Chapter 53 - Hammer Industries in Bant’s Sights

Norman had already begun preparing his move to buy back Oscorp.

That part didn't require Bant to worry. What Norman needed was simply the name "Primus Technology." As for everything else, he naturally had a professional team to handle it.

"Xiao Ban, you should buy some Oscorp stock too. Trust me, it's going to skyrocket!" Norman said confidently.

Bant was a little surprised.

He hadn't expected Norman to bring up buying Oscorp shares on his own initiative.

After all, Norman had nearly been kicked out of management because of the shareholding issue. Right now, the thing he should value most was control of the company.

Norman seemed to see what Bant was thinking and said, "You shouldn't be guarding yourself against family."

"Xiao Ban, if it weren't for you, maybe I would've lost my company forever," he said with emotion.

Hearing that, Bant didn't refuse.

Once Norman regained control of Oscorp, the stock price was bound to rise. Buying now meant Bant would profit no matter what, so why not?

After that, Norman left the time to Bant and Harry.

At home, Harry seemed much quieter. He didn't speak loudly.

"You're really amazing," Harry said.

"Jealous?" Bant asked with a grin.

Harry shook his head. "I don't even have the mood for jealousy anymore."

"How are you planning to develop Primus's business next?" Harry asked.

"Start with communication devices." Bant pulled out a phone.

He'd thrown it together right before coming to the Osborn mansion, basically at the level of Galvan kindergarten.

Even so, in terms of tech, it was still at least a decade ahead of phones currently on the market.

Bant didn't plan to invest too much into the phone industry.

He had a better card in hand.

Connors' Lizard Serum.

This was the product that could truly bring him massive profits, and even instantly elevate Primus Technology's status.

With the Lizard Serum, regrowing severed limbs would no longer be a dream.

Even for people with intact bodies, the serum could still have enormous effects.

Of course, the Lizard Serum still needed improvement. The most important thing was removing the side effects.

"And after that?" Harry asked.

He didn't believe Bant's ambition stopped here.

"Do you know about the Stark World Expo?" Bant asked.

Harry nodded.

That famous event had been held as early as the last century, but later got canceled.

Not long ago, Tony Stark announced he would revive the expo.

Bant knew that expo wouldn't be peaceful.

As Stark Industries' sworn enemy, at least in his own head, Justin Hammer had always hated Tony.

This time, he would bring Ivan Vanko with him to cause Tony trouble.

Bant wasn't interested in Tony's crisis at all.

But he was very interested in swallowing Hammer Industries whole.

Hammer Industries might look like a clown show, but it did have some real strength.

Only, not long after that, Hammer Industries would fall off a cliff.

Losers eat dust.

That was how business wars worked. The defeated existed only to become nutrients for the victor.

And Hammer Industries was close to Primus.

Bant's appetite was huge. He wanted to bite down on that old established company and swallow it in one gulp.

Of course, that also required real capability.

He didn't explain all of that to Harry. He couldn't, not clearly.

As Hammer Industries' CEO, Justin Hammer had no idea a hunter was already lurking nearby, waiting for the moment to strip him clean down to the bone.

Right now, he was only thinking about how to use the destruction of Stark Tower, the monster battle versus Iron Man incident, to make trouble for Tony Stark.

"I can accuse him." Hammer thought he'd come up with a brilliant plan.

"He's monopolizing the Iron Man armor, and it's a threat to national security. We can force him to disclose the armor technology!"

And clearly, someone thought the same way as he did, naively believing that pressure from the Senate and the law would make Tony Stark obedient.

None of that mattered to Bant.

At this moment, Connors had already moved out of the sewer and arrived at Primus.

Since he had nowhere to live for now, Bant had specifically set aside a small resting room inside Connors' office.

"It can't compare to Oscorp Tower, but it'll do for now, Dr. Connors," Bant said.

"Compared to the sewer, this is already a luxury single room," Connors said, with no complaints.

He wasn't picky about living conditions. What he wanted was to refine the serum as soon as possible, so he could become whole again.

Not a monster, but a human.

"Then let's begin."

Without hesitation, Bant transformed into Grey Matter.

In the animation, Grey Matter was one of the alien forms Ben liked least, but in Bant's hands, it was the form he used most often, with the highest frequency.

"Every time I see your transformation, I feel amazed," Connors said.

"Ever considered that your Lizard Serum works almost the same way as I do, except I've got a watch as a limiter?" Bant said.

Taking another species' genes, transforming into another species, then turning back once the effect faded.

The Lizard Serum was just that unreasonable.

Of course, becoming a "monster" might be the serum's defect, but it definitely wasn't the Little Broken Watch's defect.

Azmuth never built the watch as a weapon. He built it to break down barriers between species.

Taking abilities without transforming, that was Unitrix.

"Now we have Dongwu's Gene Variator as a reference. Maybe we can make a breakthrough quickly," Bant said.

He and Connors worked together, reverse-deriving the decay rate formula and rebuilding everything from the ground up.

"Do you know why Peter can inherit the spider's genes?" Bant asked.

"His father tampered with him," Bant said while calculating.

"Genetic compatibility."

From a scientific perspective, that was the most reasonable explanation.

If you insisted on looking at it from another angle, then it was animal totems.

"You mean Peter could gain superpowers without becoming a monster because those irradiated spiders were genetically compatible with Peter from the moment they were cultivated?" Connors said, starting to understand, but still puzzled.

"Then what about you?"

He remembered Bant had spider abilities too, and he already knew Bant wasn't related to Peter by blood.

"The watch," Bant said simply.

If the Little Broken Watch could even obtain the genes of Celestialsapiens made of pure energy, then things on the magic side were naturally included too.

"So if we want to invent a truly perfect serum that lets people gain lizard superpowers, we'd have to start genetic compatibility from newborn lizards? That would only work for a small number of people," Connors said with a troubled look.

What he wanted was to help more people.

But the expensive cost of genetic compatibility meant it could never be widely accessible.

"Unless the government is willing to include it in health insurance," Connors added.

"Save it. They'd sooner put foot massages under health insurance than cut off their own profits," Bant said with a cold laugh.

"Besides, Dr. Connors." Bant paused.

"Did you forget? We're inventing a serum medicine to treat disabilities, not developing a super soldier serum. Why do we have to make people gain superpowers?"
