Chapter 14 - 14

Name: Healing Card

Category: Item Card

Rank: E

Effect: Instantly replenishes an E-rank ability user's energy to its maximum.

Consumption: One-time consumable

Note: If the user is a D-rank ability user, this card will at most replenish 9 units of an E-rank ability user's energy.

The Healing Card's image was a small red potion bottle, which easily led one to define it as an instant health potion in a game.

With this, he could finally get rid of the annoyance of losing combat points after every fight.

It was too much of a trap; his current combat skills, aside from passive ones, were all for self-preservation. His rare offensive skills included the incredibly underhanded Thousand Years of Death and the Eight Inner Gates Formation, which harmed the user almost as much as the enemy.

With this in mind, Zhang Lan repeatedly clicked to purchase Healing Card (E).

"Ding, 10 energy points deducted, one Healing Card (E) obtained."

"Ding, 20 energy points deducted, one Healing Card (E) obtained."

"Ding, 40 energy points deducted, one Healing Card (E) obtained."

He clicked six times in a frenzy before stopping.

The next click would cost 640 energy points, which could buy a C-rank Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, so it wasn't worth it.

After exchanging for the Healing Card (E), Zhang Lan clicked on "Combat Suit Card (D)."

"Ding, 50 energy points deducted, one Combat Suit Card (D) obtained."

Name: Combat Suit Card (D)

Category: Equipment Card

Rank: D

Effect: Instantly equips pre-set gear within the card.

Note: This card is a unique possession card. Each upgrade will randomly generate multiple attributes, from which the host can choose one.

That sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

He took out the Combat Suit Card, which had an image of an empty palace. Zhang Lan placed the card on his forehead and immediately felt as if he had entered the palace depicted on the card.

It looked like an empty palace on the card, but upon entering the card, it was—still empty.

"System, how do I use this thing?" he shouted into the empty air.

"..." No response.

"System? Did you shut down again? At least give me a set of clothes, pajamas would be fine."

That's right, he was completely naked at the moment.

There was still no response, but a set of pajamas suddenly appeared on him, as if he had been wearing them all along.

"Interesting, so it's a dress-up game? How about a skirt?"

His thoughts became reality, and Zhang Lan immediately put on a pink princess dress. The image was too beautiful; he had only been joking and hadn't expected it to actually work, so he immediately changed back into his pajamas.

Afterward, Zhang Lan, having found the trick, began a real-life dress-up game, from ancient armor to modern casual shirts, Hanfu, Tangfu, battle skirts, and chainmail, enjoying himself immensely.

Once the novelty wore off, Zhang Lan seriously considered what clothes to wear for future battles.

He scrolled through superhero costumes he had seen in movies in his mind: Superman's red underwear worn on the outside, Green Lantern's glowing animation, Captain America's flag-themed bodysuit, Thor's handsome cape...

Finally, after many experiments, Zhang Lan made his choice.

—Seiya's Odin God Cloth.

Paired with a sky-blue cape, it was perfect.

He had seen this in his previous life while translating Japanese anime. Zhang Lan, who had always thought that Saint Cloths only came in gold, immediately fell in love with this unique blue Saint Cloth—the Odin God Cloth.

Unfortunately, the card didn't provide weapons; otherwise, if he could also conjure that sword, it would be even cooler.

Currently, this was just a set of clothes that resembled the Odin God Cloth; it wouldn't grant Zhang Lan any additional special abilities, and even its defensive power was only of ordinary strength.

"System, I've decided," Zhang Lan said.

As his words fell, he felt a flash before his eyes and returned to his previous posture, hand on his forehead.

"Beep, Combat Suit Card (D) model confirmed, generating... generated."

"Beep, E-rank attribute generating... E-rank attribute generated, please choose one, Host."

"Beep, D-rank attribute generating... D-rank attribute generated, please choose one, Host."

E-rank Attributes—

—Change Size

—Defense Boost

—Metal Devour

—Mental Protection

D-rank Attributes—

—Stamina Recovery

—Self-Repair

—Metal Evolution

—Attack Boost

Looking at the generated attributes, he couldn't see their descriptions and could only guess based on their names. After much thought, he finally chose the E-rank attribute: Metal Devour, and the D-rank attribute: Self-Repair.

Metal Devour: Can devour metal of the same rank as the card, consuming energy points to replace the original structure.

Self-Repair: Damaged equipment, once returned to the card, will be repaired by consuming energy points, depending on the extent of the damage.

"Beep, special effects generated. Combat Suit Card (D) has been issued to storage space."

He took out the Combat Suit Card from his storage space. The original blank palace image was still there, but now Zhang Lan stood heroically in the center, clad in the blue Odin God Cloth, with a sky-blue cape fluttering behind him. He looked incredibly cool, like he had no friends.

Impatiently, he placed the Combat Suit Card on his forehead.

The card glowed faintly, then transformed into several streaks of blue phantom light that flew out from the card, circled Zhang Lan once, and then, like a Saint Cloth in a comic, automatically donned onto his body with a series of "crackle, crackle" sounds.

