Chapter 1 - “The Promise of Red Eyes”

"The Promise of Red Eyes"

Aarini was a quiet, gentle girl. For her, love was never a game—she loved with her whole heart, and broke with her whole heart. When she met Veer, something inside her awakened—a kind of love that slowly turned into attachment, and attachment turned into obsession.

Veer never understood how deeply Aarini loved him. For her, Veer wasn't just a person; he was the reason she breathed.

One rainy evening, when thunder rolled across the sky, Aarini went to the old iron bridge to meet Veer. She waited for hours, but Veer never came. The wind screamed, lightning flashed, and the raging river pulled her into its darkness. As she sank, her last word was—"Veer…"

When Veer learned of her death, something inside him shattered. Love twisted into madness, and madness spread inside him like a black disease. He was convinced the world, fate, and the strange forces of that night had stolen Aarini from him.

On the nearby hill stood an old, half-abandoned army base—rumored to be conducting secret experiments with forbidden weapons. Veer believed Aarini's death was its consequence.

At midnight, the heavy gates of the base creaked open on their own. Drenched in rain, Veer walked inside. His eyes were red—burning like a demon's fire. Behind him floated another figure… Aarini. Long hair drifting, white eyes, her body suspended in the air—as if she were still drifting in the river.

The base lights flickered. Alarms went off without cause. Soldiers saw shadows racing across walls where no one stood. Metal tables bent on their own, and locked doors burst open with explosive force.

Veer kept walking. His steps calm, but destruction followed everywhere. Soldiers screamed, but neither his pace slowed, nor Aarini's spirit calmed. A cold whisper echoed through the entire base—

"The promise must be fulfilled…"

By morning, the entire base was reduced to ash. Burnt silhouettes clung to the walls—like something had melted them into the concrete.

And Veer?

He was last seen on the hilltop…

where two silhouettes stood holding hands in the mist—

one no longer alive, and the other no longer human.
