it. He had seen moats before, but this was his first time seeing a moat-like lake. He recalled how, when he played the game back then, he didn't take the bridge and tried to swim across, and as expected, he drowned immediately.

Just as Shao Yun was lost in nostalgic memories of his noob days, the group of four stepped onto the land of Mondstadt, in the center of the lake.

He saw the tall city walls, the spacious City Gate, the banners of the Knights of Favonius hanging on either side of the City Gate, the stone emblem of the Lion of the South above the main gate, and the Knights standing guard on both sides of the entrance.

Shao Yun felt a sensation in his mind, pulled out a small notebook, and began to sketch.

Actually, Shao Yun couldn't draw at all, but since he had transmigrated, it made sense that he might suddenly have a flash of inspiration and awaken some skill.

Amber watched Shao Yun's actions and said nothing. The City Gate of Mondstadt wasn't some important facility of the Knights of Favonius.

Moreover, many painters came to Mondstadt for inspiration and would also draw the City Gate.

Amber, Lumine, and Paimon waited quietly for Shao Yun to finish drawing.

The moment he finished drawing, he looked up and saw the gazes of the three, realizing he seemed to have delayed them. He put away his notebook and scratched his cheek.

"Sorry, I held you up…"

"It's alright." Amber waved her hand, cleared her throat, and proudly introduced the city to the three of them.

"Now, allow me to reintroduce…"

"The City of Wind and Dandelions, the City of Freedom—"

"Traveler protected by the Knights of Favonius, welcome to Mondstadt."
