"Who is the current leader?" I asked.
"That would be me." One of her grandsons stepped forward. "I'm Eomi and this is Achi."
I looked him over and could see that he was about the same age as Uchel. He had a confidence that showed he was used to being listened to and heard.
I turned to Uchel. We had never talked about what would happen if his family wanted him to stay, Becoming leader of one of the Moanchan tribes had definitely not been something we had thought about.
"I wish we could give you an answer, but I think that my family and I need to talk." I looked at Eomi. "Please don't misunderstand, we never thought this would be something to worry about. I want to be sincere in our answer."
Eomi nodded. Uchel's grandmother stood and her grandson Achi came over to take her arm.
"We will leave you to talk then. I'm sure that you have a lot to talk about."
Eomi gestured for one of the guards to come to guide us to our rooms. We followed close behind him.
