Chapter 1 - Chapter One — “The Abyssal Laugh”

In a world where humans, humanoid creatures, fairies, ghouls, orcs, and many other beings coexisted, a fragile balance prevailed. The world pulsed with life… until the Six Overlords appeared: cosmic entities bearing corruption, destruction, and torment.

They annihilated everything.

They ended all human life.

Other creatures tried to resist, tried to defend themselves… but found no equal. They hid, trembled, and vanished from sight.

As for humans, they clung to a futile hope: a legend of a human knight, clad in terrifying black armor, who would one day rise and defeat the Overlords.

> What a joke!

A long, manic laugh echoed like a sound from the void:

> "Ha… hahahaha… Savior? The world? What world? The world we were born into? Us, the Six? The world that has been dying every day since we began?"

She held her little doll, staring at it as if it were her only friend, a deadly smile spreading across her lips:

> "Let me tell you our story from the beginning…

From the moment fear and greed birthed the first creature, to the moment we became the Six Overlords…

Six Overlords, each of us a legend of different corruption:

Azelrath, the King of Ruin… the scream of pride that shattered mountains.

Sarin, the Pale Huntress… who kills merely out of boredom.

Morfath, the Hollow King… who devours every weak heart.

Filmira, the Crimson Scar… beauty that vomited its own blood.

Kinrith, the Silent Breaker… a voice that knows no mercy.

And I… Liren… the Fragile Abyss… small, weak, yet capable of shattering souls with a single smile."

She paused, then turned toward the shadows… there, silent, stood the mysterious knight. He did not move or speak. His silence alone evoked terror.

> "Ah… yes, you there. Silent, like those who think themselves heroes.

Every cycle of time, every moment humans believed they had hope, you were here… watching and doing nothing.

Why? Because the world doesn't need a hero… it needs someone who laughs at every attempt to save it."

Another bitter laugh, long and manic, echoing like a void:

> "Come, listen to me. Let me tell you everything…"

She stopped, shocked, speaking to herself:

"Wait… that human wears the same black armor and has the same build… could it be…? Fffff… hahahaha! Impossible! It must be a disguised fool, one of those naive 'heroes'…"

Her tone became irritated, a fake smile playing on her lips:

> "Why are you silent? Do you think staying quiet makes you imposing or something?"

She stepped closer, her eyes scorching the air:

> "Listen, you filthy human… I am Liren. I may be the weakest of the Overlords, but I've killed over a thousand like you. Don't expect to boss me around or get near me."

The air grew tense. Her heartbeat raced with the steps of the silent knight, standing before her as if the whole world had stopped.

She smiled maniacally, slammed the ground with her rage, and a wave of blood erupted, twisting into threads that swirled around him:

> "Come if you think you can!" she shouted, and her doll echoed a small explosion of shadow.

She leaped high, wielding all the power she had learned over millennia, striking him with threads of blood, unleashing a rapid series of attacks like a storm.

But the knight… he moved simply. One step, then another. Not supernaturally fast—only supernaturally intelligent.

Every strike, every thread, every leap, he read and evaded, as air slips through outstretched fingers.

Liren muttered to herself:

"Impossible… he dodges everything so easily, as if he knows every move… This can't be!"

The battle escalated. Each of her movements exploded with light and shadow. The dolls multiplied, moving like an army of ghosts, raining fire upon the knight.

Yet the silent knight, without magical armor or spells, only with extraordinary human skill, twisted, jumped, and moved in unpredictable paths, every step seeming preordained.

She laughed angrily, screaming at him:

> "See?! See that I can destroy you?! Come on… try to dodge all my power!"

She slammed the ground again, and a red wave soared upward, striking the walls, exploding in the air like blazing stars.

Yet the knight… one step, and all the blood scattered harmlessly. All her attacks failed. Every skill crumbled before his simple brilliance.

Liren, in rage:

> "Then die, you wretch…"

Suddenly, she felt something strange… pressure on her neck.

Liren whispered to herself:

"Ah… what is this on my neck… this hurts… my power… no… my power… where is it going?!"

She spoke to herself, terrified:

"I've never felt defeat like this in centuries."

> She whispered: "How…? How can a human evade everything… when I possess cosmic power?"

Liren, in panic: "No… don't tell me I'm going to die… no no no!"

Liren screamed in fear: "Nooooooooooooooo, please don't kill me! I'm scared! Please!"

The knight stepped closer, face-to-face, cold yet precise:

> "How many humans and creatures begged the same thing from you?"

Liren, terrified and tearful:

> "…"

> Knight: "My mother, father, and little sister… they were killed by you. Do you think I would show mercy?"

Liren collapsed:

> "…I'm sorry…"

> Knight, mocking: "A joke? 'Sorry'… is that all you can say? Will it bring them back?"

Liren, tears streaming:

> "…No… please…"

> Knight, with contempt: "And now… guilt? Wondering how to atone for your crimes too late?"

Liren lowered her head, knowing her end had come, with no escape from death.

The knight sighed calmly:

> "Fortunately… my mother, father, and little sister are alive elsewhere."

Liren lifted her head, astonished:

> "What?!"

Suddenly, the knight held her head:

> "Listen… just because they are alive doesn't mean I forgive all the crimes you and the humans committed. But you're a child. If you truly want to purify your sins… I will help. But beware… do not betray me. Understood?"

Liren, trembling:

> "Yes… I agree…"

> Knight: "Good… now wear this mask. It will help change your appearance and hide your identity. Don't think any creature will accept you, not even the Overlords, if they knew you were defeated."

Liren whispered to herself:

"Strange… how did he know the other Overlords would consider me useless if I lost? Does he know they'd kill me? Anyway… he didn't kill me. This isn't the end of the game… only the beginning… the true beginning. And I will take revenge… I'll make him regret the day he humiliated me."
