Chapter 48 - Battle

Odin looked at the message he had received about Earth.

"King Laufey dares to attack Midgard with a being from the Negative Zone. Does he think it is easy to invade the Ten Realms?"

Odin looked toward Frigga.

"Frigga, you will be in charge of Asgard during this period. If Sigurd returns, have him come to me. We may need his assistance in the battle."

Frigga considered the situation, then thought of something.

"Husband, what if their real target is not Midgard, but to draw you away from Asgard?"

Odin heard her words, then looked at her.

"They would not dare attack Asgard, especially Laufey. They know the consequences—even with Sigurd absent, Father is still here, and you yourself are a powerful sorceress. Their plan must be something else."

Then he met her eyes.

"Nothing else is as important as saving lives. If they are truly planning something, their nightmare will come true."

Watching Odin's disappearing figure, she knew he might be planning something, but she did not dwell on it.

"Let us hope everything goes according to your plan."

At the same time, in Midgard.

Odin appeared in front of a huge pagoda-like structure in the mountains.

"Agamotto, where are the rest of the group?"

Odin looked toward Agamotto inquiringly.

"Odin, you came quite quickly. But this time, we may have to use our full strength to save the humans; otherwise, many may die."

Odin did not bother to look at Agamotto.

"You do not have to worry about me. I always use my full strength against my enemies."

Just as they were speaking, they felt the presence of other beings.

"So, you have finally come."

They saw Mosi the Black Panther, Firehair, Starbrand Van, Fan Fei the Iron Fist, and Ghost Rider. In this world, Odin had not forced Firehair into marriage—he had proposed, but she disappeared, and he let the matter drop. After returning to Asgard, he married, so the situation that occurred in another reality did not happen here.

Odin looked at Firehair for only a few seconds, then asked,

"How are you, Firehair?"

Firehair looked toward Odin but sensed no ulterior motive, remembering he was already married.

"I am well. Congratulations on your marriage and child, Odin."

Odin looked at her and replied happily,

"Thank you."

Just as everyone was conversing, they felt the presence of Hyve and Laufey.

Odin looked toward the huge swarm of dark creatures—the children of Laufey and Hyve.

"Laufey, you have crossed the line. I warned you before that the Ten Realms are under my rule, but you have taken my warning as empty air. You will pay the price for this invasion, and for bringing a creature from the Negative Zone."

Without hesitation, Odin unleashed his full power, attacking Laufey and Hyve.

Seeing Odin engage the enemy, the remaining Avengers also attacked the children of Laufey.

Agamotto used his magic to kill the dark creatures.

"Firehair, try to finish your enemies quickly. Their numbers are overwhelming. Do not let them pass, or human society will be destroyed."

As Firehair fought, she kept watch for any who tried to escape toward other areas. Mosi fought against five at a time but still felt the enemy numbers were far too great.

The same was true for Fan Fei and Van. Odin saw the situation and knew he must either kill Laufey and Hyve quickly or assist his allies.

"Damn it. If I had known this would happen, I would never have let Sigurd go on his trip."

Meanwhile, in Asgard.

An Asgardian warrior guarding the treasure vault knocked out the other guard. He entered the vault and saw various weapons but knew he could not touch most of them. He approached the Casket of Ancient Winters, picked it up, and changed his appearance before walking into the city where Asgardians were going about their daily lives.

He entered a house and heard a voice ask,

"Did you bring the weapon?"

The soldier presented the Casket. The other figure used a spell to disappear, but at that same moment, Heimdall—who guarded the realms—sensed something amiss. He scanned Asgard and looked toward the treasure vault. He immediately informed Odin and Frigga.

Frigga, sitting in her palace, heard the message.

"My Queen, someone has entered the treasure vault. Something is missing."

Frigga immediately cast a spell over the entire royal city but detected no foreign presence—only a strange aura emanating from a building.

"Guard, inform Sigrun and the other warriors there is a spy in the city. Mobilize the soldiers to capture them at once."

At the same time, she walked to the treasure vault. When she arrived, she saw everything was intact except for the Casket of Ancient Winters.

"So the Frost Giants still wish to fight Asgard. How foolish to think they could steal from us while we are away. What a naïve thought."

Frigga then looked toward another weapon.

"The Angels truly love treasure, but this time they will pay a heavy price."

Back in Midgard, Odin, still fighting, suddenly received the news.

"Laufey, do you think stealing the Casket of Ancient Winters from Asgard will guarantee your victory? You are very naïve."

Hearing Odin's words, everyone was surprised.

Laufey looked at Odin, who was furious.

"Odin, do you think everyone must follow your orders? As for the Casket, it has always been a weapon of the Frost Giants, but you Asgardians delight in stealing others' treasures."

This time, Odin was truly enraged. Without another thought, he used Gungnir to strike at Hyve. Just as the spear was about to hit, Hyve's children threw themselves in its path to slow its momentum. Gungnir still struck Hyve, wounding her. As she prepared to retaliate against Odin, Laufey stopped her and looked toward their children.

"Let the children fight. If we stay, we may be killed in Odin's rage."

Hyve looked at Laufey, furious over the death of her children, but Laufey was still thinking only of his own gain.
