Chapter 3 - Reincarnation 3

Xiao Rui and Bae Sisi were drawn by Xiao Lula's laughter and turned to look at her.

If they hadn't heard correctly, the rain must have been caused by her, right?

*It seems the Heavenly God is still quite kind to me. He gave me strength when I was reborn.*

*Okay, I won't curse him anymore today.*

Xiao Lula looked up, saw the large hole in the roof, and began to complain again in her heart.

*Ah, wrong move. I should have waited for that evil woman to come out before flooding it. Now the roof is broken, what should I do?*

*Never mind, it's just a small roof. The Lanyue Dynasty hasn't fallen yet, Dad should be able to take care of it, right?*

After finishing her internal grumbling, Xiao Lula fell asleep peacefully.

Meanwhile, Xiao Wei heard news that Li Mei had broken into Xixi Palace to cause trouble. He immediately rushed there.

Unexpectedly, upon arriving at the palace, he heard a few words from Xiao Lula.

When he looked up and saw the large hole in the roof, he was speechless.

Okay, there's no need to ask any more questions; this is clearly the work of his extraordinary little princess.

"Xixi Palace is damaged, and you've just given birth. Don't be alarmed; rest well. Take the Ninth Princess to the Cambodian Palace for a while," Xiao Wei said gently, looking at Bae Sisi.

Bae Sisi hadn't expected such good fortune to emerge from such a disaster. She was even moved to the palace closest to the Emperor.

"Thank you for Your Majesty's generosity," she said gratefully.

"Okay, your body is weak, so there's no need for greetings. Before the Ninth Princess is a month old, you don't need to salute me every time you see me," Xiao Wei said again.

After a glance at the soundly sleeping Xiao Lula, he turned and left.

The Emperor's trusted eunuch, Gao Yao, who had been tasked with helping move the palace, smiled broadly.

He knew this Bae Sisi would soon rise to prominence.

"The palanquin is waiting outside, Concubine Bae. Please take the Ninth Princess to the Cambodian Palace to rest. We will handle such a small matter," she said politely.

"Thank you, Master Eunuch. Please have some tea," Bae Sisi said, glancing at her principal servant. The servant immediately took out a small bag of gold and handed it to Gao Yao.

Gao Yao smiled broadly and accepted the gift calmly, explaining that it was her duty.

Xiao Rui, standing to the side, still looked confused, still reeling from the previous incident.

"Third Prince, you must return to the Rose Palace to see the Grand Concubine," Bae Sisi said in a soft but firm voice.

Hearing this, her heart ached. She couldn't bear to ask him to leave, but otherwise, people would think Xiao Rui was unfilial.

"Tomorrow, may I come see Ninth Sister?" Xiao Rui asked, her eyes sparkling.

"Of course," Bae Sisi replied with a smile.

"Very well, we have a deal!" Xiao Rui said happily before leaving.

Watching her son's retreating back, tears welled in Bae Sisi's eyes.

"Concubine, don't be sad. You still have Little Princess. One day, the Third Prince will surely understand your sacrifice," Yuya said, trying to console her.

"You're right," Bae Sisi said, wiping away her tears, then carrying Xiao Lula and climbing into a palanquin toward the Kamboja Palace.

Meanwhile, Li Mei, soaked from the rain all the way back to her palace, quickly took a warm bath and changed her clothes, but she still sneezed repeatedly.

"Achoo! Achoo!"

"That Bae Sisi is truly a bad luck! If it weren't for me going to her place, how could I have suffered such misfortune!" she grumbled angrily.

"No way! I must find the Emperor and have him bring justice for me!" she exclaimed again, standing up.

However, her servant quickly stopped her.

"Your Majesty, the Emperor has already gone to Xixi Palace," she said cautiously.

"How? Did His Majesty punish her severely?" Li Mei asked, her eyes gleaming with hope.

Caocao swallowed hard before replying softly, "No, His Majesty actually ordered that Concubine Bae be moved to the Cambodian Palace because Xixi Palace was deemed unfit for habitation."

Hearing that, Li Mei felt as if struck by lightning in broad daylight.

"Impossible! You must have heard wrong!" she shouted, gripping Caocao's hand tightly.

She was clearly the one suffering, but Bae Sisi was the one benefiting?

Caocao knelt down in fear. "I speak the truth, please forgive me, Grand Concubine."

Li Mei released her hand and sat limply on the chair, her eyes staring blankly at the floor.

A few moments later, she shouted angrily, "Where is Xiao Rui? I am her adoptive mother! I was caught in the rain and cold, but she didn't even come to visit me!"

"Ahoo!" he sneezed loudly again.

The servants simply lowered their heads, not daring to speak.

"It's true he's a descendant of Bae Sisi," he said angrily. "He's completely uneducated! Tomorrow I'll report to the Emperor that he's an ingrate! He can't even compare to Xiao Yan!"

Xiao Rui overheard these words, who had just arrived at the front of the palace, carrying a bowl of hot ginger soup.

He was stunned, his body frozen in place.

What did those words mean? "A descendant of Bae Sisi"?

Did that mean… he wasn't the Grand Consort's biological son?

No, it couldn't be. The Grand Consort treated him so well, even better than the Second Prince.

But… why did those words feel so real?

"Prang!"

The soup bowl in his hand fell and shattered on the floor.

The palace maid immediately ran over.

"Third Prince! Are you alright?" Lulu asked anxiously.

"I'm fine. Mother Concubine is angry, I won't go in," Xiao Rui said softly before turning to leave.

Lulu looked at her back pityingly, then went inside to report.

"The Third Prince came to bring ginger soup, but he accidentally spilled it," she explained.

"Hmph! I'm sure he spilled it on purpose! He didn't want me to drink it!" Li Mei replied angrily.

"Summon the Second Prince here! I don't want to see that ungrateful son again!"

Lulu lowered her head. "Yes, Concubine." She didn't dare disobey, even though she felt sorry for Xiao Rui.

Meanwhile, Xiao Rui ran out of Lavender Palace, heartbroken.

The Grand Consort's words kept ringing in her ears: "Bae Sisi's descendant," "ungrateful son," "can't compare to Xiao Yan."

Each word cut like a knife.

Tears welled up in her eyes without her realizing it.

Until finally, she arrived in front of Kamboja Palace.

Bae Sisi… is that Concubine Bae's real name?

Is she really my biological mother?

Xiao Rui stared at the magnificent palace before him. For the first time in his life, he felt fear.

He finally understood what Ninth Sister had said earlier.

It turned out… she really was as stupid as a pig. She couldn't even recognize her own mother.

"Third Prince, why did you come here?" asked Ranran, who had just come out and directed the servants who were moving things.

"I want to see…" Xiao Rui hesitated, then swallowed back the word "Concubine" and continued, "I want to see Ninth Sister."

"Of course, please come with me," Ranran said with a warm smile, then led him into the palace.

If these siblings could develop a good relationship, Concubine Bae would surely be very happy.
