Chapter 2 - Adaptation

Gojo sat there for a while, just watching the world from his little corner of Rukongai.

No one kicked him out. No one even looked his way.

Maybe because everyone here was already used to seeing kids starve, disappear, or just… stop existing.

This place didn't care.

And weirdly enough he liked that.

No students whining.

No Jujutsu council nagging about "rules" and "tradition."

No one telling him what he "should" or "shouldn't" do.

Just… freedom.

The dirty, dusty kind.

"So this is the afterlife, huh? No cursed spirits, no sorcerers… just broke ghosts with no home."

He yawned.

"Heh. Peaceful world if you ignore the fact everyone here's starving."

Gojo stood up.

Time for some experiments.

He raised his hand, trying to summon cursed energy.

Nothing.

"Yeah, figures. Like turning on a TV when the plug's in the wrong socket."

Six Eyes processed instantly.

This world's energy Reishi was pure. Too pure. No negative emotion, no "curse" base layer.

Meaning: no curses → no cursed energy → Reverse Cursed Technique… dead.

"RCT: offline. Infinity: semi-online. Blue and Red? Hmm…"

Gojo pressed his fingers together—the Blue trigger.

There should have been a gravitational pull.

Blip.

Just a little air vibration, then nothing. No distortion. No pull.

"…Yeah, not compatible."

He tried Red. Same result.

No push. No energy burst.

Not that his techniques were gone just the fuel source was different.

Infinity, though… still worked. Sort of.

But it didn't auto-run. He had to manually channel Reishi instead of cursed energy.

Like forcing an Android charger into an iPhone port.

"So yeah, I'm still untouchable just running on low battery."

He lowered the barrier. No enemies. No point in showing off.

Cursed Energy

Gone completely

Reverse Cursed Technique

Offline (needs CE)

Limitless

Works, with manual Reishi control

Blue / Red / Purple

Offline (needs positive/negative CE)

Six Eyes

100% active & adaptive

Sensing

Can read Reishi structure perfectly

"It's like loading an old game with my save file still intact. Just gotta grind the new energy type."

He didn't look frustrated.

If anything… he looked excited.

Gojo Satoru wasn't the kind of man to panic when he lost power he just saw it as a new puzzle to break.

~

Gojo wandered the streets.

The people here looked like zombies non-hostile, just… empty.

They didn't need to eat to survive, but they still felt hungry.

Because hunger here wasn't physical it was mental.

Kids slept in alleys.

Adults sat in silence.

No structure. No order. No guards. No schools. No purpose.

No life. Just existence.

Gojo stopped at a small bridge, looking down at the murky stream.

"So this is the afterlife… the uncensored version, huh?"

He almost laughed.

In his world, monsters were born from humans.

Here?

Humans didn't need monsters to look broken.

He crouched, touching the water.

Reishi filled everything air, ground, even the flow beneath his fingers.

The entire realm was made of compressed spiritual matter.

Six Eyes auto-analyzed immediately

Input detected: base Reishi structure

Conclusion: stable spiritual-realm environment

Adaptation potential: high

"Nice," he thought. "If I can sync my old system with this world's energy… I might just break its ceiling."

He stood up.

And for the first time since waking up, Gojo smiled

Not his usual lazy grin, but that 'I just found a new toy' smile.

~

As he stood there, something faint rippled through the air.

Not from him but from somewhere far away.

A small device, deep within the Seireitei, flickered.

A thin needle on a monitor trembled not a red alert, not an emergency just a slight, irregular spike.

"Hmm," a bored researcher in Division 12 muttered. "Tiny fluctuation… non-standard Reishi signature. Around District 72. Log it."

No panic. No squad dispatched.

Just one small note entered into the system.

But it was enough.

Gojo had no idea.

But the Soul Society had just recorded his existence for the first time.

Not as a threat.

Not as a target.

Just as an anomaly.

And for Gojo Satoru…

"Anomaly" was just another way of saying

"I'm starting to get noticed."
