Chapter 52: Take Good Care of My Little Sister for Me

Fu Xuan's face turned pale as realization struck her. Her steps faltered as she stumbled toward the small courtyard.

She had hidden for over a hundred years…

And yet, she still could not escape that fate.

Her mentor—Diviner Jing Tian—had ultimately died because of her.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

Fate.

Immutable.

Only one path.

Diviners, it seemed, could foresee the ending—but never alter it.

Her thoughts dissolved into chaos. A crushing helplessness settled over her heart.

All she wanted was—

To cry, openly and without restraint, in her brother's arms.

She pushed open the courtyard gate.

The familiar figure was not in the reclining chair.

He was not in the garden either.

"Big Brother…"

Her voice trembled, broken by sobs. There was no reply.

"Big Brother?"

She called again.

Silence answered.

A breeze drifted through the courtyard. It remained as quiet as ever.

A chill crept into her heart. She rushed into the room, searching for his shadow.

He was nowhere.

She sank down by the doorway, her heart tangled in knots. The feeling that he had left without a word overwhelmed her once more.

Guilt over Jing Tian's death—and resentment toward herself for doubting her brother—crushed her completely.

She wanted to cry.

She wanted to scream.

But no sound emerged.

It felt as if a slab of stone pressed against her chest.

Tears flowed, yet she could not release the weight inside.

Where did Big Brother go?

He wouldn't leave me.

She tried to comfort herself. Perhaps he had gone to buy groceries and would return soon, as always, sitting at the stone table and eating her favorite dishes with her.

Through tear-blurred vision, she noticed an envelope pinned beneath a stone on the table.

Her heart dropped.

The foreboding deepened.

Still, she forced herself to walk over and slowly opened it.

---

> To My Little Sister:

"When you read this, Big Brother will have already embarked on a journey—like an elephant walking toward the elephant graveyard…"

As she read, your voice filled her mind.

A journey?

Where?

The elephant graveyard…

Does that mean—

You will die?

She swallowed her sobs and continued.

> "I did not finish the story that day. Legend says that elephants who rest there will one day awaken from their dreams and return to their herd."

Will you return?

But if you die…

How could you?

Tears blurred the ink.

> "Perhaps one day, I too will awaken from my dream and return to your side.

Please do not worry, and do not try to find me…"

How can I not worry?

You know how I feel about you—why must you leave me now?

Her tears fell like rain upon the letter.

> "I still have many stories I wish to tell you. Forgive me for not having enough time.

I am not a long-lived species—but neither am I entirely ordinary. Please do not treat my departure as a final farewell…"

Big Brother…

Master died because of me…

He died…

Her emotions collapsed entirely. She dropped the letter, wrapped her arms around herself, and wept aloud.

> "When a very, very, very long train arrives at Xianzhou, you may receive news of me.

But before that, you must gather your strength. The 0.1 percent chance that fate leaves you requires all your effort to seize it.

Fate is not as unchangeable as Master once said…

Lastly, you need not be so sorrowful. Fate can change. Master will not die, and you will be able to return to the Jade Pavilion to visit your family…"

After crying for a long time, she finished the letter.

Her heart, however, was filled with questions.

Then something seemed to click.

She bolted from the courtyard—

Running toward the star skiff bound for the Jade Pavilion.

On the Battlefield

Meanwhile, after receiving the order, you and Commander Yueyu raced toward Fanghu Xianzhou.

Commander Yueyu looked at you—at the Grand Diviner's token in your hand—with surprise.

"Have you fulfilled your wish, Lord Su?"

You nodded faintly. Your white-haired self felt tense.

This was the first time you fought a war simply to fight.

Your heart was uneasy.

She sensed it.

"There is no need to be nervous, Grand Diviner. Our mission is only to protect the Cloud-Viewing Mirror."

You coughed sharply. Pain tore through your chest.

You wanted to persuade her to withdraw.

But she had come under orders.

Perhaps she already knew—

This might be a one-way journey.

Yet there was no fear in her eyes.

Only resolve.

You broke through the encirclement of the Abundance Followers and reached the designated point.

You set down the Cloud-Viewing Mirror and coughed again.

"Are you all right?"

"I'm… fine."

The abominations swarmed from all directions.

Small fry.

Even at your limit, you could still cut through countless of them.

"Commander Yueyu… do you understand that if we hold this ground, we will not leave alive?"

"I know. It is my honor to live and die with the Grand Diviner."

Her spear swept through enemies, her eyes blazing.

You infused your will into the mirror.

It expanded like a vast net, stretching into the cosmos.

You prayed—

To Lan, the Hunt.

A colossal will answered.

Connection established.

The Divine Archer had responded.

Soon—

The light would descend.

"Commander Yueyu, come closer. I have something important to entrust to you."

She stepped forward, puzzled.

"The beam is about to arrive. This place is safe… As for me… take good care of my little sister…"

Your eyes were bloodshot.

With every ounce of strength remaining—

You seized her and hurled her away.

Her golden-armored figure soared through the sky like a thrown spear.

And in the distant heavens—

A light appeared.

Brilliant.

Blazing.

Trailing a comet's tail like Halley's Comet.

The Radiant Beam of the Rainbow Arbiter—

Had arrived.
