Chapter 20 - Hidden Talent! The Chakra Nature Test!

A few days later, the air inside the Ninja Academy was thick with excitement. Today's class wasn't about theory or taijutsu—it was about chakra nature testing.

For most students, this was one of the most anticipated lessons of their young lives. It would determine the type of chakra they possessed— Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, or Lightning— and, by extension, which ninjutsu they would one day specialize in.

Every child dreamed of discovering a powerful nature affinity. The Uchiha clan, for example, were famous for their Fire Style. The Hyūga often possessed Wind or Earth affinities. Even the civilian-born hoped for something rare or flashy.

The classroom buzzed with voices: "I bet I'll get Fire Style like my dad! " "Wind Style sounds cool! " "I just don't want Earth… it's boring! "

Amid the chatter, Naruto sat silently near the back row, his chin resting on one hand, expression calm and unreadable.

The instructor walked in carrying a wooden box. Inside were dozens of small slips of pale paper. He set it on the desk and cleared his throat.

"Alright, everyone! These are chakra affinity test papers. They're made from special materials that react differently depending on your chakra nature. If you have Fire chakra, it burns. Water chakra makes it damp. Wind cuts it. Earth crumbles it. Lightning makes it wrinkle. "

He smiled. "Each of you will take one and channel a bit of chakra into it. Don't use too much or it'll disintegrate. "

Excited murmurs ran through the class.

The first student stepped up—a boy from the Uchiha clan. He placed the paper between his palms and focused. A second later, the sheet caught fire and burned to ash.

The crowd erupted with admiration. "Wow! Fire Style! " "Of course, he's an Uchiha! "

The boy smirked and walked back to his seat. Next came a girl from the Nara clan. Her paper crumbled to dust.

"Earth Style. As expected of the Nara family. "

Then an Aburame child—his paper wrinkled faintly.

"Lightning Style. Impressive. "

One by one, the students went up, each result met with cheers or groans.

When Sasuke's turn came, his paper also burst into flame. The girls squealed immediately. "Sasuke-kun got Fire! So cool! "

Sasuke nodded slightly, but his gaze flicked toward Naruto at the back of the room. For some reason, he was curious. He wanted to see what his result would be.

Finally, it was Naruto's turn. The instructor hesitated for a second before calling his name. "Uzumaki Naruto. "

The room quieted instantly. Even the chatter stopped. All eyes turned toward him—some wary, some mocking, and a few genuinely curious.

Naruto stood up calmly and walked to the front. He didn't fidget or glance around like the others. He simply took one of the chakra papers and held it loosely between his fingers.

The instructor watched carefully, ready to stop him at the first sign of trouble. Everyone knew about the Nine-Tails sealed inside him—if his chakra flared uncontrollably, it could cause chaos.

But Naruto's expression remained composed. He took a slow breath, then focused.

The chakra paper trembled faintly. At first, nothing happened. Then—

Rustle! The paper began to react—but not in one way.

The top edge split cleanly down the middle, as though cut by a blade. The bottom half instantly crumbled to dust. The remaining corner grew damp—then sizzled with a faint crackle of lightning before the entire sheet burst into flame and disintegrated completely.

The class gasped. "What the—? " "Did it just… do everything! ?" "Is that even possible! ?"

The instructor's eyes widened in disbelief. He snatched the remaining ashes from the table, but they turned to dust between his fingers.

"This… this can't be right, " he murmured. He turned to Naruto, stunned. "You… how much chakra did you use? "

Naruto tilted his head slightly. "Just a little. "

The instructor blinked. "Then that means…" He swallowed hard. "…you possess multiple chakra natures. "

The room exploded with noise. "Multiple! ? Isn't that only possible for elite jōnin! ?" "Even the Hokage only has two! " "He's lying—there's no way! "

Sasuke's eyes narrowed sharply. Even he, the Uchiha prodigy, had only one nature at this age. For Naruto to have several…It didn't make sense. But somehow, deep down, Sasuke believed it.

The instructor quickly composed himself. He forced a smile and said, "Well… this is highly unusual, Naruto. I'll report it to the Hokage immediately. For now, please take your seat. "

Naruto nodded quietly and returned to his desk. He could feel the entire class staring at him, whispering behind their hands. He ignored them. He wasn't surprised.

He already knew something like this would happen. After all, his Heaven-Defying Comprehension didn't just refine chakra—it perfected it.

He'd already sensed long ago that his chakra contained traces of all five elements. But seeing it confirmed so clearly… was still satisfying.

That afternoon, in the Hokage's office, Sarutobi Hiruzen sat in silence as he read the instructor's report.

His pipe trembled slightly between his fingers. "…All five elements…"

He looked up at the ANBU kneeling before him. "Is the report accurate? "

"Yes, Lord Hokage. I witnessed the test personally through remote observation. No signs of demonic chakra were detected. "

Hiruzen leaned back slowly. His brows furrowed, and his voice dropped to a low whisper. "All five nature affinities… That's something even Hashirama Senju and Minato Namikaze never achieved. "

He stared out the window toward the distant Academy building, his mind deep in thought. The boy was growing faster than anyone expected. Too fast.

In the shadows of the Hokage's office, another figure stirred. It was Danzo.

His voice was cold and sharp as steel. "So, it's true. "

He stepped forward, cane tapping lightly on the floor. "The Nine-Tails brat possesses all five elements. A talent like that is too dangerous to leave unchecked. "

Hiruzen's eyes hardened. "Danzo, I've warned you before. Stay away from him. "

Danzo sneered. "And watch while he grows beyond your control? You're a fool, Hiruzen. That boy isn't Konoha's hope—he's its ticking bomb. "

The two old men locked eyes. Neither spoke for several long seconds.

Then Danzo turned away. "Fine. Do as you wish. But when your sentimentality destroys this village… don't say I didn't warn you. "

He vanished into the shadows, leaving the Hokage alone with his thoughts.

Hiruzen exhaled softly, gazing once more at the afternoon sunlight filtering through the blinds. "Minato… Kushina… your child may surpass even the gods one day. "

He looked down at his trembling hand and murmured almost to himself— "I only pray he remembers which side of the fire he stands on. "

Meanwhile, at the Academy, Naruto was walking home, hands in his pockets, expression calm. He could still hear the whispers following him down the street.

"Did you hear? The demon fox has all five elements! " "That's not normal! " "He's dangerous! "

He didn't bother responding. He was used to it. But deep down, he couldn't help but smile faintly.

"All five natures, huh? " he murmured. "Guess it's time to start experimenting. "

The setting sun reflected in his eyes like molten gold. Each step he took left behind a faint ripple of chakra in the air—steady, vast, unstoppable.

The village might fear him now. But soon… they would have no choice but to bow.
