Chapter 145 - Book Two, Chapter 20: Working on Improving The Flag

"Eww. You need a shower!" Milly complained as she tried to hug and kiss her husband for the first time in three days. However, it turns out he smells of sweat.

"Yeah. I have been busy." He replied with an eye roll.

"Anyway, wait for me here, I will take a shower and change my clothes." The Emperor grabbed the provided spare clothes and went to the changing rooms in the hangar section.

The whole facility was already in quite a good state when Marcus got his hands on it. The military made sure he got his workspace in order as soon as possible.

As Marcus was gone, Milly turned her gaze on Jeanne, who stood behind her in a black suit.

"What do you think about those mobile suits?" She asked with a lazy tone.

"They look inferior even to Glasgows." The knight girl said with a bored tone.

"Yes, well, we need to play along, for now. Once Marcus succeeds in improving them and starts to rise in ranks…well, you know the rest." Milly smiled while saying that. There is a touch of amusement in her tone as she plays the villain's supportive wife.

"I understand, there is no need for you to explain yourself…Your— Ma'am." Jeanne almost slipped and called her by her title.

"Fufufu, still need to get used to?" Milly joked, finding her professionalism a bit amusing sometimes.

"...Yes. This world is a bit strange." The girl sighed in resignation; the very idea of a world without nobility was strange to her.

"Well, that's just how it is." The blonde sat in a comfortable seat in the changing room, took off her sun hat, and opened the basket she'd brought over. It was full of sandwiches.

"Do you want one?" The Empress offered Jeanne some food.

"...Umm… I will wait once… my boss eats his fill first."

"If you say so." Milly shrugged as she started to munch on her food.

Around ten minutes later, Marcus left the shower and then strolled over and sat down next to Milly.

"Much better." His wife immediately snuggled next to him and then gave him a sandwich.

"My thanks. So, what you have been doing?" He asked her after taking a bite. For a second, he was surprised; it tasted quite good.

"...Well, Euphemia ended up working as a journalist."

Marcus raised his eyebrow when he heard that. Well, that is a good position.

"And Mary?"

"She got into one of the major corporations. For now office duties, but that won't last for long." Milly showed him a knowing look. It's telling him that Marrybell has plans she most likely will Geass her way to the top.

Union corporation ladder should allow her to get close to Celestial Being's financial side. If she can do that, then they can get into position to unplug the organisation when they need to.

Once finances dry up, they won't be able to develop or fix their Gundams.

"I need her in banking. If she can get deep in that sector, we could strike at the core of Celestial Being when we need it." Marcus said with a thoughful look.

'There is one person that I need ensnare. Once I have her, I could dismantle Celestial Being.' Marcus smiled as he recalled a certain Chinese Heiress. That girl single-handedly assisted Celestial Being with her money.

The sheer amount of wealth she threw at them, driven by her desire to change the world, is absurd. All that poor girl needs is a couple of hugs—something he can provide.

Besides, he has a solution to her issues, he can offer new life in his world.

No responsibilities, no high standard to live up too. A perfect solution.

"That is a naughty move~ do you need me to pass the message?" She smiled at him as she slightly leaned forward into his side.

"I think I will play the role of concerned wife and be your manager. I think it's better than working in officer and people in military will think that you are just a genius and not genius with alternative goal." She winked at him.

"I suppose, people think a bit different once they know that I have a lovely wife and all I want is to make sure she is living a good life," Marcus concluded that it would be for the best if he had Milly around all the time like a proper wife.

"Indeed, that is why I request we go on a date from time to time." She said with a small pout. " You owe me that much."

"As my Empress wishes."

"Once the Flag is done, we can take a weekend off and do married couple things." He winked back at her.

"W-Whole weekend!?" Milly gawked as she felt dread!

"...Y-You will use your cheat powers to keep your stamina up! N-Not fair!"

The blonde realised that he was using his code to regenerate his stamina! It's not fair for a normal human like her!

"It is my duty to make sure you are satisfied, Milly." His hand went to her waist as he pulled her on his lap and proceeded to hug her from back.

The blonde's cheeks heated up as she recalled what he did to her.

"...I-I see…"

"That's quite a wife you got there, Marcus," Graham smirked when he saw the Inventor walk out from the restroom. His wife and the bodyguard had already left the hangar.

