Chapter 36 - Chapter 34

The Raikage's chakra surged to its peak, lightning spilling from his body like a storm of living vines, shredding the air and pulverizing anything they brushed against.

Boruto stayed calm.

He could tell this still wasn't the Raikage's true full strength. Darui still hadn't used his Storm Release or that unique black lightning of his.

As the Raikage rushed in with a fierce charge, Boruto reacted in a flash, throwing over a dozen special kunai in different directions. The next second, the Raikage's fist was already there. Fine threads of lightning crawled over Boruto's skin—

—but the Flying Thunder God was an instantaneous escape.

The fist missed.

The instant Boruto reappeared, another punch was already on top of him. The Raikage's follow-up speed was like a living flash.

The shockwave from the punch slammed into Boruto's back. He hadn't expected the Raikage to lock onto, or predict, his position so quickly.

But Boruto slipped free a step faster, shouting:

"Flying Thunder God — Second Stage!"

He landed again, this time keeping a deliberate distance. No more pure evasion. He drew in a breath, then poured out the majority of his chakra at once.

A dazzling orange-red lightning erupted around him. It shone like a second sun, crackling with thunder's raw voice, a destructive force of nature compressed into a human frame—swift, absolute, annihilating.

Yang Lightning Chakra Mode.

Cloaked in blazing orange-red, Boruto's speed immediately surpassed the Raikage's. After phasing past the punch aimed at his back, he moved like a streak of light, catching up to Darui in an instant and slamming an orange-red sphere of lightning against his back.

The Raikage felt him.

He was surprised the kid's speed had actually surpassed his own, but he still couldn't help but say, almost instinctively:

"Lightning at the same level shouldn't work on me when I'm in Lightning Release Chakra Mode, right—"

The sentence was cut off.

What followed wasn't the outcome he imagined at all. His words drowned in a roar of pain and shock.

"AAAH!!"

He gritted his teeth, forcing his chakra to try to expel the strange 'Yang Lightning' invading his body.

But this lightning clung to him like a curse, sinking into his flesh, refusing to be driven out. It danced through muscle and bone, seeping into every inch of him, crawling along his nerves and organs, burning as it went.

Seconds later, the Raikage's body was already injured from the inside. Internal tissue scorched, cells dying. It was a level of lightning he had never even conceived of.

When he finally got his breathing back under control, he couldn't stop himself from laughing low and cursing.

"You little… brat…"

He forced himself to stay alert. Just as he gathered himself to unleash an even more terrifying jutsu, he heard Boruto's voice.

It came from behind him.

For a Raikage known for his speed, that alone was humiliating.

Boruto dragged a massive orange-red orb of lightning behind him with one hand. Heat rolled off it in waves, the temperature easily rivaling magma. Every instinct in Darui's body screamed that if that thing hit, even Lightning Release Chakra Mode wouldn't save him.

Realizing this, the Raikage fell silent. He slowly let go of his Lightning Release Chakra Mode, the crackling aura fading away. Turning, he faced Boruto with a wry smile.

"What kind of nature transformation is that? Even my lightning can't stand up to it?"

Boruto let his chakra disperse as well. The seething lightning sphere vanished from his palm, and the Raikage visibly relaxed.

"Yang Lightning is a form of lightning found in nature," Boruto explained. "It's extremely powerful. The records say it can turn silver into liquid and steel into water. Its temperature far surpasses magma, and its explosive force is just as extreme."

"It still has all the usual properties of lightning—paralysis, binding, burning, destruction—just… pushed much further."

The Raikage stared at him, genuinely shaken.

He came from a village built on Lightning Release, surrounded by masters of the element from birth, and yet his finest lightning techniques had been overwhelmed by a nature transformation created by a twelve-year-old.

Internally, Boruto thought:

From that look, yeah…You didn't really get it.

Not surprising. This theory came from an old scroll I read—knowledge from a different age entirely.

The fight was decided.

Even the Raikage knew that if they continued, he couldn't guarantee victory. And he also understood very clearly that Boruto had stopped here for his sake, for the dignity of a Kage.

"I was out of line just now, Lord Raikage. I apologize," Boruto said, bowing deeply.

Darui didn't dwell on the disrespect. What interested him more now was the possibility of learning the principles behind this Yang Lightning nature.

