Chapter 3 - 3: Gacha

Turning my gaze, I could tell this place was fancy. A minimalist style with matte black everywhere I looked. Not to mention the view straight toward downtown and a river cloaked in thick mist.

"Hello?"

I adjusted my glasses and walked across the marble heated floor toward what seemed to be the main living area, where the kitchen, dining room, and family room blended together. However, when I looked around, I found no one.

"Damn, look at those ceilings."

I'm broke as hell, so this totally overwhelmed me.

I sat down on the sofa and spotted a white sheet on the small round table.

"If you're reading this, we apologize for reincarnating you into this world. If you've learned the truth that you've died, then you no longer live in the world you used to..."

I frowned. You installed a system in me, so why did you write it on paper?

"Hah... okay. As compensation, we figured you wouldn't want to be reincarnated as a baby, hmm..."

That's true. Good call.

"So we assigned you a new body based on a character you might already know."

Really?

"As of right now, your name is Takakura Ken. Now that I think about it, this boy was in Dandadan, wasn't he?"

I glanced back at the paper.

"We've also given you the Multiverse Gacha System to help with your growth. Well, I already know that, so let's skip it for now. You can travel to a new world once you complete all the main events in the world you're currently in."

After reading all that, I reached the end of the letter.

"Currently, you have the best accommodations. Sixty million dollars in your bank account, vehicles, penthouse you're staying in right now, located in Gangnam, Seoul. Lastly, we disagree that Frieren is a better anime than Solo Leveling. With that in mind, we believe it's best for you to start in the Solo Leveling world as your first world that hopefully you might change your mind."

I crumpled the paper. "Mother... fucker..."How dare this ROB say my GOAT Frieren's aura is inferior to Jin-Woo's? Such blasphemy. This fucker thought money would solve it. Well, if they could double it, at least I might consider it.

I took a deep breath.

It is what it is. I'm dead, so let's adapt to this world.

[Would you like to start?]

Here we go again.

All I needed to do was think it then floating blue screens popped up.

[We will start the introduction. The Multiverse Gacha System allows you to draw rewards from many worlds across the multiverse. By completing main tasks, you can roll depending on task difficulty.]

[Tier rewards are classified as Junk, Normal, Rare, Super Rare, Super-Super Rare, and Ultra Rare!]

[Each task you complete would gives you achievement points that you can use to pull additional cards!]

I see. So I can pull cards using points too. Shit, I already know this won't be good for my mental health, gacha addiction is basically the same as drug addiction. No wonder Frieren is so obsessed with Mimic.

[Please choose your class before we proceed!]

[Warrior] [Mage] [Assassin] [Healer] [Tank] [Fighter] [Ranger]

Each class has its advantages and drawbacks. For me, Mage has the most potential compared to the others. All these classes use Mana as their main power source, but Mages truly understand how to harness Mana to its fullest. Unlike other classes, Mage doesn't have cool down after using magic.

I could go on forever about this, but the main reason I'm choosing Mage is because my GOAT Frieren is a mage. The bitch who sent me here thinks SL is a better anime, so I have to prove her wrong. And come to think of it, it's funny that Jin-Woo is classified as a mage too. What a fraud.

[You have chosen Mage as your class.]

]You'll have an 80% chance to get something related to your specific class.]

[Class-related rewards will be extracted to Grimoires.]

The what?

[As a tutorial, you have been granted a 1000 AP pull to experience the Gacha System!]

[2500 AP lets you pull 2 times with a 30% chance to get an Ultra Rare (UR) tier card.]

[1500 AP lets you pull 3 times with a 40% chance to get a Super-super Rare (SSR) tier card.]

[1000 AP lets you pull 4 times with a 50% chance to get a Super Rare (SR) tier card.]

[500 AP lets you pull 5 times with a 65% chance to get a Rare (R) tier card.]

[200 AP lets you pull 6 times with an 85% chance to get a Normal (N) tier card.]

[50 AP lets you pull 9 times with a 100% chance to get a Junk (J) tier card.]

Ugh, so stingy. I was hoping to get a free SSR at least but a free gacha pull is still a pull. I won't refuse anything free. If this were a game, I'd throw money at it without hesitation. So anyway, at the moment I can only roll up to SR tier, huh? Hold on, the 500 AP I got after she sniffed me.

I opened the notification again.

[You have cleared the quest: Let Cha Hae-in smell you.]

[Prize: 1x SR gacha pull, and 500 achievement points]

[Achievement Points: 1500]

I knew it! (dance meme) This is what I'm talking about! Now I can roll 1500 AP SSR card roll and SR roll. First, let's roll the gacha I got from the quest prize.

[Confirm! Rolling SR tier cards]

[Item has been saved in the inventory. Would you like to extract all the Magic Spells?]

