Noting such reactions, Corven returned to his insides, where his affinities dwelled. With a will of his own, Corven reached out to the flame of Darkness, allowing the element to flow through him... Only for things to immediately go wrong.
The Darkness was too potent, too willful—It spread outward from Corven's body, breaking completely out of his control almost instantaneously.
Corven felt like his insides were burning with power—Too much power. He felt like his father element would consume him whole only after burning him alive. Corven let out an involuntary scream as the feeling consumed him. His usual pale white eyes had turned completely black and his typical white hair had also gone umbra black, no ounce of white to be seen.
In the outside world of the Dungeon, things weren't looking better. Suddenly, the daylight sky turned black, as darkness descended on the entire Dungeon.
Not night; there were no stars, no moon, no light—Only darkness.
And it wasn't restricted to just the Dungeon, either.
In the outside world of Mythos, the same, unthinkable darkness descended upon the world, blotting out the Sun, and any light granted by bulbs, fire, electricity or magic—It was absolute darkness, a disturbance which, within it, various spectators and powers that be who's attention was grasped by the phenomena...
[Planet Mythos, Flying Cities of Caelum]:
[Alexander Caelum]:
"—and that was how we got the rest of the week off, father," Alex answered in explanations to why he returned early.
"So the Infernal Guild dared to attack an academy protected by all 8 of the Great Houses? Foolish bastards. They must've known they would never have truly succeeded—that the Great Houses would've hunted them down if they had, even if they had the backing of turncoat students behind them, giving them valuable info," the High Patrician of House Caelum stated, almost to himself, before a thought caught his attention, causing him to look at his son. "And the boy? Any news on him?"
"Corven Umbrovante does not yet sense that I observe him—of that, I am certain," Alex began, tilting his head as if lost in his own thoughts, before re-gathering himself and continuing on. "He is... gifted. Powerful. Adept in shadow manipulation as well as the blade—Possibly on par with me at this... I... am still unsure of his stature, whether or not he's of noble birth, but I do know that he carries himself as one—Both in action and mannerism; he is both prideful and reserved."
As he finished his observations, his father, the High Lord Patrician of House Caelum, merely hummed in contemplation before speaking.
"You will continue to monitor him when you return to campus," he said. "Do so, however, in discretion. I do not want you to be traced, understand?"
"As you wish, my Lord Father," Alexander bowed his head in acknowledgement.
"Good," his father said. "For now, you will correspond with Quinlan for the upcoming All-Factions Imperial Auction we're hosting this year. Arrange proper seat plannings, as All the Great Houses and their bannermen will be in attendance. All starships should also have proper parki—"
Just as his father was about to finish speaking, he paused, looking at the sky outside. Alex joined him, nearly gasping in shock.
The sky, it's turned black—There were no sun, no light—Even the torches were nearly consumed, while burning in a dimmed light, barely perceivable.
'What in Athena's name?' Alexander thought. 'Are we under attack?'
His father, however, acted immediately.
"Have all city guardsmen prepared to keep the balance amongst the 4 Cities," his father ordered a guardsman, who rushed out the Halls. "If this is an attack, we would already be besieged. I know this isn't one; sadly, the people don't. Riots might occur in this cover of darkness. My son?"
"Yes, Lord Father?" Alex shook himself from his reverie.
"Prepare the projection crystal," he said. "I must address my citizens. This isn't an isolated incident—It's global. Go, now. Sooner we prepare for whatever worse could happen, the further we can expect for the best to occur."
"Yes, Lord Father," Alexander answered, eyes wide, before rushing out, the sound of conflict in the city already reaching Alexander's ears.
[Planet Mythos, Nova Imperium Empire]:
[Aurora Romulus]:
Aurora Romulus was eating a cherry pie when darkness befell House Romulus.
"How intriguing..." the Thorned Queen of House Romulus purred, fork midway to her mouth as she looked at the darkness around her. Still, it was only briefly before she continued enjoying her pie. "Seems like some fool's lost control of their powers. Still, to have such Planetary scale darkness to lie within one's self...."
Suddenly, a thought occurred as she was considering the possibility of the source of this darkness being a demigod—She knew of someone it could be....
"I wonder...." she grinned maliciously. "Could this be him?"
With an evil sounding giggle, the High Patriarch resumed her dessert.
[Gaetir Domain, , Bludfist Territory]:
[Drago Bludfist]:
Drago Bludfist was not happy.
The assassin he paid to take out that worm, that bastard who took out his precious Pillaging Five had yet to check in with him. It's been literal days since he sent the one known as the "Cold Shadow"—One of the top assassins of the Assassins Guild, and a leading power behind such a guild. He paid an immense price to get that bastard, Ashemboam, to actually take the job.
'And that bastard said it would only take a few hours to get the job done!' Drago thought, frustrated. 'It's been days! Does that mean the brat—'
Drago's thought caused him to snicker before he shook his head dismissively. 'No, there's no way that brat can best a Peak Legendary ranked, renowned assassin—He's a boy!'
'Maybe, instead of focusing on this, I can think of what I intend to purchase at the All-Faction Auction this Friday. I'm sure there would be immeasurably useful artifacts and treasures, no doubt. I wonder wha—Huh? What's going on? Who turned off the lights?'
Drago noticed just then that the Sun vanished in the sky and all other light sources had either vanished completely or dimmed severely. And, terrified, with a scan of his aura across the entire planet of Mythos, Drago's heart raced, before turning to ice.
'This is planetary level of darkness?' Drago thought, before realizing—sensing—that this wasn't a conscience use of power. 'Someone must've lost control over their affinity usage; but to be at planetary level? I wonder if I could recruit them? With the Pillaging Five now gone, my territory will need new talent to reinforce our will—Perhaps whoever is behind this would suffice?'
Unknowingly, the one Drago Bludfist wanted to recruit, he also wanted dead, but that part of the story has yet to happen.
[Planet Mythos, Mythonus Academy; Vice President Tower]:
[Victoria Moore]:
Looking out at the Darkened sky, Victoria had squinted eyes. She knew the person behind such a phenomena weren't doing this on purpose. After all, before she was a Vice President, she was an instructor; she recognized the signs of someone losing control of their powers.
What confused her was how was such a thing possible on a global scale?
'Definitely a demigod, possibly a Primordial Spawn, though the only known Primordial Spawn with Darkness affinity is Cimon Morpheus, Achlys Keresa and—' Victoria released a gasp in realization. Then, smirking, she spoke out loud. "So the boy decided to train his darkness. Evidently, it was too much to practice with or control. I wonder what he will do now..."
