Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Zombies?

In an ordinary classroom, Inaba Tsukiyo was teleported to the last seat by the window.

As her consciousness gradually awakened, Inaba Tsukiyo heard the beautiful voice of a girl speaking, and the sound of students running on the playground outside.

'Is this the world that is about to face destruction? It doesn't feel like anything strange is happening.'

Although her eyes couldn't see, Inaba Tsukiyo's sense of touch, smell, hearing, and taste were all heightened to a terrifying degree.

Just by standing still, she could perceive events happening very far away.

Inaba Tsukiyo was wearing a miko outfit. Unlike the other students, she wasn't wearing a school uniform, and she even carried a treasure known as mikazuki munechika, one of the Five Great Swords of Japan.

No one thought Inaba Tsukiyo was out of place, nor did anyone find it strange that Inaba Tsukiyo was carrying such a weapon. Perhaps this was what alaya had done for her.

At this moment, the students in Inaba Tsukiyo's classroom had all left, leaving only one teacher and another classmate. It seemed like school was already out for the afternoon.

Inaba Tsukiyo didn't possess memories of anime like other transmigrators; or rather, she might have had them in the past, but due to the passage of time, those memories had completely vanished.

Although she didn't know what she needed to do, Inaba Tsukiyo decided to leave the school and see what parts of this world were in disarray.

When Inaba Tsukiyo left the classroom, the hallway outside was already empty.

Not only was the hallway deserted, but there were no sounds from the other classrooms either.

The dismissal bell had rung a long time ago. Most of the students had already reported to their clubs, and those in the Going-Home Club had already gone home.

Coming to the window in the hallway, Inaba Tsukiyo poked her head out. She had been hearing many unusual sounds since earlier.

In her perception, these unusual sounds were coming from the students on the playground.

It wasn't the sound of physical movement, but rather more like the sound of internal muscles decaying and falling to the ground.

This was a very strange phenomenon. A human body wouldn't decay for no reason, nor had any acidic liquid been injected.

Not only the students exercising on the playground, but also students in other school clubs, were experiencing this condition.

"This is truly… baffling. This feeling reminds me of a movie I watched a long time ago. Living Dead?"

It was a movie Classmate Inaba Tsukiyo had seen hundreds of years ago, and she really couldn't recall the specific details, but now she had to do something.

Following the guidance in her heart, Inaba Tsukiyo leaped directly from the window. Although it was the third floor, she jumped without any hesitation.

Perhaps due to her weight or some special technique, as Inaba Tsukiyo was about to reach the ground, her petite body rolled a few times on the ground and she immediately stood up.

After steadying herself, Inaba Tsukiyo didn't act immediately, because she had already sensed a terrifying scene.

Some students on the playground had already started to mutate, and some of the mutated students were attacking others who hadn't mutated.

They didn't distinguish between The Boy or girl, directly pushing them to the ground and gnawing at their flesh with their teeth, blood continuously flowing from them.

Although she hadn't seen it, Inaba Tsukiyo had already imagined the bloody scene in her mind. Not only that, she also sensed several zombified students slowly approaching her from behind.

"This really is... unbearable. Don't they know that girls hate these kinds of things the most?"

Although she was a Boy before becoming Inaba Tsukiyo, she had been a girl for hundreds of years, and her behavior and habits had almost become identical to Inaba Tsukiyo's.

Facing such disgusting things, Inaba Tsukiyo didn't even think about drawing her sword, feeling that these guys would dirty her blade.

"Clang!"

The sound of the sword returning to its scabbard. Without even seeing her draw the sword, and barely even seeing her sheathe it, the strike directly decapitated the zombified students who were approaching her, causing them to fall powerlessly to the ground.

After doing this, Inaba Tsukiyo rushed towards the playground. She had a premonition that there was a very important person there.

Just as Inaba Tsukiyo was rushing to the playground, a cute girl with purple hair in twin pigtails looked in horror at the approaching zombie.

Due to fear, she accidentally fell to the ground while backing away, looking in terror at the zombie less than a few meters away from her.

This zombie slowly approached the purple twin-tailed girl, inching closer and closer. The putrid smell of decay from its body had already become noticeable.

But the twin-tailed girl didn't care about that. What she couldn't accept was the fact that the Boy in front of her had turned into this.

She had a crush on this Boy, but his sudden transformation left her mind blank, completely unsure of what to do.

Just as the zombie was about to reach her and tear her petite body apart, the zombie's movements suddenly froze.

Immediately after, the twin-tailed girl saw the zombie's head sliced open, and its body simply tumbled down.

"It seems I wasn't late. As the only survivor on the playground, you've made it."

The twin-tailed girl, still in a daze, heard a pleasant voice and looked up to see Inaba Tsukiyo, with her eyes closed, walking towards her.

"..."

The twin-tailed girl didn't answer, just stared blankly at Inaba Tsukiyo.

That unique miko outfit and the habit of carrying a weapon immediately reminded her of the most special student at Kyonohoka Academy.

"Classmate Inaba...?"

"Oh? I didn't expect you to actually know me? Are we friends?"

