With things set in motion, Marcus could finally take a breather. Or so he thought, as a mere two days later, there was a situation in South Pole's Research Facility.
Over the past five years, the Research Facility has grown to an enormous degree.
From studying the city ruins, to stones that react to specific sound frequencies. These stones were unique as they were not just carved. The cutting method was observed with Code assistance.
The visions carved into the pyramids were 'recharged'. With Geass Energy, and has been recorded with a Geass method.
In other words, a form of memory sharing was at work.
Now that he knows the Protheans are real in his universe, Marcus realised he is copying their information-sharing method, or something similar.
No, he will copy it. Meaning that he will create an information-sharing method: direct transfer of data into people's brains, spreading through the whole empire in a matter of seconds.
Memory Beacons will be a thing, but for now. He is not here for the city or ancient bacteria study. No, the portals were coming online any moment.
"Your Majesty, this is incredible!" One of the lead scientists gawked at what he was looking at.
The three pyramids were emitting pillars of blue light into the sky from their tips.
"Ancient technology in flesh…" Anna, next to him, was looking at this with wide eyes.
"My guess is that people are transformed into light upon entering the portals and sent through those pillars to a certain location." Lloyd, on the other side of the Emperor, said with a calculating look.
"Can our satellites track the course of the pillars?" Marcus asked people in the Command Centre.
"There is no pillar of light in space, Your Majesty. We can only see them here. I assume they return to the magnetic field?"
One of them said to the Emperor. He saw the data they gathered on the magnetic field.
"...Hmm…"
At that moment, Marcus activated his Geass. Over the years, his Geass grew to an absurd level, as the amount of energy he could access continued to increase, even after he became a Code Bearer.
One could say he reached a critical mass, became 'free-falling' in power. He can now freely control his body state and his Geass.
No longer limited by his state, he could gaze at things without worry of his brain exploding from too much information.
So he gazed at this phenomenon without hesitation and swiftly grasped what he saw after examining the history of this specific event.
"I see."
"What did you see?" Anna immediately asked, wanting to know. So did everyone in the room.
"How to control it." With that said, he turned around and rapidly left the Command Centre. Anna and Lloyd and his crew followed after him.
Everyone went outside. Marcus strolled to the main pyramid. He took the stairs to the top, where the energy was rushing toward the sky.
"The pyramid is using magnetic frequencies to locate similar Earths in parrel universes. These people knew that some planets are inhospitable, so they targeted parallel worlds instead of other planets.
These frequencies resonate with space time continuum and merge with a nearly identical world to create a safe passage.
The reason why it takes so long to charge is that the portal on the other side needs to form."
"Fascinating… your Geass is a game changer. I am jealous, I want something similar." Lloyd praised and complained at the same time.
"If not for my Code, I would be dead from information overload." Marcus rolled his eyes at him.
"My Code healed my brain as I was looking at this." He clarified what was going on.
"Marcus! Don't be reckless like that!" Anna exclaimed with a worried tone.
"Relax. I can't die from something like this." He motioned to his wife to take it easy. She gets worried far too easily...
"Now let's see." Marcus looked at the stone tablet before him. There was one before him at the highest pyramid.
"So what is this?"
"Star map." Marcus placed his hand on the star chart. At that moment, he saw images of multiple Earths!
His eyes snapped wide as he pulled back and looked at the stone table with disbelief.
"..."
The next moment, he took a deep breath.
"What happened?" The curious people looked at him.
"I saw the destinations." He explained, then placed his hand on the tablet and focused one more time.
He saw several… familiar Earths.
The most familiar and easy to discern are the ones with a huge ring of solar panels around them, and another with hourglass-style colonies in the space.
These two… any mech fan would know them.
'Gundam 00 and Gundam Seed… these two…'
He pulled back and looked at the tablet. At that moment, he made a decision. To fight reapers, he needs technology. Technology has never been seen before and is possibly more advanced and separate from what he is developing.
What comes to his mind is GN Drive tech, the GN particle, and, lastly, the living metal that appears in the movie The Trailblazer.
Living metal would enormously improve his Empire's building capabilities. While Gundam Seed Universe has Genetic Data that would help him advance in genetics…
Both worlds would improve his faction considerably.
"Well? How is it?" Anna asked. She was worried.
"Don't worry, I got this." He smiled as he placed his hand and focused on the Gundam 00 universe. At that moment the one of the portals reacted as it began to awaken. Half circles, moon crescent-shaped, manifested on the arches as the portal began to power up.
"It's working… the portal is reacting!" The scientists scrambled down from the pyramid and towards the portal.
They began inspecting the readings on their devices and trying to understand what they were seeing.
Marcus would be excited as well if not for the fact that he nearly fried his brain. He is now well aware of how this specific technology works.
In fact, he has ideas for integrating into his current tech.
The pair of Emperor and Empress followed the scientists as they walked down the stairs and looked at the glowing forming portal in the arch.
