Chapter 23 - chapter 23 Star and Stripe Arc

Screen 1 – The World Responds

Global news feeds light up at once.

International emergency briefings. Military satellites. Hero networks activating.

One name dominates every channel:

Star and Stripe — America's No. 1 Hero.

She's on her way to Japan.

Against orders.

To confront Tomura Shigaraki directly.

Ben watches the broadcast in silence, arms crossed.

"…She's doing it anyway," he says.

Midoriya looks up. "She disobeyed her government."

Ben nods slowly.

"Yeah. That's not recklessness."

"That's someone who knows there's no second chance."

He exhales, expression serious now.

"If she fails, the world loses its buffer."

Bakugo scoffs. "Tch. So she's strong."

Ben answers flatly.

"She's terrifying."

He looks down at the Omnitrix, thumb hovering over the faceplate.

"And she's walking straight into the kind of fight where rules stop mattering."

For the first time in a while, Ben doesn't crack a joke.

"…I hope she knows exactly what she's doing," he says.

"Because if this goes wrong—"

He doesn't finish the sentence.

Outside, jets roar across the sky, heading east.

The war is no longer Japan's alone.

Screen 2 – International Clash Begins

The sky above the Pacific splits open with sonic booms.

Fighter jets scatter as two figures surge ahead of them.

One is draped in red, white, and blue — Star and Stripe.

The other is a streak of emerald light.

Ben slams the Omnitrix mid-flight.

Click.

JETRAY bursts forward, wings cutting the air as he accelerates to hypersonic speed.

"Alright," Ben says through comms.

"I'll keep him moving. You hit him hard."

Star grins.

"Copy that, alien hero."

Star Dominates the Battlefield

Shigaraki rises from the ocean surface, decay crawling across warped flesh.

Before he can react—

"NEW ORDER!"

The air itself locks.

Invisible force slams Shigaraki downward as Star creates massive reality-altering constructs around him.

Jetray darts in and out, firing precision energy blasts to herd Shigaraki exactly where Star wants him.

Every time Shigaraki reaches out—

he hits nothing but afterimages.

"Too slow," Ben mutters, banking hard.

Star follows up, reshaping the battlefield:

Colossal air constructs

Crushing pressure zones

Binding force that pins Shigaraki midair

For a moment—

Shigaraki is completely overwhelmed.

Shigaraki Adapts

Then something changes.

Shigaraki laughs.

Not loud.

Not confident.

Curious.

His body twists, regenerates, rewrites itself to exploit tiny gaps in Star's rules.

A hand slips free.

Decay spreads where it shouldn't be able to.

Ben's eyes narrow.

"He's learning the rules as fast as she's writing them."

Star sees it too.

Her expression hardens.

She lands on a floating construct, breathing controlled.

"I can't erase him outright," she admits.

"He keeps finding loopholes."

Jetray hovers beside her, energy flickering along his wings.

"So we stop trying to end it fast."

A Tactical Shift

Star clenches her fist.

"Exactly."

She looks straight at Shigaraki.

"Then I change the rules of the game."

Ben angles forward, ready.

"Whatever you need. I'll keep him boxed in."

Below them, the ocean churns violently.

Above them, the sky strains under impossible force.

This isn't a brawl anymore.

It's a battle of adaptation.

And both sides know —

the next move will decide everything.

Screen 3 – The Sacrifice

Shigaraki's eyes narrow.

He stops chasing shadows and starts predicting.

Jetray streaks in again — and this time, Shigaraki moves before the strike.

A hand snaps out, catching Jetray's leg mid-flight.

The impact is brutal but not fatal.

Jetray is hurled into a concrete wall, the shock rattling the air.

The Omnitrix flashes.

Green drains away.

Ben drops to the ground in human form, breath knocked out of him.

"…So you learned," Ben mutters, forcing himself up.

Shigaraki turns back to the real threat.

Star and Stripe's Final Move

Star and Stripe doesn't hesitate.

She knows she can't win by force.

She raises her hand.

Her voice is steady.

"New Order."

Then she does the unthinkable.

She rewrites her own Quirk.

Instead of attacking Shigaraki directly,

New Order turns inward — becoming a rule that destroys other Quirks inside him.

Inside Shigaraki, chaos erupts.

Stolen Quirks begin collapsing

All For One's control fractures

Voices inside him scream and vanish

Shigaraki staggers.

For the first time, he loses balance — not physically, but internally.

All For One's grip weakens.

His presence fractures.

Ben watches from the ground, eyes wide.

"She's burning the system itself…"

The Cost

Star smiles once.

Just once.

Her body begins to fade as New Order consumes itself.

No transfer.

No inheritance.

Her Quirk is gone forever.

And so is she.

The battlefield falls silent.

Shigaraki remains standing — damaged, incomplete —

but alive.

Ben clenches his fists.

"…She chose the world over herself."

Above the ocean, nothing remains of Star and Stripe.

Her sacrifice doesn't end the war.

But it changes it forever.
