Max's POV
I hauled myself over the rocky cliff edge, water streaming from my clothes and hair. My muscles burned from fighting the brutal current below, but the physical pain barely registered. The voices drifting from the campfire ahead had captured my attention completely.
Several drenched Alphas sat around the flames, their sodden shirts steaming as they warmed themselves. Their conversation made my blood run cold.
"Did you see what Swift pulled?" one of them muttered bitterly.
"The bastard just walked up with that pearl ring like he owned the place. Handed it to Mariyah without breaking a sweat."
"Then that Evan character swooped in and dragged her away. Acting like she belonged to him."
My steps faltered on the uneven ground.
Jasmin took Mariyah somewhere? Alone?
My jaw clenched as I stared into the flickering firelight. Something about this felt wrong. Jasmin had never shown any particular interest in Mariyah, not like the other wolves circling her constantly.
