Chapter 135 - Book Two, Chapter 10: Hijacking a Quantum Computer

Marcus looked at the map of known ancient pyramids. The issue with his plan is that he has no idea if it even works.

The precursor technology is AT LEAST 10,000 years old.

Asking for any of this to work is a tall order. But the Inventor Emperor needs to test it out for the simple fact that it would make it easier to gain control of Veda. The supercomputer of Celestial Being.

That's right. Veda uses brainwaves to operate and interact with its terminals. Marcus's idea is to piggyback on that connection and hack the Quantum Computer with his Geass Energy with the help of a Consciousness Amplifier.

But first, he needs to find a working pyramid.

After spending a week learning carving with the help of his Geass and spending a fortune on Limestone plates

Marcus took a complete Command Tablet and flew around the world with his Tiranis to find an operating Pyramid.

First, he went to the Yucatan Peninsula in Central America, in Mexico, where countless Pyramids are located.

'Let's see if this works.'

The Emperor looked down from his 360-degree cockpit as he used the augmented sensors of his Mobile suit to locate stone constructs.

Eventually, he found decent size one, the most stable-looking.

Without wasting anymore time, he swiftly landed his Gundam and got out with the limestone tablet.

Marcus swiftly rushed up the steps to the top and looked around.

His eyes perked up when he saw a slot in the ground. This was where the tablet should slide into the construct.

With the slot located, he began cleaning it so the command tablet he prepared could slide in.

He knew the diameter of these tablets, so he prepared just the right size.

But the issue is whether the pyramid would even work!

To test that, Marcus tried to kick-start the pyramid by channelling his Geass Energy.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Fuck…"

The Emperor swore under his breath as he pulled out the tablet, out and got down the pyramid steps and got back into his mech before flying away to locate another decent-looking construct.

Eventually, after several hours, he went to Peru. The most mysterious place when it comes to Precurson Human Civilisation.

A while later, he eventually located the complete-looking pyramid so far.

He swiftly scrambled to test it out. After cleaning the dust and rubble from the tablet slot on a pedestal, he placed the limestone in its place.

*Tremble*

Marcus's eyes perked up. He swiftly channelled more of his Geass energy, and the whole place trembled even more.

Bit by bit, the carvings on the pyramids manifested for the first time in many centuries, the energy washed over, and the whole pyramid seemed to recover to some extent.

Then, all of a sudden, a pillar of light erupted from the top section.

The Consciousness Amplifier was on!

"Marvellous. This is what I call sturdiness!" Marcus commented as he walked into the pillar of light.

The next thing he felt like he was yanked out of his body and was standing in the void overlooking planet Earth.

Only this time it was a different kind of Earth, with a huge solar energy-gathering system around it.

But this was not why he was here. He focused on the moon and the Quantum Computer on its dark side.

'Gotcha. Now…'

Marcus's eyes began to glow as he activated his Geass.

'Marcus Justinian Anaheim, Commands you to obey…'

His Geass glowed brighter as his Geass Energy slammed into the Quantum Computer via the Brainwaves.

All of a sudden, the red energy fermented through the whole system as the core programming went haywire.

With the help of the Consciousness Amplifier, his mind was stronger than a mere Quantum Computer. If it were a simple piece of tech and not an advanced piece of hardware, it could have easily ignored this. But this computer was built with the ability to interact with a human mind.

~~~
"Hmm… I lost connection with Veda." A girl said to a fellow girl. They were working on a certain piece of equipment aboard a docked ship.
"Is it the signal again? Ugh…" The other girl groaned for a second.
"If this doesn't work properly, how are we going to start our interventions?" The girl complained to the pinkette next to her.
As the girl complained, the screens returned to normal.
"Oh. It's back! It's okay now."
"...Yes!" the girl who had just complained looked happy that it, in fact, does work!
The pair didn't realise that something had gone wrong with their central computer.
~~~

When Marcus opened his eyes, the pillar of light was gone, and there was a bit of rumbling in the background, the aftermath of the Consciousness Amplifier.

The Inventor Emperor smirked as he got it. He hacked Veda. No more like took it at a fundamental level. He rewired the whole thing, making it his computer.

Now that he has it, he can relax and watch as Celestial Being unites the world for him.

"Simply marvellous. Once I have Veda's schematics I will rebuild Legion into a Quantum Computer with a biological Interface." Marcus said to himself.

To ensure it's protected against even basic threats like hacking, the Emperor will base its security on Geass energy. Not many even understand how it works. Only a proper biological mind can produce this energy, so something like basic artificial intelligence will have a hard time hacking, especially remotely.

At least in theory…

With that in mind, he went back to his Mobile Suit and was about to set course to his Penthouse in Tokyo.

Now that he knows how to access it and has Master Controls, he can start slowly data mining this thing.

The schematics, blueprints and the rest of the things are in the databanks. While rebuilding from scratch takes time, he does have time, but he wants proper physical hardware too!

