Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Creating Clones for the First Time

"It's great to be home once more!" Fu Xian said once he returned to his own yard.

It wasn't large, only the size of a house with a garden. Fortunately, it was build in the style of a temple, rather open.

There were only three rooms in the temple and a pavilion outside, where he could drink tea and enjoy his time.

"With my breakthrough, I can rent a higher spiritual vein and even expand the space of his yard. What should I do?

Hmm… I could expand the temple a bit, but the rest should remain the same. Maybe I should just open a field in my backyard and grow talisman grass myself!"

Although he said so, his steps were in fact hurried, wishing to enter his room as fast as possible.

His previous nonchalant attitude was fully gone, he just wanted to try his hands with the talisman as fast as possible!

There were three rooms in the temple: Talisman room, Bedroom and Cultivation Room.

He entered his bedroom at this moment, sitting on his futon as he communicated with his Innate Aspect in his middle dantian.

Although it was called an aspect and didn't have a mind of its own, it was basically a projection of Fu Xian's own mind, so it had some intelligence and could explain its own purpose and ability better.

Soon, he understood how it worked.

To create a reincarnation, he would have to expend his origin. His soul was the main point in his origin, but his essence and spiritual power were required to form the secondary talisman and send it towards reincarnation.

He could fully decide how much he wanted to use. The save limit was 50%, everything beyond that could become dangerous and affect his real body too much.

As an innate aspect, it wouldn't harm him, so the expended origin would grow back over time, during that time, it was as if he had a naturally smaller dantian and weaker soul, he wasn't injured at all.

He instantly wanted to test his ability and got the message that at his current stage, he had to use at least 10% of his origin to create a clone. He could also use more.

To make sure it wouldn't affect him too much, he decided to only create three talisman, expending 30% of his origin.

As he willed the talisman, he felt a weird sensation. It was as if his vision was becoming weaker in real time.

Although his body didn't age, he felt a bit weaker, his newfound strength from before vanishing in an instant. Even when he thought of things, he seemed to be slower, and the circulation of spiritual power was even more affected, not only was it slow, he couldn't even fill the whole space he could fill before.

If before he could fill 1% of the dantian, now it was only 0.7%.

The change was drastic, but just as the talisman said, his body wasn't severely affected.

His thinking was slightly slower, but in normal circumstances, it wouldn't bother him. His spiritual power recovery and storage was lower, but it was fine, after all, he could constantly absorb it. As for his body… he didn't care much about it in the first place, so there was really no harm done.

While testing his situation, he also waited for the talisman to complete.

This process took a few minutes until finally, three talismans appeared in front of him.

But, before he could even observe them, they fell to the ground.

Right there, a light seemed to shine, and the talisman, sucked into the light, disappeared in an instant.

He was confused, that was it? Nothing more?

Time passed, minutes and hours, before he finally received a message.

By then, it was nearly a day that had passed.

He suddenly saw his talisman appearing in his vision, even though it was still in his dantian.

Then, he saw how the talisman slowly blurred, before finally, it transformed into a near transparent white film in front of him.

He was able to move around the film, sizing it differently.

Just as he allowed the film to remain the way it was for a few moments, it flickered, and suddenly, colours came in.

Finally, a minute later, Fu Xian saw something that shocked him!

It was like a TV! Only, this was a first-person show!

And the instant he saw the picture, a stream of information fell into his brain, as if a connection was established!

Yan Kingdom, Green Rock County, Counter Town, Lin Family Residence.

Today was the day of spiritual root testing of the new generation!

It's been many years since the last time, and several young geniuses appeared in the family!

"Children of the clan, today we will test your spiritual roots! Our Lin family has been one of the key families in this Green Rock County Town for two hundred years, standing steadfast as a foundation building clan among the many families and clans!

Our family will rely on you children to carry on our inheritance!"

The children present were all tested to have roots, just their quality was questionable.

