Chapter 456 — He Also Participated?!!

When Harry and Darren walked out, Harry gritted his teeth.

"I know why he did it. He's just being petty," Harry said angrily.

"He's jealous that both of us were selected."

"And you're also Dad's child… so he hates you too. Even if you're in Slytherin, once he thinks of Dad, he probably can't stand you either."

Darren laughed awkwardly.

He ended up advising Harry not to think too much.

"Maybe Professor Snape was just being strict about lessons…"

Harry pouted.

He clearly did not believe it.

He thought Darren had been completely fooled by Snape.

They followed Colin down the corridor until they reached a small wooden door.

"This is it. Congratulations, Harry and Darren! You'll definitely win!"

Colin whispered excitedly.

He had always admired Harry the most.

But since Darren appeared, he felt Darren was also someone worthy of admiration.

Now that both of them had entered the Triwizard Tournament, Colin was happier than anyone.

"Oh, thank you, Colin," Darren replied sincerely.

Harry, on the other hand, felt helpless.

There was nothing worthy of congratulations here.

Yet Darren thanked everyone who spoke kindly to him.

When Colin finally left, Harry frowned and asked softly,

"Aren't you scared at all?"

Darren smiled.

"Of course I am. I know this is dangerous," he said.

"But people congratulate us because they're being kind."

"If we tell them how dangerous it really is, they'll only feel uneasy."

"There's no need."

"This kind of risk should only be borne by us. There's no need to pass the fear on to others."

"Darren! You're here!"

Fleur suddenly rushed out of the room.

She grabbed Darren's hand happily.

Her silver-blonde hair shimmered under the light.

Darren was pulled inside.

Inside, Viktor Krum stood silently like a wooden statue.

Rita Skeeter stared at Darren with open disgust.

Back in second year, Darren had injured Rita Skeeter.

Later, she attempted to retaliate, but Rozier had impersonated her using Polyjuice Potion.

Not only that—Rozier had left without even erasing her memory.

Afterward, Rita had suffered retaliation from several wizarding families.

They believed she had taken Darren's money.

At the time, Darren had deliberately "watered down" his retaliation.

But Rita became furious.

She desperately wanted to prove she had been framed.

However, because she herself had so many dark secrets—

She dared not go to the Ministry.

She had no choice but to swallow the humiliation.

In her heart, she believed the one who impersonated her was definitely someone connected to Darren.

Because of that, she had targeted Darren for the past two years.

Not with smears—

But with silence.

Even when Darren had been kidnapped by Death Eaters, she never printed his name.

She only reported: "A fourteen-year-old boy."

This time was no different.

When she saw Darren, she immediately turned away in disgust.

As if he were invisible.

Darren didn't care.

He simply nodded politely and shifted his attention back to Fleur and Harry.

Rita Skeeter, however, was extremely interested in Harry.

While Darren was distracted talking to Fleur, Rita pulled Harry aside.

"Harry Potter, may I conduct a brief interview?"

Harry disliked her.

But he remembered that she had helped Darren during the trial.

So he reluctantly agreed.

Rita led him into a small broom closet.

"May I use a Quick-Quotes Quill?" she asked briskly.

Before Harry could answer, the quill had already begun writing.

She smiled sharply.

"First question. Harry Potter—why did you enter the Triwizard Tournament?"

"I didn't!" Harry shot back immediately.

"No need to lie," Rita said dismissively.

"You didn't even meet the age requirement."

Harry's anger exploded.

He had explained this a hundred times.

No one believed him.

"I didn't enter! Darren can testify for me!"

Rita's eyes lit up.

"Oh? So Darren Potter was involved too?"

Her quill scratched rapidly.

Harry watched words appear:

"...With the assistance of Darren Potter, this so-called savior finally achieved his ambition..."

Harry snapped.

"No! He had nothing to do with it! He will testify that I didn't enter!"

Rita clicked her tongue and crossed out the line unwillingly.

Then she began bombarding Harry with new questions.

Harry felt cornered.

Just then—

The door opened.

Darren walked in.

Without a word, he took Harry's wrist and dragged him out.

Rita gaped at their backs.

She wanted to pursue Darren.

But something in her warned her to stop.

An instinct.

That boy didn't look dangerous.

But every time she crossed him…

Something went wrong.

In the end, Rita muttered angrily and walked away.

Harry opened his mouth.

He wanted to tell Darren what she had asked him.

But he was interrupted the moment they stepped out—

By Ludo Bagman.

"Well, well! Everyone's here!" he said cheerfully.

"First order of business—wand checking!"

"Yes, yes," came a soft voice.

"The wand must be in perfect condition."

Ollivander had arrived.

Harry froze.

It was just like back then.

Being led into the wand shop.

Light bursting from the wand.

The shaking shelves.

Then Darren.

Darren was also lost in thought.

Harry realized—

He must be remembering the same day.

Back when they had first chosen their wands.

Back when it all began.
