Chapter 2 - 02-For 6 months…

"-ahh"

A room of pure concrete is what greeted the man who spokes sight as he regained consciousness once again, a common occurrence to him as in recent times of his life.

The room was sparse decorated only filled by a overbearing painting of a self important man, needlessly expensive desks along with their accompanying fancy chairs that too look way to overpriced to be placed inside what can only be described as a glorified cage.

In this desolate room intentionally made to be depressing stand a group of four men, each in a variety of states.

One stood at the back of the room before a row of desks, is clad in a regal style of clothing that was made in mind for wealthy individuals that want nothing more than to separate themselves from the lower class, obviously due to their arrogance and never ending ego.

The man looks like what a stereotypical corrupt nobility would look like. A long pointed nose, small thin snake like eyes, a shiny bald head and a lanky skinny build that appears like he hasn't had to lift a single item in his life.

Just from a glance, He is just standing there posing, seemingly trying to make himself look menacing and dignified… but failing miserably at the task. Only looking pompous and clearly fucking stupid.

Another man, this one in front was dressed up in an attire possible designed after a butcher, someone who works with raw meat on a daily basis. Clad in a thick pair of green overalls that cover every inch of his body from the neck down, a leather apron over it to protect the rest of his clothing from blood splatter.

Though in this scenario, and from the expression marring his face that blood doesn't seem to come from dead animals.

His face was deformed from years upon years of inbreeding in his wealthy family, causing varying disabilities on the man including but not limited to being mute.

His body language suggest that he were or at least appears to be holding himself back from his wicked thoughts and dark desires that flow freely through his twisted mind.

He is an ugly creature, barely looking human at all with how little neck he has as well as the bulging muscle and fat that make up most of his body.

The third man is dressed in blood red military clothing that In actuality looks quite intimidating, further accentuated by a clearly trained body. A gun was holstered on thr very centre of his chest, proudly bearing arms publicly for all to see and draw fear from anyone who is close enough to earns his ire.

This man in the span of 5 minutes spends his time shouting and getting in the face of the final forth man, a perpetual angry scowl and simultaneous look of disdain on his face, as if looking at a dirty rat on the street while spitting his condescending words at him.

Now onto the forth man. This one stripped down to nothing but what could generously be called underware but in reality was just a makeshift loin cloth. Chained to a chair smack in the middle of the room, glaring back deliriously at the mem stood In front of him with a cloudy look in his dim hazel eyes.

"This is your final chance, Corvo. Sign the confession and let me give you the rites to put your spirit at ease."

Aftee finishing his sentence, the man in red barely waits a second before giving a nod to the butcher as a signal. The butcher who picks up a red hot glowing piece of metal that from the looks of things appears to have been resting on a bed of flaming coals. He brings the metal pieces closer to to the man, waiting a single moment just to draw out more fear from the man, then placing it directly onto his neck, onto the neck of Corvo.

"ARGGGG!!!! Grrrrrrr -haaaah…."

Who clenched his teeth loudly to hear cracks, but successful hold back a scream of agony to express his pain, something that would only make the sick bastards feel pleasure.

The man in regal clothing, once know as the spy master of dunwall, now as the 'lord regent' after successfully taking control of the power vacuum left by the Empress' Jessamines death, walks out from his place at his desk to stand side by side to the man in red, Campbell.

"That's enough for now. Get out! Let's give the man some time to actually think." The lord regent waves his hand dismissively to the butcher, commanding him to leave at the drop of a hat.

The man obeys and quickly packs up his equipment and leave the room soon after.

"Corvo, the empress is dead, her daughter is hidden away and no one will ever know the truth." The lord regent speaks in his naselly voice that grinds uncomfortally on Corvos mind every time he hears it.

He stops soon after though, allowing Campbell next to him to speak up.

"Yeahss, unlucky you. Tomorrow you'll be executed, but it's for a good cause. This country needs strong leadership now, Someone to guide the weak and that's… that's where 'we' come in." As he continues to speak his scowl deepens even further, dispite the visual impossibly of it. Staring at corvo deeply with an undscribable hate in his eyes.

Officially this man can be identifyed as ThaddeusCampbell - the high overseer.

He always did hold unusual hatred towards corvo and perhaps that lead toward where they were standing right now.

Once again the lord regent is quick to speak back up, I mean of course, he sure loves the sound of his voice aftee all.

"There is nothing personal about this, even though you almost sank our plans. But it turned out well. You were in the wrong place at the right time, and…." He pauses dramaticly, leaning closer into corvos face, with a twisted smirk cracking his lips into a crocked smile "sombody had to take the fall."

He turns away with a pep in his step, leaving one last remark in a whistfull tune towards corvos chained form.

"Goodbye, Corvo."