Just as one of the young boys, Lin Yiyuan, looked at the front, his elder, with an attentive look, he heard a sound in his ear.

[Wow, two hundred years! I'm three hundred years old, does it mean I have the heritage of a foundation building clan? No way, I'm already an origin light senior now!]

Neither the young boy nor the others heard the voice.

Fu Xian, on the other side, tried a few more words, being a bit provocative, but it seemed there was no reaction. Maybe his commentary was only for himself, and he didn't actually influence anything!

Just then, he heard a murmur coming from Yiyuan "Just two hundred years… our foundation is weak, not even comparable to an origin light senior!" his eyes lighted up with ambition as he lined up to get his spiritual roots tested.

[No way? Do my words influence? Hmm…] he waited, but seeing there was no reaction to his other words, he had to change his guess [The first thing I said was really my thought, so could by thoughts, ideas and wishes influence the clone?

It does make sense in a way… it's just that this indirect influence is a bit bad, and my own clones can't even benefit from my knowledge!]

Just as he said so, he heard his innate aspect responding: as long as he paid, he could take certain knowledge from a clone and transform it into his own, or he could send his knowledge to a clone and make it a talent.

The cost was equal to creating a new talent: 10% of his origin.

He didn't want to rush things, so he waited.

As time passed and others were tested, some coming out with smiles while others were depressed, it was finally Yiyuan's turn.

He walked measured and calm, his spirit of a higher rank. Even though he wasn't a copy of Fu Xian, his thoughts and demeanour influenced him, which is why subtly, Yiyuan's previous personality developed towards Fu Xian's kind and calm yet also decisive and confident personality.

The elder that tested the roots looked at the boy and felt that he had a bit of talent, at least he looked better than the other boys and girls who were scared into idiots.

Yiyuan placed his hand on a shining white pearl. Inside, the lights were being charged.

[Wow, what is this shit? Such a lowly item to test roots, not even testing how far they have been formed, just his affinity… how many geniuses were wronged because they had five roots, even though all these five roots were divine roots? It seems this Yan Kingdom is either in a different world, or in a smaller part of the world.]

After all, Fu Xian only knew the larger powers in the world by reading the anecdotes in the city library, and his own experience was also reduced to a minor kingdom. But he was in the capital, where his roots were instantly measured correctly.

Maybe the Green Rock Town was just too far away from power? After all, it wasn't even a prefectural capital…

A few moments later, three lights rose from the pearl: green, white and red.

While the elder was surprised, he was happy "Three roots! Very good! You are among the good batch, with even the chance for foundation building in the future!"

As he said so, he praised the boy several times, but Yiyuan, slowly accepting the personality and thoughts, suddenly felt he didn't know enough about his roots and that just knowing their affinity wouldn't help much.

Just then, there was a small light in his forehead. No one noticed it, but in that split second, Fu Xian was able to do something.

[Even though I'm not able to control, after all, this is like a clone of mine, so it had a few of my abilities… maybe this is also proof that this clone is in the same world as me.

Anyways… these roots are pretty bad. In the first place, wind destroys wood and wood burns with fire. Without wood, the flame is only able to slightly melt the metal, not fully.

This results in a pretty bad situation of disharmony. Even worse is that these three roots, although they look nice, are actually just at the limit of mysterious runes, 50% formed.]

He shook his head, thinking of ways to solve this disharmony and harmful root.

Meanwhile, Fu Xian was deeply concentrated on the elder. It was another elder – he had just ben send to a side room where he was told he'd learn directly from a higher cultivator.

In fact, the previous ones in the family that came out were all four and five roots. The four roots were happy because at least it was guaranteed they could reach the late stage of qi refining in their life.

Only Yiyuan was told by the elder to show his face a bit outside and then go into one of the side rooms next to the testing room. He also shouldn't tell others his three roots but instead say he had four roots, adding the water root.

Apparently, they wanted to keep his roots a secret.
