Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — The Shockwave

Spiritual Power: 37.

What kind of concept was that?

It was an explosive concept.

As mentioned before—on one's eighteenth birthday, reaching 20 points of spiritual power qualified a person to enter the Demon Realm and obtain a Devil Fruit ability.

Each time, the Tree of Demons would randomly spawn a number of fruits, each granting a different power.

According to official statistics:

Those with 20–25 points of spiritual power usually encountered ordinary Zoan-type or Paramecia-type fruits. Only in rare cases would a Logia-type appear.

With 26–30 points, the chance of a Logia fruit rose to one-third.

At 31–35 points, there was a fifty percent chance.

And anyone above 35 points was guaranteed to encounter a Logia fruit.

Moreover, every Logia user—as long as they survived long enough—had a near 100% chance of becoming a Seventh-Tier Sovereign.

And what was a Seventh-Tier Sovereign?

In Zhao Xuan's home province of Nanjiang, even the Provincial Governor himself was a Sovereign of the Seventh Tier.

Under Nanjiang's rule were dozens of cities, with a total population of hundreds of millions.

That was the level of power and status involved.

So it was no wonder that Zhong Jianguo and Li Jiangchang were so utterly shocked.

As the two stood frozen, stunned speechless, Zhao Xuan finally couldn't help himself.

He removed the helmet and asked, "Teacher Zhong, how was it?"

But when he looked up, both Zhong Jianguo and Li Jiangchang were staring blankly at the monitor, completely motionless.

Neither responded.

Seeing their dazed expressions, Zhao Xuan felt a flicker of realization.

He quickly turned around to look at the screen—

37!!

Seeing that glowing number, Zhao Xuan's eyes widened in sheer ecstasy.

"If nothing goes wrong, I'm guaranteed to get a Logia fruit! This is basically a god-tier start!"

Excitement flooded his chest—but also confusion.

Why was his spiritual power so abnormally high?

After thinking for a while, he could only come up with one explanation.

"It must be because of the transmigration."

That had to be it.

At that moment, Zhong Jianguo finally snapped out of his trance.

His reaction was… dramatic, to say the least.

First, he pinched himself hard, so hard that Zhao Xuan could hear the sharp intake of breath that followed.

Then he rubbed his eyes furiously, double-checking the screen.

When he finally confirmed he wasn't dreaming, the old teacher just stood there again—stunned.

After several seconds of silence, he stammered,"Z–Zhao Xuan… let's, uh, test it again. Maybe the machine's acting up."

"Alright, Teacher," Zhao Xuan said calmly, putting the helmet back on.

Zhong Jianguo pressed the button once more.

A few seconds later—

The screen once again displayed the unmistakable number: 37.

"This… this, this, this—!"

Zhong Jianguo's face flushed red as he stumbled over his words.

"Zhao Xuan, wait here! I need to make a call!"

He hurriedly pulled out his phone, dialing with trembling fingers.

"Hello, Principal? It's Zhong Jianguo! Great news—fantastic news! Our Tongcheng No.1 High School has a prodigy—a student with spiritual power over 35!"

Moments later—

Tap, tap, tap, tap!

A flurry of rapid footsteps echoed from the hallway.

Zhao Xuan turned to see nearly the entire school administration rushing in—the principal, the vice-principal, the academic director, and several other senior staff.

Zhong Jianguo hurried to greet them, whispering quickly before ushering them toward Zhao Xuan.

The principal, Jin Xueyang, smiled warmly, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"So this is Zhao Xuan, yes? Remarkable! Truly remarkable!"

"Hello, Principal," Zhao Xuan replied politely, neither humble nor arrogant.

"Zhao Xuan," Jin Xueyang said, "I've already heard from your teacher, but seeing is believing. If it's alright, could you test one more time for us?"

"Of course," Zhao Xuan agreed readily.

He reached for the helmet—but Jin Xueyang raised a hand.

"No, Zhao Xuan, let's use this new-generation detector instead. The school's old model has been around for decades—it's practically obsolete."

The principal handed him a brand-new mental detection helmet, gleaming with polished chrome.

"Alright then."

Zhao Xuan took it, placed it over his head, and the test began.

Seconds later—

The result appeared.

37.

Once again.

The room fell silent—then erupted in suppressed excitement.

Everyone's faces flushed with disbelief and joy.

"Good! Excellent! Excellent!" Jin Xueyang laughed heartily. "Zhao Xuan, your birthday is in two days, correct?"

"Yes, Principal," Zhao Xuan nodded.

"Then rest well these next few days. Don't exhaust yourself. Here—take these."

The principal handed him a finely crafted wooden box.

Inside were ten shimmering, crystal-like fruits.

"These are Spirit-Nurturing Fruits. They help replenish and strengthen spiritual power. Eat one or two if you ever feel tired."

Each fruit cost 100,000 credits on the market.

Ten fruits—a million credits worth.

For the school principal to personally gift such treasures—

It was clear just how extraordinary Zhao Xuan's talent truly was.

So extraordinary… that even the head of the school couldn't resist forming a connection early.