One of the GN drives is something he wants to get his hands on. Sure, he could build from scratch, and he will once he has the data, but having an actual Gundam piece of tech from the proper Gundam universe is like an art collection from a painter.

He needs to add it to his Knightmare Collection, which he has in his Palace.

As his mobile suit was close to Japan, he noticed that the limestone tablet he had still glowed with red light.

"..." Marcus stopped flying and inspected it more closely.

'...I see… I see… to hold Veda under my thumb, this tablet is directly connected via Geass Energy.

Such simple yet complex technology. A rock with energy can hold a quantum computer under its thumb.'

With such a discovery, he turned his mobile suit south, towards the South Pole.

~~~
The South Pole base was slowly growing, with each portal opening, more and more personnel and mobile suits were transferred.
By this point, they had barracks for troops, hangars for Mobile Suits, a research post, and, of course, a barrier that hid them from the outside world.
The troops stationed here were elites among elites alongside a single G-Force Gundam that rotates every week.
The troops were first from the Super Soldier program that Marcus' A.S.P was working on. The Empire took the best regulars and made them go through gruelling training, and they were among the first to have Geass Implants.
These Artificial Geass were the first of those who could use Absolute Battle Sense. An augmented sense for battle. In other words, it was a simplistic version of Cornelia's Geass.
"Hmm…" Suzaku looked at the sky as he saw a familiar mobile suit land in front of the hangars. The doors opened as this machine walked inside.
"I do wonder what he found about this world." He is curious about the current state of this Earth. He read the reports; he was a bit baffled that even 200 years into the future from their time, people still had conflicts.
'Turns out that Lelouch was right.' He shook his head, he was a bit dissapointed how this world ended.
But they do have huge humanoid machines.
They were nothing like their Mobile Suits or Knightmares.
"Suzaku. Is it your turn this week?" Marcus walked over. He was dressed in casual clothes. It was a bit strange to see the Emperor without a damn crown or dressed in purple and black imperial robes.
"Yes. This week is mine to guard this place." The brown-haired knight slightly bowed to his Emperor.
"I see." Marcus motioned for him to follow him.
"Did you find something interesting that you returned to the base?" The Knight asked.
"You could say that." The Emperor showed him the limestone tablet he was carrying.
"The letters are glowing red…" Suzaku pointed out the obvious.
"Obvious aside, I need to take this into a secure location." Marcus rolled his eyes at him, pointing out the obvious.
"...Is it some sort of relic? We should bring it back to Constantinople if not to Lagrange 3."
"No. This thing can't leave this reality, because I used the Precursor civilisation's means to hack a Quantum Computer."
"...Quantum Computer!? Even we don't have those!"
"Indeed. I used Geass to rewire it so it would answer to me. But as you can imagine, this is what is keeping it in my control, for now." Marcus placed it under his hand.
"Once I make a terminal, it will be pernament addition to the Empire, and I can make a Quantum Computer of my own." He motioned for the Knight to follow him.
"...How did you even find something like that. There were no reports of such technology." Suzaku was confused. Their drones were quite invasive in their scouting. The best these people could do is average-level AI. Something that the Empire's Legion could overpower.
"That's the thing. Make a call, Suzaku, let the girls and the personnel gather; it's time to address the hidden elephant in the room.
"...As you wish."
~~~

After hiding the limestone tablet away, Marcus went to the centre room of one of the research stations. He began to address his researchers, soldiers, knights and girls who joined him via holographic call.

"As I was suspecting, this world was suffering from something called Brain drain.

This is a term used when one nation takes another nation's talents.

But instead of a nation, we have a secret organisation that was doing it."

Marcus, with a hand motion, pulled up countless records of talented people disappearing over the past 200 years on hologram screens.

"That's quite a drain…" Marrybell commented with wide eyes.

"Indeed. They all were working for an organisation called Celestial Being, they were developing this."

All of a sudden, Marcus accessed something that piqued everyone's curiosity.

They saw footage of cone shapped engine of some sort emitting green particles.

"This is a Solar Reactor that is emitting what is called GN particles. It's similar, if not better, than what we have with our Gravity particle."

"No way… are you saying that our top-of-the-line technology is inferior?"

"No. What I am saying is that this particle stimulates brainwaves, causing a natural evolution in one's brain.

Making a person reach the next stage."

"...You mean they become psychic?" Euphemia commented as she realised that this was what Marcus wanted from the very beginning.

"Indeed. In the databanks, they call it Innovators. What is interesting for me is that we could cross our technologies.

These cone-shaped reactors might generate perpetual energy, but they lack our mastery over gravity. Where we access it directly, they access it as a side effect make it a lesser variation of it."

Marcus showcased the two technologies side by side.

~~~
As the Emperor was showcasing the technologies side by side.
On the other side of the Earth's Sphere inside an asteroid colony, something strange happened.
[If you see this message, then Veda has been compromised.]
A video of a bald man sitting on a chair in front of a camera appeared. This man had an intellectual aura around him.
[My Veda was built with the intention to assist Celestial Being, not outsiders whims, that is why…]