And that is the last thing corvo hears before losing consciousness once again.

{Luke/Corvo POV}

Once again, I awaken from being knocked unconscious. A common accurance spanning the past six months.

This time I don't even bother sitting up, just starring at the ceiling of the cell I have been locked in is all I can make out.

I don't know if this is all some elaborate illusion conjured up by my head under the influence off psychedelic… but I've had enough, I feel as if I'm on the verge of losing my mind and just breaking into pieces.

*siggggghhhh*

6 months ago when the body I was sudden transported into was knocked unconscious after the death of the empress, I gained full m control of if after awakening.

This was proven useless quickly though as I didn't have any of corvos skill nor experience, so I couldn't even attempt escape nor did I have the courage to even try.

I mean can you even blame me? Back in the real world I have just barely became an adult so I don't have much life experience, even with it I'm someone from the twenty first century where death is so detested by the people that even killing someone in self defence will get you shunned. That in turn will make sure you don't get a job, without a job you can't have a house and can't live properly etc etc… I'm sure you know where I'm going with this long rabbit whole right?

Well anyway, besides my yapping ive never been particularly good at anything, so I never really tried. I just gave up on being anything exceptional. In short I'm basically a loser.

Said loser was thrown into this situation that could break even the most battle hardened men, only surviving by sheer dumb luck.

For the first two weeks it was 'light' you could say but it constant. Ripping off finger and toe nails, hanging me up like and pinata then treating me like one, isolating me comepletly from anyone so my only form of social interaction you could say, was with them.

After that it became less frequent. Though that was only because the torcher became so so much worse that continuing would have killed me… and they didn't want that. No they wanted to use then kill me off in front of a crowd just to show that they were in the right and me in the wrong.

They cut me, skinned me like an animal and brought me to the very brink of death every single time. Only then did they stop. Only managing to keep me alive with gallons Anton Sokolovs miracle potion.

Little side note is that unlike the game, it isn't instant healing. It is though, definitely accelerated and can bring you back from stuff a human couldn't heal or even stay alive from on their own….that was another round of torcher in and of itself. They knew that.

The feeling of your skin and muscle stitching itself back together is something I struggle to even put into words.

But it was only after going through a couple round of those that something weird started happening to me. My mind and Corvos started… how can you say it? Merging? Combineing but also not. After the first time it happened, my brain started turning itself off to subsume and absorb all foreign infomation stored in Corvos head.

But it was not only that hence why I used the term merged, I started gained some of Corvos personality traits.

His willpower was consumed and made my own.

His cunning and rescourefullness.

….his killer instinct.

All made mine, forging me into someone who could withstand this torcher for long periods, tempering my willpower.

But after the usefull memories to do with skills and traits usefull for my predicament, it felt like my sense of self that was left after being stripped away was being eroded by Corvo.

Not by a lingering will or something like that just the line between me and him started to become harder to see as something separate.

His personal life memories started to embedd themselves into my mind, feeling and emotions so easily blocked before now was free to run wild.

I need to escape.

I can't keep waiting on the off chance someone will give me the opportunity to escape just because that's what happened in the game.

I can't keep treating this like a game. It may or may not be real, but the pain is and I don't know what will happen if I die here.

{Narrators POV}

From the outside of Corvos cell, all that could be seen from the outside was his scared and dirty form laying on the stone bed unmoving, almost like a corpse.

If not for the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest the guards would have rushed in there despite their disdain of him to check it out.

Out of sight and view from any other guard, a man dressed in a uniform appears outside Corvos cell holding a tray with a piece of bread on it.

"You should eat, Corvo. This meal comes from a friend."

As he said this, he slid the tray inside his cell and walked away swiftly.

'.....'

Eventually Corvo actually starts moves and stare in disbelief at the tray, for what this could actually mean.

'All that courage, built up for nothing'

All he could do is sigh and laugh to find humour in the situation while going to pick up the note.

(Corvo,

Who we are is irrelevant right now. Just know that we have faith in you.

Here is the key to your cell.

Once you're out, head for the prison's Interrogation Room.

Take the explosive there and plant it on the outer door.

When the bomb goes off, run.

Make for the river and lose yourself in the sewers.

You'll find some useful gear stashed there.

One of the prison guards will leave a weapon just outside your cell.

And good luck.

We need you alive and well for what's to come.

- A friend)

'A friend, ha. Yeah right. I know I should stop faithfully relying on meta knowledge but I know for for what people like them are like.'

Their flowery words fall on blind eyes but he knows that they are of use, being exactly what he needs right now.

That being: a hide out to recover, equipment from their skilled inventor peierro or whatever his name is as well resources they have e.g. there bone charms and runes for when he gets his mark.

To get the opportunity to get his revenge and to get Emily back.
