Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Evil Dragon (2)

It took a long time for the maiden to wake up. Her eyes weakly fluttered open. It was a blessing she was still alive. An unfamiliar icy ceiling welcomed her.

KYAAAH!!!

The dragon hopped in front of her noticing her. But it only earned her screams. She curled up after tripping after failing to escape. Tears brimmed up her eyes.

The dragon was left bamboozled by the human's reaction. It thought, 'Shouldn't she be happy to see me? ' , Forgetting how gigantic and scary it could be to an adult, not to compare a human child.

"Hey." The dragon opened its mouth first trying to appear haughty as well as comforting at the same time which only failed earning it only sobbing.

So, the dragon waited. It went behind the pillar until she calmed down. Maybe it shouldn't have been too zealous? It pondered.

2 hours passed.

The girl weakly sniffled, "Will you eat me?" Clutching tightly onto her dress.

EEEKK..

She yelped in surprise when the dragon peeked at her. Getting conscious, Eysr, the dragon talked from behind the pillar.

"No."

"Will you really not?" The girl's voice almost sounded like a pleading.

"Hmph." The dragon snorted, "I won't. Rest assured, human." Mustering some courage, she asked back, "Will you not eat me as a sacrifice?"

The dragon got a bit annoyed, "I'm herbivore!" It blinked several times after startling her with the statement. What the hell?

As for why it said that, it confused itself too, since just this morning, the dragon went to hunt a wild beast. It huffed, "Stop asking stupid questions and sit near me. It's cold everywhere."

"One-..One..more question.." she gulped in fear, "Are you..not the mountain deity?"

Ah, who? The dragon's red eyes zoned out.

She quickly closed her eyes shut anticipating another scolding. Then it tilted it's head to the sideways and spoke in a cool voice, "Who's that?"

The maiden was bewildered, "Do you— not know of the spirit residing the mountains that villagers worship?"

CRASH.

She was ultimately flushed against the dragon that brought her close wrapping her with its long scaly black tail. She gasped.

"Don't stay so far away. I won't help you twice if you pass out." It narrowed its eyes grumpily.

The heat of a monster's body was higher than a human's. For an instance, the girl felt like she was in a warm haven in this freezing cold. She couldn't help but lean into the warmth.

"What are you doing, human?" The girl got embarrassed hearing the voice, "Um.. about my question..." that she tried to divert the attention from her.

It ticked off the dragon even more than ever. Damn girl. It muttered beneath the breath.

"You are very persistent." It let out a cruel sneer, "I can't remember the last time anyone lived after showing me such feverish persistence."

Gulp.

"Ha...to answer your question, there's no 'damn' Spirit in the mountains. It's just me and wildlife." The dragon grumbled, wagging its tail impatiently on the ground, " If there had been any, I'd have eaten them alive or dead."

BHWAHAHA! He was the mighty dragon!

The dragon stopped at her worn-out blank face. To the surprise, she broke out in tears again!?

'Hey, stop!! What did I do now?!!' Thoughts raced in its head. For the first time in its life, the mighty dragon panicked,

"Hey, stop crying." It poked her a few times, " Human?— Lass? Lassie?" But got discouraged quickly. " Hey, where are your parents?"

Then it soon realised something.

" Wait, did you say a 'Sacrifice'?" The red eyes, full of mana and life force pulsated in a grim mood. The dragon was vexed out.

"Did you mean some ignorant humans cast you out as a lamb to some nonexistent mountain deity?! What is this?! A joke!?!"

ROAR.

The cave started trembling from the backlashes of the dragon's roar. Damn humans.