"Cool!"

He couldn't help but exclaim, then hurriedly ran to his room, where there was a full-length mirror.

Looking at his perfect figure in the full-length mirror, Zhang Lan's vanity was greatly satisfied. He took out his phone and snapped pictures non-stop.

"It looks good, but unfortunately, it doesn't give me any abilities right now. My combat power hasn't increased at all," Zhang Lan sighed, putting away the Combat Suit Card.

After giving the command to retract, the Odin God Cloth on his body transformed into flowing blue light, gathering towards Zhang Lan's forehead, and once again became the Combat Suit Card.

"System, can I rename the card? 'Combat Suit Card' sounds awful."

Zhang Lan felt that shouting "Odin God Cloth" and shouting "Combat Suit Card" during a transformation were completely different things.

"Beep, after paying 1 energy point, you can rename the card."

"What the heck, you're such a miser?" Zhang Lan exaggeratedly said, "Then change 'Combat Suit Card' to 'Odin God Cloth'."

"Beep, executing command... 1 energy point deducted successfully. 'Combat Suit Card (D)' has been changed to 'Odin God Cloth (D)'."

Zhang Lan contentedly held the Odin God Cloth card, his vanity greatly satisfied. Humming a little tune, he slowly walked towards Peter's room.

Pushing the door open and entering the room, he saw Peter practicing hand seals, with his Shadow Clone earnestly guiding him.

"How's it going, Peter? It's not that easy to cultivate, is it?" Zhang Lan asked triumphantly.

Hearing Zhang Lan's words, Peter, who had been somewhat smug, pouted and said nothing, silently practicing his hand seals and feeling the connection between chakra and the seals.

Seeing this, Zhang Lan didn't disturb him, sitting aside and falling into thought.

Now he had a rough understanding of the system's function, and his current tasks were roughly three.

First, of course, was the latter half of the main quest: The First Battle, to catch that hateful guy.

Second, he needed to find a way to get some rule fragments, even if they were E, D, C, B, or A-rank; he wasn't hoping for S-rank yet.

Third, he could start promoting a few novels and scripts he had treasured. Although ordinary people only yielded 100 energy points even with faith, the sheer volume of people made up for it.

Zhang Lan pulled out a pen and paper from the table, drew a horizontal line, marked the time, and then, following the items, marked their priority one by one. After writing and drawing for about half an hour, he finally stopped.

Closing his eyes, Zhang Lan carefully recalled everything, ensuring he remembered the contents of the paper, then used a lighter to burn the paper.

He also wanted to stylishly burn the paper with ninjutsu or something, but unfortunately, Zhang Lan currently didn't know any offensive ninjutsu.

"Alright, Peter, stop for a moment," Zhang Lan called out to Peter.

"I feel like I'm about to learn it," Peter said regretfully, "You interrupted me like this, I don't care, you owe me."

Zhang Lan's mouth twitched unnaturally. When did Spider-Man become so unreasonable?

But he didn't consider that in the original movies, Spider-Man didn't have a brother, so he naturally wouldn't have this kind of childish conversation with an elder.

"Alright, stop messing around, let's get serious," Zhang Lan waved his hand in annoyance, cutting off Peter's impending lengthy argument.

After dismissing his Shadow Clone, Zhang Lan created another Shadow Clone. This was a quick way to assign tasks; the Shadow Clone appeared and immediately jumped out the window. He had many things to do and needed to save time.

"Hey, Lan, where's he going?" Peter asked curiously.

"To get something for you," Zhang Lan said cryptically, "Peter, don't you think your attack methods are too singular? Have you considered using any weapons?"

"Ah, yeah, I thought so too. But I still don't know what weapon to use, and I haven't really thought of anything yet."

Peter scratched his head in annoyance.

"Hmm? You mutated after being bitten by a spider. What weapons do you think spiders use?" Zhang Lan guided Peter to think.

He couldn't directly tell Peter, oh, this is what you should do, just do it like this. That would make Peter dependent on him, which, while beneficial to Zhang Lan, wasn't what he wanted.

"Venom? No, no, I don't want to bite people." Peter tentatively uttered a word, then immediately dismissed it himself.

"Then, it's spider silk, right? Ah, yes, Lan, spider silk! I finally know what I'm missing!" Peter's reaction was quite quick; he immediately thought of spider silk.

Excited, Peter, barefoot, bounced from the bed to the ceiling, crawled from the ceiling to the computer desk, and quickly searched for information, completely ignoring Zhang Lan's presence.

"Peter. Actually, you're still missing... never mind, I'll take care of this for you."

Zhang Lan had originally intended to hint at the Spider-Man suit, but seeing Peter so excited, he gave up the idea of letting Peter make the suit himself. He had a better idea.

Zhang Lan walked out of the room, took out his phone, and unaccustomed to the button phone in his hand, thought about how he now had another thing to exploit from Tony.

Raising an evil eyebrow, Zhang Lan dialed a number.
