Hans's comms buzzed in the middle of reading through the Vanguard MBT's system info.
"Big Rhino, ready and waiting, Commander!"
The voice carried enough enthusiasm to fill the parking lot even through the radio.
Another loud one, Hans thought. "Good to hear from you, Big Rhino. Stay put while I finish checking the panel."
"The armor's all yours to see, Commander."
The line went quiet again, leaving only the Vanguard's engine and the smell of oil, dust, and hot metal.
Hans finished the last lines of the panel and frowned at one thing the display had not emphasized.
"System... I thought Crescent Federation tanks were supposed to be fast?"
In the game, the faction had lived on mobility: quick armor, aircraft, and hit-and-run attacks that punished anyone too slow to react.
It had also depended heavily on a player's hands. Reality was not going to work exactly the same way.
