Chapter 5 - 5

Chapter 5

"Master? Good… morning Master Adrian", Martinez greeted again, thinking Adrian hadn't heard. But Adrian just continued to stare on at him, his eyes darting quickly away to other things. Martinez watched his master act strange. He touched his body like as if he couldn't believe he was alive and looked all over the place like he had never been there. This was a first.

"Master, are you okay?", Martinez asked in concern. Adrian just looked on, his face pale with shock and confusion.

"Certainly, I must get the home nurse", he said to himself finally. On hearing that, Adrian quickly stopped him as he was already on walking his way to the door.

"Hey! Hey! Stop!", Adrian called out to Martinez. His legs were already out if the duvet ready to catch up with him.

Martinez breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh master! For a minute there, I thought you had gone completely dumb, Master. You looked so lost. Is anything the matter, Master?"

"No…I'm fine. I am", Adrian replied, trying to look assuring.

"But you stilll look pale Master. I should get you some water"

Before Adrian could even respond, Martinez was already out the door.

"Christina!"

That was the next thing he heard from Martinez who seemed to be shouting from the hallway. Then Martinez mumbled something he couldn't quite make out and the next thing he heard was the sound of footsteps going down the stairs.

"Haaaaa"

Adrian breathed out a sigh that was more of frustration than relief. Everything was pretty still juggling in his head and he had no idea where the hell he was or who the hell he was now.

Suddenly, the door swung open.

"Hey Adrian. What's up? I need your wireless charger", an average heighted, slender pale skinned girl said. She spoke fast, in a not so feminine voice and moved around his room, not necessarily waiting for a reply as she was searching for the charger herself.

"I can't find it", she said, her dark long hair whipping up suddenly as she pulled her head up.

"M…mmm…my charger?", Adrian said confused.

"Yeah. The wireless one though - the charging pad. I used it yesterday but I'm pretty sure I returned it"

Her head went under the study desk across from him and she saw the charging pad. Stretching her hand across under the table, she pulled the cord and soon had the charger in her hands.

"Got it! Thanks Adrian"

She walked out hastily without shutting the door just when Martinez was about to enter. Martinez gave her a short sneering look before entering.

"She didn't even close the door", Martinez said in a low voice, coming towards him with a tray of bottle water and a tall glass atop it.

Adrian wanted to ask him who it was but he immediately had a change of mind.

'The way that servant guy acted…" Adrian thought. "Looks like I've been living here a long ass time. If I start asking questions like I know nothing.. of which I don't… they'll really think I'm crazy'

Martinez set the tray on the side table near Adrian and poured out the contents of the bottled water into the glass.

"Here Master. I apologize that I couldn't get you your favorite flavor of water." He handed the glass to Adrian with a slight bow.

"It's okay, It's fine", Adrian said, lifting the glass to his mouth. The water was clear but tasted slightly like blended cranberries and cucumbers.

"Oh no it isn't, Master! I instructed those daft kitchen staff members to order another supply but they still have not restocked the fridge with it and it's been over a week now, Master. They keep giving flimsy excuses." Martinez said, physically annoyed.

"I think they are starting to take you for granted, Master, and I think it's because you talk so kindly to them and you are always nice to them. Now the fools think they are on top of the world and they can do whatever they want"

"Maybe.. that's… maybe that's not the case", Adrian said nervously because hadn't yet learned the name of his servant.

"Oh Master, I tell you a fact.", Martinez said spitefully. He leaned in nearer to his master. In a low voice, it's loudness just a little above that of a whisper, he said,

"I think, Master, you should have them all sacked"

"Woah…", Adrian said, a little taken aback by the suggestion. Whatever beef his servant and the kitchen staff must be quite strong because that was a really wicked suggestion.

"You can't just have a whole staff sacked just like that?"

"Of course you can, Master. You are the first grandson of the Grayson family. You can do…"

"What?", Adrian asked in shock, almost choking on his water. He heard but he did not want to believe he'd heard what he had just heard.

"What did you say?"

"I said you are the first grandson of the Grayson family and in fact the first son and next heir after your very own father to be possessor of the Zillion dollar dynasty of the most prestigious, most popular and influential family in the country.", Martinez said, with pride in the tone of the short laughter he gave at the end.

"I mean personally, Master…."

Adrian's eyes widened in total shock. If Martinez was still talking, Adrian was definitely not listening because his mind had been totally blown away.

There was only one Grayson family he knew that was that rich, that popular and that influential as his servant had just described. That was The Graysons. The one and only Graysons of America.

"Oh… my God"

Damn!

They were filthy, stinking and wreaking of money! And did he just hear he was the prospective heir to all that fortune? He was… Adrian Grayson?

His mind had far gone because Martinez had to call on him several things to bring him back.

"Master!"

Adrian jolted back to reality.

"Are you okay, Master? You look pale all over again."

But Adrian didn't answer. The new information still juggled in his head, every realization hitting him hard.

"Oh, I should really get the nurse"
