Katrina opened one eye lazily at the sound of Xiaoyu's complaint, her lips curving into a halfsmile.
"Give me a break, you little ball of fluff. I've been traveling for twentyfour hours straight," she murmured, stretching her arms above her head with a soft groan. The movement caused the oversized Tshirt she wore to ride up slightly, revealing a strip of smooth skin along her midriff.
She rolled onto her side to face the animated system floating above her bed, propping herself up on one elbow. Her golden eyes studied Xiaoyu with genuine affection despite their countless adventures together across various worlds, this felt different somehow.
"You know what this means, right?"
Xiaoyu did not say both went to sleep until early in the morning how did Katrina wake up? Not an alarm not birds chipping, nope she woke up by Xiaoyu screaming about some juicy gossip about a servant! Of course Katrina loves drama she took a shower and put on clean clothes. She took the elevator down the stairs and walked to the dinning hall where so much breakfast was waiting for her. Song Moo, Zav both waved her over asking about her sleep.
As Katrina entered the grand dining hall, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and pastries filled the air. Sunlight streamed through tall windows, illuminating the polished mahogany table where her new family sat waiting.
"Good morning, my dear! Did you sleep well?" Song Moo asked, her face lighting up as she saw Katrina approach. Zav stood to pull out a chair for her, his expression warm and welcoming.
Before Katrina could answer, Xiaoyu's voice chimed in her mind.
"Host host host! You won't believe what I found out about that butler who served you breakfast yesterday! His wife is having an affair with the chauffeur but he doesn't know because she's been using sleeping pills to knock him out every night!"
Katrina coughed her apple juice. Lulu and Xing both walked down the stairs and sat down.
"Do you have any manners?" Lulu asked with a sneer. Katrina ignored her.
[My goodness poor Butler Ali ah who understands when someone finds out an affair! Ah who understands when I just want to rest to be lazy? Ah who understands my gossip loving heart.]
Xing, Song Moo, and Zav were both shocked was that Katrina inner monologue in their mind? All three of them were shocked but all of them were excited. Xing tried to ask what happened but found he was able to say anything. Butler Ali also heard Katrina inner monologue.
[His wife is cheating cheating always giving butler sleeping pills. Went as far as have sex in their beds who understand my drama mind? Asterisk asterisk asterisks.]
Katrina has not spoke a single word she just eat her food as she spoke with her system.
Of course no one was unable to ask about the inner monologue Lulu was unable to hear it. But no one said a word they just found it interesting Lulu didn't understand why everyone was staring at Katrina who was busy eating.
"Thank you so much for the food," Katrina said.
[So good so good so good so good so good! Ah so delicious I want more and more food so good so good so good! So delicious yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy!] Katrina inner monologue was endless with yummy. Xing choked on his drink.
"Mom, dad I am going out to play with my friends."
[Oh no this brother such an idiot he goes out now? He will end up crippled and with a second degree burn his race car breaks is broken. This brother will end up crippled such a tragic end my goodness what kind of bad luck is this?] Katrina sighed Xing froze in place and Xing turned around and grabbed Katrina hand.
"Sister come with me let's have fun," Xing said.
[Xiaoyu this guy is possessed he is possessed! He is possessed]
"Darling host not possessed maybe he just wants to know you?" Xiaoyu said.
Katrina frowned she thought for a long time and she nodded her head.
"Xing, if anything happens to my precious daughter I will destroy you," Song Moo said.
"Yes I will cut your pocket money from 200 million to 50 million," Zav said. Xing was so speechless he huffed out and took Katrina with her.
Xing dragged Katrina out of the mansion and toward the garage, where a sleek black sports car sat waiting with the engine already running. The morning air was warm, carrying the scent of jasmine from nearby gardens.
"You're coming with me," Xing announced, tossing her the keys.
"I'm taking my new sister for a drive."
Katrina caught the keys easily, her golden eyes studying the vehicle's polished exterior.
"This car looks fast," she observed casually.
"Of course it's fast," Xing said, opening the passenger door for her with a gesture that was half arrogant and half practiced politeness.
"It's a limited edition model. Only fifty were made worldwide."
Katrina leaned against the leather seat as she put on her sunglasses she did mind this car it's not bad at all back in in New York City she has a penthouse that is just full of cars and she owns at least four of these cars. But Katrina acted like she knew nothing.
Katrina settled into the passenger seat, adjusting her sunglasses with deliberate casualness. The leather was cool against her skin, and she noted the way the sunlight caught the polished dashboard.
"Nice car," she said, her voice carrying just the right amount of impressed innocence.
"Is this one of those cars that goes really fast?"
Xing's chest puffed out slightly as he slid into the driver's seat.
"You have no idea," he said, revving the engine. The sound was a low growl that vibrated through the floorboards.
He glanced over at Katrina, studying her profile as she gazed out at the manicured grounds surrounding them.
Xing pulled out of the garage with practiced precision, the sports car responding to his touch like an extension of his own body. The tires gripped the asphalt as he navigated the winding driveway leading away from Fuji Manor.
"Hold on," he warned, shifting gears and accelerating onto a public road. The cityscape blurred past them in streaks of chrome and glass.
"So where are we going?" Katrina asked, her voice barely audible over the roar of the engine. She kept her hands folded in her lap, maintaining an air of wideeyed innocence despite Xiaoyu's constant commentary in her mind.
"Host host host! Did you see that red Ferrari? Oh my goodness! The owner is a famous businessman who just got caught embezzling funds from his own company!" Xiaoyu said.
[No way damn it who understands my paining heart damn it damn it. Damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it wait wait wait Xiaoyu who is that business man since he is caught I want to buy everything!] Katrina eyes sparked with excitement.