At this point, Inaba Tsukiyo, holding mikazuki munechika, looked at the twin-tailed girl somewhat nervously.

While Inaba Tsukiyo awaited the twin-tailed girl's answer, two zombies were slowly approaching her from behind.

"Watch out..."

The twin-tailed girl saw the zombies behind Inaba Tsukiyo and was about to warn her when she saw Inaba Tsukiyo seem to move slightly, then make a motion of sheathing her sword, after which the two zombies behind her fell to the ground.

"So fast, that rumor is true after all."

There were many rumors about Inaba Tsukiyo at Kyonohoka Academy. Besides the fact that Inaba Tsukiyo was blind, the most common ones were about her swordsmanship.

Some said Inaba Tsukiyo mastered a drawing sword technique called Pill Self-Manifestation Style, but no one had ever seen her draw her sword.

The twin-tailed girl finally understood why no one had ever seen her draw her sword; her drawing speed was simply too fast. With human eyes, it was impossible to see her attack.

Swallowing, the twin-tailed girl shook her head.

"I'm sorry, because Classmate Inaba never spoke at school, and no one dared to approach you, we haven't spoken since first grade until now."

"Why does no one approach me? Am I that scary? Am I the kind of person who would just cut people down at the slightest provocation?"

Why does no one approach you, don't you have any idea? the twin-tailed girl thought with a wry smile.

Just the real sword Inaba Tsukiyo carried was enough to keep most students away from her, let alone the difficult task of becoming her friend.

Rumors had spread at Kyonohoka Academy that Inaba Tsukiyo had beaten someone into the hospital, and in the end, the other party not only didn't cause trouble but even apologized. No one knew who was behind Inaba Tsukiyo that allowed her such great privilege at school.

(alaya: I'm sorry, as the will of humanity, I can do whatever I want.)

"I believe Classmate Inaba is certainly not the kind of girl who likes to cut people. If Classmate Inaba, you want a friend, I'd be happy to be your friend."

Seeing Inaba Tsukiyo's body instantly turn black and white, the twin-tailed girl quickly said.

The twin-tailed girl's answer made Inaba Tsukiyo's lips curve into a smile, and she nodded.

"Since we're friends, don't use such a formal address as Classmate Inaba."

"Uh (⊙o⊙)... Then, Tsukiyo-chan?"

The twin-tailed girl looked at Inaba Tsukiyo cautiously, afraid that her address would displease Inaba Tsukiyo.

"Sounds good, say it again."

Indeed, even though she was already over a hundred years old, Inaba Tsukiyo still liked this kind of address, or perhaps it was a habit to maintain her inner age.

"Ah ah ah..."

At this moment, the zombies on the surrounding playground were already rushing towards them.

Excluding the other zombies that were currently gnawing, their number was at least over a dozen.

Inaba Tsukiyo would have no problem dealing with these zombies alone, but the twin-tailed girl was still there, and without a weapon, she couldn't handle these zombies.

"Let's go, the playground is no longer safe. Let's go inside the teaching building first; there should still be surviving students there."

"Okay, I understand, Tsukiyo-chan."

Nodding, the twin-tailed girl followed Inaba Tsukiyo into the teaching building.

Fortunately, the number of zombies on the playground was not very large, and their movements were very slow. Even if Inaba Tsukiyo walked, these zombies couldn't catch up.

The twin-tailed girl, following behind Inaba Tsukiyo, watched Inaba Tsukiyo walking ahead, her small head constantly thinking.

She didn't understand why the taciturn Inaba Tsukiyo would risk her life to appear there and save her. If it weren't for Inaba Tsukiyo, she would probably have been bitten by now.

Because the crisis had only just broken out, extremely bloody scenes could be seen all over the school.

Club members who used to laugh and chat were now zombies emitting a putrid stench.

Not only that, these zombies were also tearing at other students who hadn't transformed yet.

Those students who were bitten, after being bitten, rose from the ground again in an extremely short amount of time.

However, at this point, they could no longer be considered human; they had become fellow zombies, chasing other survivors alongside the other zombies.

Using their enhanced hearing, the two easily bypassed large groups of zombies and entered the school building.

As soon as she entered the school building, the twin-tailed girl saw a hellish scene. She suppressed her churning stomach, covered her mouth, and tears flowed uncontrollably.

What exactly happened? Why did it turn out like this? What exactly happened to their world?

"Is this the so-called crisis? The end of humanity. You really know how to choose missions for me, alaya."

The zombie crisis, this must be a matter concerning the survival of humanity.

Although she didn't know if this crisis was caused by that energy, if her mission this time was to resolve the zombie crisis, then the workload was truly immense.

Inaba Tsukiyo patted the twin-tailed girl's back, waiting for her to feel a little better before asking.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Tsukiyo-chan. I'm sorry, I caused you trouble."

The twin-tailed girl smiled weakly. She really wasn't fine, but she also knew there was no time for her to be weak.

"My name is Ebisu Kurumi. You can just call me Kurumi."

"Alright, please take care of me, Kurumi."