The other four Kage approached. The Tsuchikage and Mizukage, still stunned by what they'd seen, watched Boruto bow to them as well, looking completely different from the arrogant brat who had provoked them earlier.

From that battle alone, it was obvious—the Raikage had lost.

To overwhelm the Raikage's Lightning Release using lightning alone… this kid's strength had already reached Kage level.

"I think everyone understands Boruto's capabilities now," Naruto said as he walked forward. "That should make this discussion easier."

"Then let's hear it," Gaara said. "What is the true topic of this Five Kage Summit?"

"Of course," Boruto replied. "Let's return to the council chamber and talk in detail."

He formed a seal, activating the same space–time barrier from before, and in an instant, teleported them all back in a wide-radius jump.

"He can still use such a large-scale Flying Thunder God barrier after that?" Kurotsuchi managed, her worldview collapsing for the second time that day.

By now, the Kage had more or less guessed Naruto's real intention: he wasn't just bringing Boruto into the public eye…

He was introducing the future Eighth Hokage of Konohagakure to the shinobi world.

"Back to the main point," Boruto said. "The ninja world is about to face an unimaginable enemy."

Shikamaru added, "Think about Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Her strength already exceeded the entire shinobi world's—yet she still created a White Zetsu army. Why?"

He looked around at the table.

"Because she wasn't the only one out there. Sasuke has been investigating Kaguya's ruins for more than ten years. We're not just being paranoid—we've actually confirmed things."

The Mizukage frowned. "Speaking of Sasuke… why isn't he present at this meeting?"

The air turned heavy. Naruto's gaze dimmed at once.

"What happened?" someone asked. The Kage could sense it—something had already gone very wrong.

"That's why I said earlier, the enemy's strength is no weaker than yours," Boruto answered.

"Yeah," Naruto said quietly. "Sasuke and I already fought them. Sasuke is still recovering in Konoha Hospital."

At that, the Kage finally connected it with Boruto's earlier claim—that Konoha had already faced two attacks.

For the first time, all five Kage straightened their backs completely. They could no longer dismiss any of this as exaggeration.

"Are they really enemies on the same level as… Kaguya Ōtsutsuki?" Kurotsuchi's voice shook slightly.

All of them had participated in the Fourth Great Ninja War, back when they were still up-and-coming shinobi. If Naruto hadn't shared Kurama's chakra, the Allied Forces would have been wiped out long before the final battle.

"Maybe yes, maybe no," Naruto said. "They didn't show obvious Six Paths abilities. But Sasuke and I still lost."

"The enemy we're facing is an organization called 'Moon'. So far, three members have appeared. First: the leader, who can construct the Four Red Yang Formation and move between dimensions."

"Second: a cloaked man who uses Wood Release on par with the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju."

"He can use things like True Several Thousand Hands and Top Transformed Buddha," Boruto added.

"Ridiculous…" someone breathed.

"Relax," Naruto continued. "Sasuke took that one down."

That news clearly eased the room. At least it wasn't an enemy on Kaguya's level still roaming free.

"But… that's where the good news ends," Naruto said, letting out a bitter breath. "The last member we've seen is a man in white robes and a mask. His distinguishing feature—Mangekyō Sharingan."

A few of the Kage visibly relaxed again at the word.

Mangekyō had once been terrifying, but compared to Eternal Mangekyō and Rinnegan, it sounded… manageable.

Naruto's next sentence crushed that fragile relief.

"That white-robed man nearly killed Sasuke by himself. If Boruto hadn't thought quickly at the end, the three of us would've died there."

They had escaped only thanks to Boruto's Flying Thunder God. Naruto's expression darkened.

"A Mangekyō Sharingan that even a tomoe Rinnegan can't overcome…?" the Raikage finally spoke.

"Yeah. But to be fair, Sasuke and I lost because we didn't understand his eye techniques. At first, st he used something like a projection ability far beyond Kamui—then he started modifying damage values. On top of that, he could fly with his ocular power."

"Huh…?" the Kage frowned. "And that's still just a Mangekyō?"

"For now, that's all we can confirm," Naruto said. "He wasn't even fighting us at full strength."

"That's why the real purpose of this Five Kage Summit is to warn you all: a new crisis is already spreading through the shinobi world. And we need to prepare—specifically for this enemy."
