CHAPTER 113 – The Root Protagonist's Revelation

Just as Gu Yanzhou was pulled free of the ground, the Root Protagonist flashed into the air, moving faster than light itself, seizing Gu by the chest with two glowing, steady hands.

His voice, amplified by his stabilizing power, thundered across the ravaged landscape:

"STOP STRUGGLING,

GU YANZHOU!

YOU ARE MAKING HER WEAK!"

Gu snarled, desperate and single-minded:

"LET ME GO—

SHE CAN'T SEAL HIM ALONE—

SHE NEEDS ME TO ANCHOR HER—"

"She can," the Root Protagonist said in a low, solemn voice, his grip like iron.

"But only if you don't get in the way of the Core's function."

Gu froze, the truth in the Root Protagonist's eyes stopping his struggle instantly.

"…What are you talking about—?"

The Root Protagonist looked him straight in the eyes—no coldness, no distance, only truth and gravity.

"Gu Yanzhou… you are not just bonded to her.

That is a simplified term."

Gu's eyes widened, recognizing the seriousness of the revelation.

"What are you talking about—?"

"You are becoming part of her Root Core. A living, stabilizing sub-system."

Xiao Xi, still wrestling with the vortex, felt her heart plummet, the realization a cold dread.

"No… NO—NO—Yanzhou, that's impossible! I wouldn't do that to you!"

The Root Protagonist shook his head, confirming the nightmare.

"When you willingly merged your soul with her chaos to stop your own deletion, you gave her a piece of your essence."

He looked directly at Xiao Xi, delivering the final, painful blow.

"And she took it.

Your Core integrated him instantly as a necessary anchor."

Xiao Xi staggered, her control shattering.

"I… I didn't mean to—I didn't know—I didn't want to sacrifice you for power—"

Gu whispered, staring at his hands, which now faintly shimmered with gold light, the fading static gone.

"…Does that mean… I'm becoming… like her?"

"Half-Root," the Root Protagonist confirmed, holding him steady against the invisible pull.

"Your soul is no longer mortal.

You are now the living anchor, Gu Yanzhou. The stability within the Chaos."

Gu stared in disbelief.

And then—

a heartbreaking, beautiful smile crossed his fading face, acceptance replacing fear.

"Then I'll stay with her.

I won't fight the bond."

Xiao Xi screamed, the sound of her true, raw grief finally breaking free:

"NO!! YOU ARE NOT BEING SACRIFICED FOR ME—

NOT AGAIN!!

I FORBID IT!"
