Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

THE ALPHA MOON RISES

It was raining when they returned to Silvercrest.

Not a storm—just soft, steady rain that washed away ash and blood, soaking into the soil like an old blessing finally returned. The gates opened before them without command. Wolves lined the path, their eyes wide, their heads bowed.

Luna walked at the front.

Kael at her side. Asher just behind.

Brin, Rae, and Nyla followed, each bearing signs of battle and victory.

But no one spoke of the Vale.

Not yet.

Inside the Pack Hall, Luna stood before the Stone of Naming—where every Alpha since the First Moon was sworn. She placed her hand upon it, the ancient magic sparking beneath her fingers.

"I am Luna Morgan. Daughter of Silvercrest. Blood of Moonlight. Bearer of the broken and the reborn. I do not ask for a crown. I do not take a throne. I carry a vow."

She looked out at the wolves gathered before her.

"I vow to lead. To protect. To listen. To bleed if I must. And never again will power live in shadows."

There were no cheers.

Only silence.

Then Kael stepped forward.

He unsheathed his sword—not to fight, but to kneel. The blade laid at her feet.

"I follow the Alpha Moon," he said.

One by one, they followed. Asher. Brin. Rae. Nyla. Then dozens. Then hundreds. Until the entire hall knelt before her.

Luna closed her eyes.

The Moon, full overhead, broke through the clouds.

Its light landed on her shoulders.

And in that moment, she was more than Luna. More than wolf.

She was legend.

But peace would not come easily.

In the days after the Vale, the Council fragments still hiding across the realm began to stir. Old rivals whispered of weakness. Of prophecy unfulfilled. Of power unearned.

Luna responded not with force, but with presence.

She met with the scattered packs—sat with their Alphas, listened to their grievances, offered truth over intimidation. Some submitted. Others tested her.

To each, she showed them not what she had become, but what they could become beside her.

It wasn't conquest.

It was union.

Kael acted as her right hand, advising where diplomacy failed and leading silent raids on rogue cells that still worshipped the Shadow.

Asher, now no longer bound by guilt, rejoined the warrior ranks. But he didn't take command. He taught. Trained. Shared everything he had learned in captivity and beyond.

Brin was appointed Head Healer, transforming Silvercrest's old infirmary into a sanctuary of light and recovery.

Nyla, ever the fire-bringer, rebuilt the fallen guard forces, integrating warriors from all allied packs.

And Rae vanished into the woods, only to return weeks later with maps, treaties, and three forgotten tribes behind him.

Silvercrest was no longer a single pack.

It was becoming a nation.

One night, under a blood moon, Solana appeared in Luna's dreams.

"You've stepped beyond prophecy," the old Moonblood said.

"I've stepped into choice," Luna replied.

"Are you ready for what comes next?"

"No," Luna admitted. "But I will be."

Solana smiled. "Then let me give you one last gift."

She placed her hand over Luna's heart.

When Luna woke, a new mark shimmered on her chest—an eclipse symbol wrapped in moonlight. Not just Alpha. Not just Moonblood.

Alpha Moon.

A title no one had carried since the First Age.

The next council convening was called across all territories.

Wolves, witches, even old enemies arrived.

They expected a coronation.

They got a revelation.

Luna stood before them in simple white.

"The war is not over," she said. "Because war never ends. It only changes shape."

She looked across the crowd.

"But unity—true unity—is forged in truth. I am not your savior. I am not your Queen. I am your mirror. Your storm. Your promise kept."

A murmur moved through the crowd.

She raised her hands.

"I am the Alpha Moon. And I rise not to rule, but to rise with you."

The hall erupted—not with cheer, but with howls.

Thousands of wolves, across every bloodline, lifted their voices.

For the first time in a thousand years, the Realm howled as one.

That night, Luna walked alone to the cliff beyond the Hall.

Asher found her there.

He didn't speak.

Just stood beside her.

She turned to him. "Do you still love me?"

"Yes," he said, without hesitation.

"But do I love you?"

He looked down, eyes soft. "I don't know. But I hope you'll find out."

She stepped closer. "I remember pain with you. And peace. And fire."

"Then let's build something from it."

She smiled. "Not yet. But stay close."

"I always do."

He leaned down.

She let him.

And the kiss was quiet. Not a promise.

But a beginning.