"I assume you know where this is going, Marcus?" Anna, holding his hand, asked him as she looked at the blue energy forming in the arch.
"Yes. The rest of you come with me, we have things to discuss and expeditions to prepare." The Emperor motioned for the scientists to come with him.
The group returned to the HUB building outside of the ancient city. The research facility was almost the same size as the ancient city, with many different branches of research complexes. It's big enough to house a decent-sized scientist population.
"Now. I want to begin that I have grasped a decent amount of mechanisms of how this technology works."
Everyone looked at him with bated breath as Marcus began to explain. The magnetic field resonance with the space-time continuum and vibrations behind it.
This technology has enormous potential for future FTL type uses. Vibrations can lead to the concept of space folding, which could lead to concepts of teleportation.
Marcus's words caused several of them to short-circuit their brains. Regardless, he continued with the matter at hand.
"First, the portals. They can't remain open forever. The energy is needed to recharge. Now there are means to open this from both sides. All we need is to send a pulse into the arch to kick-start the portal. To do that, a specific frequency stone needs to be used.
However, we can synthesise it." Marcus drew a couple of things on a holographic board.
"Do we know what is on the other side?" One of the curious scientists asked him.
"Ice. The portal formed at the exact same place on another Earth."
"Then… there is a city like this?"
"No. There is not. When the people were running from the cataclysms, they were not looking back."
'Now I wonder if they were running from reapers. These people were far more in tune on a spiritual level than on the material plane. Could they sense extermination happening through the whole galaxy?'
Marcus, for a second, pondered. He was one of them now. He had Code, and his Geass was far more powerful than ever before. The Emperor could sense certain things from a distance now.
'If there was some sort of amplification field, this sense could be magnified several-fold.'
"So it's almost a one-way trip?"
"No. As I said, the portal will be linked until someone destroys it. The issue is that it's at least 50 to 100 metres under ice.
The first ones to be sent will be Ice Legion bots to excavate out of that hole before we build a military base on the other side.
"...Considering the size of the portal, we won't be able to bring over our Spaceships," Lloyd commented as he realised that the upcoming conflict would be unfavourable for the Empire.
"Don't worry, we won't be fighting from the beginning. We will be infiltrating the civilisation first." Marcus smiled at them.
"Oh… I am behind that!" All of a sudden, everyone got the idea of special agents and stuff.
'They should lower their fascination with James Bond…'
Marcus chuckled to himself as he saw the females had this dreamy look of special agents…
The Emperor even looked at his wife, who wore a thoughtful expression.
"You are not going anywhere. I will be leading the expedition." The Emperor of the World said with narrowed eyes, causing Anna to pout a bit.
"At least let me visit after we have a stable connection and base there." She puffed at him.
"Fine."
"And why are you leading this expedition?" She immediately complained! He is the head of their Empire! He should be sitting on his throne and bark orders to his servants!
"Because I know this new world the best." Marcus rolled his eyes.
"You do?" Anna looked surprised.
"Indeed. This world has heavily invested in Solar Technology. In fact, they have been working on it for the past 200 years. It was so intense that some of their other technologies suffered as a result.
It's the perfect world for us to improve and perfect our Fusion Technology."
"Oh… that is a good destination."
"We will be waiting for that data, Your Majesty, for now we shall focus on Eezo and how to implement Prothean technology into our society," Lloyd said with a smile. He wasn't that interested anymore. So he will step back and focus on what they already have on the plate.
"That's the plan. I don't need scientists at the moment. We shall focus on logistics and infiltration." Marcus was well aware that his eccentric people were more interested in the new stuff than the old.
But that is, until they see what Solar Reactors can do. Tech that has been under development for 200 years is not something to sneeze at.
His Fusion tech he worked for 40 years at most, over two of his lives. And even then, it was separate development. His Gundam tech can be considered primitive, but it was Sakuradite that accelerated this process. He wondered what he could do once he got his hands on actual Gundam technology from Celestial Being?
Combining Solar Reactor tech, Sakuradite, Fusion Technology and now Eezo?
Marcus began to grin from ear to ear.
"That smile… last time you smiled like that, you caused a world war." Anna's smile was a bit strained as she recalled her time working in secrecy with her husband-to-be back then.
"Well, I was thinking how powerful our tech will be with Eezo and what I will gain… in this new world." Marcus's evil smile lessened as he looked at his wife.
"Good that your enthusiasm is back, Your Majesty."
The scientists were happy that their leader was no longer gloomy and on edge.
Truth to be told, he was nervous about the discovery of the reapers. But this despair lessened considerably because he could potentially gain access to Gundam 00 technology and unlock human potential.
He still hasn't achieved much towards human evolution. Sure, he might have achieved something akin to the sixth sense. But that's because of his Geass, Code, and the relentless training he's been going through.
'I could try to see the side effects of the blue particle; it could be stimulating brain waves if I mix it with Geass Energy.'
Well, he was pulling straws by this point until he got his hands on Solar Reactor.
