Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Terrifying Person

"No need to be nervous, Andrius. You know, I have no interest in such things as territory."

Andrius was so wary because he had to protect the wolves of Wolvendom. He knew Durandal's strength very well. As a mere wolf spirit, he was no match for Durandal in her prime.

If she really wanted to do something, it was estimated that all the fighting power of Wolvendom combined would not be able to stop her, and it would probably require Barbatos himself to come and possibly block her steps.

Fortunately, Durandal had no intention of seizing territory. Andrius also understood Durandal's character. She was indeed not the type to want to occupy land and become king. If she really intended to do so, when the King of the Tower was eliminated, she would have been the new king. How could she have stayed in that place at Cape Oath?

Andrius put away his hostility, signaled Razor and the other wolves not to be nervous, and then took Durandal aside to chat.

"I didn't expect you to leave that place. I thought you wouldn't go anywhere else besides that area."

"Until recently, I was staying there. The reason I came out was because of that Children."

In a place Klee couldn't see, Durandal's gaze towards her softened, something Andrius had never seen. The Durandal in his memory had always been expressionless and unapproachable.

Not to mention humans, even her attitude towards Gods and the Seven Archons was the same. She would never show such an expression because of someone.

"That human named Klee? Heh, she's certainly good, but she just likes to cause trouble too much."

"How so?"

"She almost burned down Wolvendom several times. One time the forest was already on fire, and if it weren't for the Knights of Favonius coming to help, Wolvendom would probably be bare."

"Fire? She certainly likes to use bombs to fish. I remember there's no lake in Wolvendom. Why would she use bombs here?"

"She meant well. She and Razor are good friends. Razor hunts boars every day to replenish food, and she wanted to help, but her bombs not only blackened the boars but also set the forest on fire."

When this matter was brought up, Andrius couldn't help but sigh. If it weren't for Klee's good intentions in helping, he would have long forbidden Klee from entering Wolvendom.

Besides her fondness for dangerous weapons, Andrius's evaluation of her was still quite good. The wolves of Wolvendom liked her very much, and Razor was also a good friend of hers.

"What's with that human boy? He's not a wolf... nor does he have any related bloodline."

Unlike the residents of Springvale who had cat ears, Razor was clearly an ordinary human, but from his actions, he had some habits of a wolf. What was going on?

"He was a Children abandoned by humans in Wolvendom, raised by wolves from a young age. It's inevitable that his behavior would show traces of a wolf."

Nodding, Durandal did not delve further into this topic. Perhaps it was inappropriate, and she had no interest in understanding it.

If it weren't for his good relationship with Klee, Durandal wouldn't even have considered bothering with him.

"You've changed, Durandal. Is it because of that human?"

"She... trusts me, Andrius," Durandal said. "She trusts me unconditionally. Even if I tell her about my dangerous nature, she is willing to believe me, willing to hold my hand."

"Just that?"

"Just that."

Seeing that Durandal was not joking, Andrius was filled with emotion. Who would have thought that this powerful God would be so invested in a person for such a reason?

No, this condition sounded simple, but achieving it was much more difficult than imagined.

Klee had never doubted Durandal from beginning to end, always maintaining a trusting attitude towards her, which was precisely the most difficult thing to do, and also what Durandal needed most.

Andrius was unsure what Durandal had gone through to develop such a personality, but he could see that Durandal was not as strong as she appeared on the outside. In fact, she was also very fragile, just not showing it.

"Sister Durandal! This is bad! This is bad."

At this moment, Klee ran over in a hurry, looking at Durandal with a face full of anxiety.

"What's wrong?"

"That Wolfy is sick. It seems like he ate poisoned food, and we can't find a way to save him. Can... can you help?"

If it were an injury, Klee could still help, but poisoning, and clearly a very deep one, was beyond Klee's ability to handle.

Besides her, Razor and the wolves didn't know how to save the Wolfy, and even Andrius probably couldn't find a way. Only Durandal remained as a hope.

"Poisoned? Let me see."

Durandal didn't know how to heal, but when it came to poison, she was confident she could handle any toxin, even ones she had never encountered.

Even if it died, Durandal had a way to save it, though the cost of saving it would be a bit high.

Hearing that Durandal had a way, Klee happily took her hand and ran back. Andrius remained where he was, watching the scene unfold.

Who would have thought that the most terrifying God would have such a side? He knew that his biggest concern was Durandal, fearing that she was the type with deep schemes, wanting to secretly do something big.

