Chapter 124 - Chapter 126-127

CHAPTER 126 – Gu Yanzhou Steps Into the Rift

Light swallowed Gu Yanzhou whole, not warm or gentle, but fierce and destructive.

This was light that carved.

Light that stripped away breath, thought, and physical shape.

It was the raw, uncontrolled energy of a shattered dimension.

He gritted his teeth, forcing his dissolving form to hold together as reality bent around him like wet paper.

Gravity twisted sideways, pulling him in every direction at once.

Time slowed, stretching his painful heartbeat into agonizing echoes that boomed like thunder in a vast, empty cave.

The Root Protagonist shouted in futile warning from behind the rapidly collapsing barrier, his voice distorted by the rift's collapse:

"GU YANZHOU—STOP! THE RIFT WILL TEAR YOU APART! THERE IS NO PATH!"

Gu didn't turn back.

He didn't need to.

If Xiao Xi could walk into certain death for him—

then he could walk into the absolute unknown for her.

His sacrifice was his only purpose now.

The rift dragged him deeper into the conceptual tear.

His body dissolved at the edges, not cleanly, but like corrupted code, like pixels peeling away into static.

But his soul—

the fragment Xiao Xi had once carried in her Core, the golden anchor of his existence—glowed fiercely.

It pulled him forward, a desperate, homing signal seeking its origin.

He whispered into the deafening darkness, his voice raw with devotion:

"Xiao Xi… I'm coming.

I won't let you be alone."

And the rift closed behind him, slamming shut on the possibility of retreat

CHAPTER 127 – A Crack in the Void

You know the deal by now, after this I won't add this reminder again. The capital letter is the first root. Thank you and enjoy...

In the endless black void, Xiao Xi, a flickering silhouette of light, clenched her chest as a sudden, sharp shock tore through her fractured Core.

Her chaos threads sparked wildly, reacting to an external force that defied the laws of her sealed prison.

"What—?! What is happening?!"

The First Root stirred from its bondage, its colossal chains groaning against the binding light.

"SOMEONE IS TEARING THROUGH REALITY.

A SELF-DESTRUCTIVE SIGNAL."

Xiao Xi's pulse spiked, recognition a cold certainty.

"Who?! No one can do that!"

"YOU KNOW, LITTLE ROOT.

YOU FEEL THE ECHO OF THE CHAIN YOU BROKE."

Xiao Xi froze, the name a silent plea on her conceptual lips.

"…Yanzhou."

The void rippled violently in answer, as if echoing the fierce determination of his approach.

"No—no, he can't come here—he'll die, the residual energy will kill him—!"

The First Root laughed bitterly, the sound a mix of malice and morbid fascination.

"HE FOLLOWS YOU EVEN INTO DEATH.

YOUR SACRIFICE ONLY INSPIRED HIS OWN."

Xiao Xi shook her head violently, her transparent body convulsing.

"No! I broke the bond! I severed the anchor! He shouldn't be able to sense me! He's supposed to be free!"

"HE DOES NOT NEED A BOND, XIAO XI."

The First Root's voice slithered like triumphant smoke.

"HE NEEDS A PURPOSE.

AND THAT PURPOSE IS YOU."

Her heart shattered again, realizing the futility of her final act.

"Yanzhou… Why… Why are you doing this to yourself…?"

The First Root leaned forward, its immense, shadowy face close to hers.

"BECAUSE HE CHOSE YOU.

HE IS THE ONLY ENTITY WHOSE WILL OVERCOMES YOUR OWN."

The void trembled, groaning under the pressure of the external intrusion.

Cracks of raw, splitting white light appeared—splintering the blackness, growing rapidly.

But even the First Root recoiled, its voice tinged with genuine astonishment.

"…THIS SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.

NO NON-ROOT SHOULD POSSESS THIS WILL."

Xiao Xi stepped backward, fear for him replacing all fear for herself.

"What… what does that mean? How is he doing this?"

The First Root's voice lowered to a profound, momentous whisper.

"IT MEANS YOU ARE NO LONGER THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BREAK THIS PRISON.

HE HAS BECOME A TRUE ANOMALY."

The cracks widened, tearing open the fabric of their conceptual prison.

Xiao Xi's voice shook, filled with love and dread.

"Yanzhou… please don't come.

Please turn back…"

But the void ruptured anyway, the rift opening a painful, blinding hole in her absolute blackness
