Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The birthday party(1)

Diamond woke up with a splitting headache. She tried recalling last nights escapade but the more she tried, the more her head banged.

The last place she could recall herself in was the club and now she was on her bed. It must have been Tanya who brought her home.

She sluggishy reached for her phone in her bag, scrolling through her phone, she quickly jerked up.

"Oh no, the birthday party".

Diamond rushed out of bed and into the shower and within minutes she was out.

She got dressed and put on a light makeup before putting her phone in her bag and darting out of her room.

She knew Tanya would be at work by now so she quickly moved around the house to make sure the high risk appliances were all switched off and to her surprise they were all switched off.

Not wanting to waste anymore time she hastily left the house.

She was glad when she found a taxi and soon she had reached her destination.

Diamond gasp as she stood in front of an enormous and extravagant mansion. Though the estate itself looked grand and the houses around were impressive, she didn't expect to see a mansion this big, it wasn't like the rest of the houses in the estate. She could only guess that the owners were filthy rich.

She looked at the address in her phone to make sure she was at the right place and became nervous when it showed that she was at the right place.

She looked at the mansion once more again. The atmosphere seemed busy as there where people running here and there trying to fix and arrange things for the party.

Summoning courage, Diamond knocked on the huge gate. She was about knocking again when the gate keeper suddenly appeared, startling her.

"Oh", she said in a surprised manner.

"And who are you".

"Good morning sir, I'm here to serve at the birthday party".

"Not quite the answer to my question. Alright then can I see your passcode", the man said and Diamond quickly showed him her phone.

The man nodded and then opened the gate, letting her in.

,"wow", she gasp as she entered the compund.

She looked around her. There were gardens almost every where that bore flowers of different colours. Diamond took sight of a fountain, it was beautiful, everything was beautiful and she had never seen anything like it. She felt like running around it.

Waving off her thoughts she briefly moved towards the Mansion.

"One of the servers I guess".

Diamond quickly swiveled to the sound of the voice. Her gaze fell on a middle aged woman dressed in a beautiful flow gown. The woman carried an intimidating yet calm aura that seemed to confuse her. Diamond guessed she was in charge and perhaps the owner of the house as she seemed to command respect from the people working.

"Good morning ma", she said but was interrupted by the woman.

"You are quite late".

"I'm sorry ma'am", there was a traffic jam, she lied.

"Hmm, I see", the woman said looking her from up to down.

Diamond felt small under the woman's scrutiny, she suddenly felt relieved when the woman began to speak again.

"Well then, follow me", Diamond walked briefly as the woman already began walking, and she was surprisingly fast.

"we have lots of work to do, and the party will soon begin".

They walked into the mansion which looked even better from the inside. The mansion was being decorated by some interior designers. Diamond thought their work was impressive and from the decorations she could tell that it was some high class interior designers that were hired.

"Watch your step".

She was suddenly pulled out of thoughts by the woman's voice.

"Yes ma'am", she said and decided to concentrate on where they were going.

They took a turn and then straight ahead before walking through a door that led them to the kitchen where confectionaries and delicacies were been made.

"This is the kitchen where you will be serving from, you and the others will be guided on how and where to serve by the kitchen staffs".

With that being said, the woman turned and left.

Diamond could now relax as she looked around. The kitchen was large and exquisite, this people were filthy rich and and....

She was cut off by the aroma of the delicacies and confectionaries.

"Oh it smells divine". She said to herself.

She quickly got to work, helping the others arrange plates, trays and glasses.

Do not mess this up, she said to herself, recalling last night's disaster, how she had mistook someone else for Tanya, and had spilled drink on a guy.

The guy, Diamond paused, her thoughts lingering more on the blue eyed guy she had spilled drink on.

He's so full of pride she thought before dismissing her thoughts.

The party had began and you could hear the buzzing of the music from the kitchen.

She noticed there was a large circle on the kitchen door that was sealed with glass.

She moved towards it and a smile made it's way to her face when she saw that she could see the parlour and the guest coming in through it.

The guest were of high class and their outfits could cost a fortune.

Diamond turned as she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"It's time to serve" said a lady who she guessed was one of the kitchen staffs.

"Follow me", the lady said and Diamond quickly followed her to a corner where all the confectionaries were been laid out on a large tray on the counter.

She could see that the other girls were already gathered there and she quickly joined them.

"These are the confectionaries to be served, each of your trays will be refilled here and you are to work diligently", the head staff spoke.

They where assigned to where they would serve and Diamond was assigned to serve upstairs.

Her tray was filled with confectionaries that were wrapped in serviette.

She quickly made her way out of the kitchen and to the parlour and then went up the stairs filled with people.

She served the people she came across and soon her tray was empty.

She quickly went downstairs and to the kitchen where her tray was been refilled again and she darted out of the kitchen and up the stairs, minding her steps as not to trip and fall.

She walked round another corner, serving anyone she came across until her tray was empty.

She decided to rest a little as she had been walking. She pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket and wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead and let out a deep breath.

She felt like going home, her comfort zone but she quickly waved off the feeling as she remembered that she was going to be paid three hundred dollars.

She summoned courage and decided to walk around a little just to relax before she would go back down stairs to refill her tray.

Oh that stairs, she dreaded the stairs as it made her knee ache.

She strolled along a path that was filled with paintings of artistic value. The paintings were so beautiful that she found herself staring at them when she suddenly heard voices approaching.

"Oh no"

she was going to get caught.
