CHAPTER 45 – Gu Yanzhou's Counterattack
Gu Yanzhou slowly, deliberately wiped the tears from her face with shaking hands.
The fear in his eyes was replaced by a cold, absolute, lethal resolve.
He stood, his figure casting a long, commanding shadow over the bed.
He looked directly into the camera lens of his laptop—addressing the hacker, Zhou Meilin, and the omniscient forces of the narrative itself.
"You think the world will correct itself if I die?" he challenged, his voice dangerously low.
He stepped closer to the laptop, his expression unyielding.
"Then I'll break the world first."
The hacker paused, the typing momentarily ceasing.
Gu typed a single, unprecedented, unauthorized command into the terminal.
The code bypassed every protocol of the corporation and, somehow, seemed to touch the System itself.
Xiao Xi's eyes widened in horror and awe. "No—Yanzhou, what are you doing?!"
His code began a brutal, massive SEVERING of the hacker's access points. Firewall after firewall rose from his corporate resources, but these were firewalls built with the knowledge of the System's vulnerabilities.
Server connections collapsed with deafening digital noise.
The vast network pathways the hacker used to enforce the plot instantly shrank to a tiny, contained thread.
The hacker typed frantically on Gu's screen:
STOP.
YOU'LL DESTABILIZE THE WORLD.
YOU ARE BREAKING THE FABRIC OF REALITY!
Gu Yanzhou's voice was pure ice, uncompromising and final.
"Good."
He typed the final, ultimate command:
ACCESS LOCKOUT.
OWNER PRIVILEGES: GU YANZHOU. SYSTEM OVERRIDE LEVEL: WORLD-ROOT.
INITIATE MERGE: PRIMARY VARIABLE TO HOST CORE.
The hacker's frantic typing froze mid-word. The hospital room lights flickered violently.
Xiao Xi gasped, her internal System screaming in chaotic realization.
[New Root Access Detected.]
[Host linked directly to… Gu Yanzhou.]
[System control parameters redefined. Host survival guaranteed by Primary Variable.]
Gu stepped back to Xiao Xi's bedside, cupping her face with both hands, his eyes blazing with protective devotion.
"If the world wants me dead to save its story," he whispered, his vow absolute, "then the world can fight me for you."
The lights flickered again—the reality around them shook with a soundless, terrifying resonance—and somewhere in the digital void, the hacker screamed in absolute, defeated rage as their power was usurped.
Xiao Xi pressed her forehead to his, tears of shock and profound love falling freely.
"You're going to break the story…"
Gu Yanzhou held her closer, their fates now permanently intertwined in the broken narrative.
"Then let it break."