"Not bad! Alright, I'm ready…"

[Confirm!]

I was so excited I opened my arms to use them right away.

[All spells have been extracted. All Grimoires have been saved to the inventory.]

"I see...."

I opened the inventory option and selected three Grimoires. A faint, mist-like vapor appeared in my hands as three thick books materialized.

I see. So by "the system" they mean it will extract any reward related to my class into Grimoires. I thought it would install in my head right away. Rookie mistake, but it's fine.

"This will take time to read. Which one should I read first?"

Jilwer, Clean, and the thicker one, Phalanx. At a single glance, Phalanx would be the hardest spell to learn. Anyway, I have 1500 AP to spend. Knowing I need to get strong through studying magic, I shouldn't be farming points.

[You've used 1500 AP for 1x SSR tier roll!]

[Commence rolling!]

[Aqua]

Origin: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World

[Cloak of Levitation]

[Harry Potter's Wand]

[Items have been saved to inventory]

[Error has occurred]

[Cloak of Levitation refused to be stored in the inventory.]

A red fabric fluttered in the air, its tip crossing as if mimicking how people show annoyance. It didn't make a sound, but if it could, it would probably say, 'What the hell was that, man?'

"Are you angry?"

The collar jolted in a comical way, as if saying yes. I didn't know it had such a big ego.

"It won't happen again, okay?" I said as I pulled out a slime from my inventory. "Will this count as peace?"

Did I just try to bribe it? Yes. And when it saw the slime in my palm, the cloak reached for it or rather, sucked the slime causing the red fabric to turn black.

"You like it?"

The cloak formed a thumbs-up with its fabric and began flying around the place. It seemed to be testing how the slime worked on it. Anyway...

[Would you like to start the template assimilation?]

So the gacha has character assimilation too? Still, I wonder why it says that the useless goddess has high intelligence. I don't recall it. Kazuma even mentioned that her intelligence never increased, even she had the highest level among her party members.

Before starting the assimilation, I want to confirm something.

Uh-huh. I see that the system has a different interpretation of what "Intelligence" means. Although it never explained it directly, I can guess what these attributes represent. Strength, Agility, and Vitality seem to follow the usual RPG logic, but the rest feel similar to Elden Ring.

Anyway, the most important stats for me to invest in will be Sense, Mind, and Intelligence. I think Mind and Intelligence, in particular, will matter most for a mage build. Intelligence is 14, and since my level is 1, it matches my MP, which means Intelligence likely represents Mana.

Mind, on the other hand, should affect how I handle spell complexity like how long it takes to complete a spell etc. Just like a computer, Mind would be the brain that calculates everything, while Intelligence would be the power source that fuels it to run the software called Magic.

In battle, that difference could decide whether I live or die if I can't cast spell fast enough. As for Sense, it might relate to how sensitive I am to Mana. It mostly would be reaction time then counter.

So far, it's only my guess, so I have to test it in real time.

Now then.

[Confirm!]

[Commence assimilation…]

It took just a second to complete. During the process, I felt… strange and kind of holy.

[Complete!]

Harry Potter's Wand

When I saw this… holy glaze! Like, literally holy. The glow after assimilation couldn't get more divine. 75 in Intelligence and 230 in Faith is absolutely ridiculous! But when I noticed [Resurrection] in my spell list, it all made sense.

I had underestimated Aqua too much because of her personality. She's still a goddess, after all.

So the system wasn't wrong. Even if she has low intelligence in terms of IQ, her Intelligence stat reflects her enormous mana pool. Mind stat didn't increase at all, which as I expected, she wouldn't be fit to become a Mage. Still, now I've become the fraud here. I'm supposed to be a mage, but I look more like a healer.

But hold on. I feel like she should've been stronger than this.

[Aqua]

Origin: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World

Type: Template Assimilation

Tier: SSR

Description: Aqua is the Goddess of Water with high intelligence and holy attributes. Her power comes from her status as a goddess and her believers. The more followers she has, the stronger she becomes.

I see now. Aqua draws her power from her followers! Meanwhile, I don't have anyone who idolizes me like those monkeys behind their keyboards. My conclusion is that these must be her base stats when she doesn't have a single believer.

Anyway, all that's left is to level up.

[Ding!]

[Daily task begins!]

Push-ups: 0/100

Sit-ups: 0/100

Squats: 0/100

Run: 0/10 km

Meditation: 0/1 hour

Aura Concealment: 0/12 hours

So it begins. The daily workout routine to go bald has finally arrived before me.

[Ding!]

[Cheer up, host! Here's some wisdom for you: You either go bald working out or live long enough to experience hair loss in old age!]

Cheer up, my ass.
