Chapter 49 - A little tenderness

Adrian's POV:

I swallow, looking away from Elena. When she threw her head back, I felt the urge to close my hand around her neck and pull her to me.

But it's only an urge. And it needs to stay that way.

She clears her throat, jutting her chin out."I'm not backing out. I'm just...inexperienced.

I narrow my eyes on her, nodding my head slightly. The pain in my shoulder increases with each passing second, but I don't show it. At least not in front of her.

I was pissed she came down and saw me, but then she started ranting, going on and on about how I think I'm Merlin or something.

It was cute, dare I say. And something twisted in my chest at the knowledge of her actually caring. About me.

I don't even know when I started smiling, but now I can't keep a straight face anymore.

She looks to the side, scanning the box on the counter. It's packed with scalpels, forceps, bandages, antiseptic, and whatnot.

She looks back at me with frantic eyes, lips pursed.
