Chapter 459 - Chapter 459 — So Ugly!!

Chapter 459 — So Ugly!!

"Don't come any closer, Hagrid!" Charlie shouted. "They can breathe fire—nearly twenty feet!"

Hagrid stood where he was, staring at the beasts with shining eyes.

"How beautiful…"

"Beautiful, yes," Charlie said loudly, "but their combat power is no joke!"

He and several other wizards raised their wands at a Hungarian Horntail.

"Stupefy!"

Even with so many spells hitting it at once, the dragon struggled violently before finally crashing to the ground.

"Alright, Hagrid! You can come over now!"

Darren and Harry hurried forward.

Darren stared at the creatures called dragons with great interest.

Huge.

Ugly.

Terrifying to look at.

They were also extremely resistant to magic.

If Miss Soryu—the dragon who had visited during the summer—ever heard these things were also called "dragons," she might fly over just to slaughter them in fury.

Charlie glanced behind Hagrid.

"Why did you bring her here?"

Madame Maxime stood stiffly, clearly unwilling to go any closer.

"She'll tell her students," Charlie warned.

Hagrid scratched his head.

"It's… uh… a sort of date. I thought she'd like seeing them."

He gazed dreamily at the dragon on the ground.

Madame Maxime, on the other hand, looked utterly repulsed.

Darren thought bleakly that taking someone to see fire-breathing monsters on a first date might be one of the worst ideas in history.

No wonder she seemed so cold.

Hagrid suddenly asked, "So what will the champions have to do? Fight the dragons?"

Charlie shook his head.

"No. They'll probably have to grab something from the dragons, or survive under their guard. They won't just send them to die… though it's still extremely dangerous."

Harry noticed Darren's face turn pale.

"Brother," Darren said anxiously, "let's quit. I'll take you away."

He had already imagined Harry being swallowed whole.

"Let's leave, brother!"

Harry only realized what was happening when Darren dragged him away from the clearing.

His fear slowly turned into a helpless laugh.

Watching Darren panic over him somehow made his heart feel lighter.

"No, Darren," Harry said firmly. "If we quit, we'll die anyway. The Goblet's binding magic—you remember?"

Darren's eyes reddened.

"Brother… I'd rather die than watch you risk your life."

"I'm the so-called 'Savior,'" Harry said softly. "They won't abandon me so easily. But you're different. I'm worried about you."

Darren's eyes suddenly lit up.

"Right… you're the Savior! They'll definitely protect you!"

Harry didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

In the end, he held Darren's shoulders firmly.

"Don't be afraid. You take care of yourself, and I'll take care of myself. We'll survive this together."

Darren nodded hard.

He wanted to say a few more emotional lines to farm some Holy Father points—

But was interrupted by Charlie's voice.

"Harry and Darren are in the Triwizard Tournament, and Mom and Dad know about it.

They were so uncomfortable that Mom kept crying, and she said she hadn't noticed that Harry was a little jealous of Darren.

And Harry, Harry was still crying quietly in the bed at night.

She said she didn't know anything..."

Mother cried nonstop. She blamed herself .

She said she wasn't a good mother… that she should've fixed things between them sooner."

Darren had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing.

He turned to Harry with a worried expression.

"Brother…"

Harry's face flushed bright red.

"I don't cry under my covers at night! And I'm not jealous of you either! That's all Rita Skeeter's lies!"

Darren smiled helplessly.

"Brother, we really need to go now."

Harry exhaled.

"We're due in the common room in fifteen minutes. Should we say goodbye to Hagrid?"

Harry glanced back at Hagrid—completely absorbed in Madame Maxime and the dragons—and shook his head.

"Let's not disturb him. It's not easy for him to find a girlfriend."

So they ran.

On the way, someone suddenly bumped into them.

Darren pulled Harry aside.

The man stumbled and fell heavily.

Igor Karkaroff.

The pointed goatee made him unmistakable.

When he disappeared into the darkness, Harry muttered while running:

"I bet he went spying too. Now everyone knows the first task is dragons."

Darren sighed inwardly.

In the original timeline, only Cedric—who had no backer—was left in the dark.

Now everyone had inside information.

It really was unfair.

They sprinted the rest of the way.

Five minutes left.

When they burst into the Gryffindor common room, less than a minute remained.

A large black dog's head sat right in front of the fireplace.

Darren flinched.

At a glance, it looked like a severed head sitting in the flames.

"Sirius…" Darren began.

Sirius cut him off instantly.

"Come closer—are you hurt? The papers said you were taken by Death Eaters!"

"Oh, Sirius, Darren's fine," Harry said helplessly.

The injuries had healed long ago.

Sirius sighed.

"It's not that I forgot. I just didn't dare write about you in letters. One wrong word… and they'd track me down."

Then he looked at Harry.

"And you? Are you alright?"

Harry had been waiting to pour everything out.

Sirius listened quietly, then spoke in a low voice:

"Harry, I know what you've been going through. But listen carefully.

Stay vigilant.

Karkaroff is a Death Eater."

"What?! Then I'll go arrest him!" Darren blurted out.

"Don't be impulsive," Sirius warned. "The Ministry released him.

Openly."

Harry gasped. "They let him go?!"

"Yes. He sold out many Death Eaters when he was captured. That's why they released him.

Now everyone thinks he's just an informer.

But he's still dangerous."

Sirius' voice dropped even lower.

"Harry… I suspect your name was entered into the Goblet because of him.

And Darren's too."