Durandal's power was terrifying. She could absorb not only various diseases, but she could even absorb the residual poisons produced after the death of a God.

No matter how weak a God, upon death, a surge of power would be lost, a power related to the clearance represented by that God.

That power would affect surrounding things. Some minor effects were nothing, but some severe ones would bring long-term consequences.

This power was by no means something ordinary people could resist. Even the adepti of Liyue were corrupted by Tatarasuna God and lost their minds, eventually being killed by their former companions.

But Durandal was not afraid of these. Not only was she not afraid, but she could even actively absorb the power of these Tatarasuna God, transforming it into her own strength.

If she wanted to, she could actively seek out Gods, and by eliminating them and absorbing their lost power, she could strengthen herself, gradually becoming an unrivaled existence.

But she didn't do so. Besides protecting humans, she never actively used her abilities. Everyone couldn't understand what Durandal was thinking.

Andrius was one of them. Now he somewhat understood Durandal's trajectory of behavior. She didn't like fighting. What she wanted... was merely an existence like Klee, someone willing to trust her unconditionally.

Unable to help but let out a soft chuckle, Andrius understood why Barbatos let Durandal stay in Mondstadt.

Perhaps she had long seen what Durandal truly wanted, which was why she was so at ease with Durandal. No matter how much he and Dvalin expressed their concerns, she would comfort them by saying, "Don't worry."

"Amazing! Sister Durandal is so great! Wolfy really stood up."

On Durandal's side, after absorbing all the toxins from Wolfy's body, Wolfy weakly got up from the ground.

Although Durandal had completely cleared all the toxins from its body, Wolfy's body was still in a weakened state and needed a good period of recuperation to recover.

"Thank you very much, stranger."

Razor was very grateful for Durandal's help, but the threatening aura emanating from Durandal still made his hair stand on end.

Perhaps it was the beast's intuition he had developed since childhood. Although Durandal looked like an ordinary girl, Razor was still intimidated by Durandal.

It was truly terrifying, especially when he first met Durandal's gaze. All the hairs on his body stood up, and his entire being warned him to quickly leave Durandal.

Durandal glanced at Razor, then looked away and ruffled Klee's head.

Razor scratched his head. She seemed like someone not so easy to get along with. He wasn't very good at greeting people to begin with, and Durandal's attitude made him difficult.

"Sister Durandal! This is Klee's friend, Razor."

Klee giggled and pulled Razor closer, saying, "Razor is very good to Klee. Whenever Klee is in danger, Razor always tries his best to protect Klee. Although... although Klee is always the one who brings the danger."

Even though she always caused trouble for Razor, he never complained. He always helped her deal with things. He was a very good person.

And his hair was fluffy, Klee loved to touch Razor's hair.

Klee demonstrated by touching Razor's hair, completely oblivious to Durandal's gradually dangerous gaze.

Razor didn't mind Klee touching his hair, but Durandal's gaze suddenly became so dangerous. Her eyes glowed with a very dangerous red light.

The immense pressure made Razor's body tremble uncontrollably. He, who would never flinch from any danger, was now like a frightened Children. If he hadn't been immobilized, he probably would have covered his head and crouched down.

"Hm? What's wrong? Razor. You're suddenly trembling so much. Do you have a cold?"

"I... I'm fine."

Looking at Klee, who completely didn't understand what was happening, Razor didn't dare to speak about what Durandal was doing, and could only force himself to say that he was perfectly fine.

Fortunately, this situation didn't last too long. Andrius came over and tried to persuade her. Durandal, out of respect for him having helped Klee before, didn't make things difficult for him and withdrew her aura.

Despite having many "dislikes" for Razor, she was still willing to take care of this human. If he ever encountered trouble, he could come to her, and she would help.

They stayed there for a while, and soon Andrius, using the excuse that he had something to discuss with Razor, had Durandal and Klee leave.

After Durandal left, Razor finally breathed a sigh of relief, touching his forehead, which was covered in sweat.

"Are you alright, Razor?"

"I'm fine. That person is very terrifying."

"Ah, her strength is very great, but she is actually a very gentle person. At least she is not a bad person, you can rest assured."

"I understand. Klee likes her very much. I trust Klee's judgment."

Since she was Klee's friend, Razor would also try to trust Durandal, although he didn't understand why she had such strong hostility towards him.
