Chapter 312 - Chapter 309

After the excitement of the first day's introduction, Roy called Lupin and Sirius aside in his office.

"Remus," Roy began, "you'll be taking Defence Against the Dark Arts for grades 5 through 7 this year. Sirius, you'll handle grades 1 through 4. I want both of you to focus on building their skills, but remember—this arrangement is only for this year."

Lupin nodded, his calm demeanor reflecting his usual thoughtfulness."Understood, Roy. I'll make sure the older students are prepared for whatever comes their way."

Sirius grinned, stretching his arms."And the little ones won't even know what hit them—figuratively, of course."

Roy then glanced at Snape, who was standing near the doorway, observing the conversation with visible discomfort."Severus," Roy said, casually, "don't worry—Lupin and Sirius are only temporary this year. You can resume your role next year if you want."

Snape's lip twitched in what could almost be called relief, though his eyes betrayed lingering irritation."Temporary or not," he muttered, "I still don't like the idea of bringing back the ones who… let's say, caused me no small amount of trouble in the past."

Roy smirked lightly, unfazed."Don't let the past distract you. This is for the students."

Snape narrowed his eyes but didn't argue further. Deep down, he was glad the arrangement wasn't permanent, though the return of Lupin and Sirius still ruffled his pride.

The next morning, the classroom schedule was updated. Students filtered in, buzzing with anticipation. Senior students who remembered Lupin were practically cheering, while younger students whispered excitedly about Sirius's reputation.

In the 5th-year classroom, Lupin began with a calm, analytical lecture, explaining defensive theory, anticipating dark magic, and practicing non-verbal spells. He emphasized discipline, control, and understanding, earning admiration from every student who had feared or struggled with dark magic before.

Meanwhile, in the 1st-year classroom, Sirius had students paired off for practical dueling exercises, teaching them how to block curses, counter jinxes, and act quickly in dangerous situations. Laughter and excitement filled the room, though Sirius ensured that discipline and caution remained central.

Even the normally stoic Snape couldn't hide his annoyance at how quickly the students were responding to the two former "troublemakers."

After the first week, it was clear: Lupin and Sirius had breathed new life into Defence Against the Dark Arts. Older students felt confident and prepared, while the younger students were learning through fun, interactive, and safe exercises.

Roy observed from his office window, smiling quietly."Temporary or not," he thought, "this year, Hogwarts is in excellent hands."