"I have known Milly since my childhood days. Our parents knew each other." The Emperor smiled while saying that.

"Oh, you are a lucky one."

The Inventor nodded at the comment as he offered the contents of the basket.

"I have some sandwiches left, you want one?" He offered a triangle-shaped double sandwich.

"...Oh, sure." Graham was a bit surprised, but he did take it. After taking a bite, he looked shocked, then inspected it.

"This is good. Your wife knows how to cook!"

"I guess she can cook when she puts her mind to it. But most of the time it's me who is doing it." Marcus shook his head, recalling all the times he was the one who had to do it while she would smirk and watch him from the side. This was in their early days, not when he was the Emperor of the World.

"You can cook as well?" Billy walked over as he heard the conversation.

Instead of answering Marcus pulled out another sandwich and offered to him.

"One moment, I will wash my hands first."

The Inventor nodded as he then answered the previous question.

"To answer your question, yes, I like my BBQ and burgers. But yes, I can cook an array of things as its similar to putting things together." He smiled; he wanted to say it's similar to mobile suit assembly, but he was supposed to be a newbie in that regard.

"Hah, you are the first to say that. I never heard anyone compare technology to cooking." The blonde man laughed after hearing that comparison. He found it amusing. The more he stays with this guy, the more he likes him. Honestly, inviting Marcus Anaheim to MSWAD was the best thing Billy has done so far.

"You need to think outside the box, Graham." Marcus smiled a bit as he handed over the basket with sandwiches to him as he went over to several laptops that were connected to the Flag's computer.

"Like this." He pointed at the updates unfolding on the computer.

"I am replacing the OS with my custom Legion OS."

"...And what is the difference?" He asked while chewing on a sandwich.

"Basically, before your suit only had basic neural interface, meaning that the suit would try to move where you want. When you were imagining taking a turn to the left, you would send an intent, and your Flag would do that.

The control sticks and pedals would do the rest." He explained to him before explaining the difference.

"But now, with Anaheim Neural interface and Legion OS, the machine will be able to read your intent with multi-layered AI assistance.

In other words, you will be able to kick and punch literally just by thinking."

*Cough*

*Cough*

*Cough*

Graham smacked his chest a couple of times as he needed to grab a bottle of water.

Marcus deadpanned for a couple moments as Billy walked over and looked at the blonde's antics with similar deadpan gaze.

But then he looked at the Inventor Emperor.

"What you just said is groundbreaking. If a mobile suit can do that… our Flags will be head and half above any other mobile suit in the world.

'Except Gundams.' The Emperor added that in his mind.

"Yes. But we are not here yet." Marcus nodded before walking over and bringing over a briefcase. He laid it on the table and opened it. Revealing cables and some sort of device.

"This is a prototype device for prosthetics. It will read Graham's spine; we need to collect his neural system readings.

In other words, the AI needs to use this data to learn how to read his spine's readings."

"I see… that does make sense. It's the next step. Before this, we would use extremely basic technology. The AI assistance we always considered, but the premier expert in this field mysteriously disappeared many years ago." Billy explained to Marcus, making him smile mysteriously, as he knew where this individual disappeared.

"Thankfully, I do know a thing or two. Prosthetics is something I am well versed."

"You are?"

"Indeed, I fixed my sister's broken legs a while back."

"!"

"I-I see… I never heard about that." Billy looked surprised as by this point Graham returned.

"Impressive. So, what do I need to do?" The blonde pilot asked, as he heard all the stuff about Marcus fixing his sister. Now that impressed him!

"You will put this gear on and will be doing some sports for several days. I suggest intense activities like basketball, running, and climbing. We need sports where you use all of your limbs." he pulled from the briefcase a plastic and metal thing that looked like a spine with cables.

"Understood."

"Great, Then Bill help me put this prosthetic on Graham." Marcus looked at his helper in this project.

"Sure. Though why do you call me Bill?" The mobile suit developer asked curiously; it appeared Marcus had given him a nickname.

"Why not? It sounds cooler. Anyway, Graham, we need your back." The Inventor motioned for him to give them his back.

"We need your shirt off, naked back is the best in this situation."

"...Alright."

After putting the prosthetics Graham went to find some soldiers who would play basketball with him. In the meantime, Marcus returned to the upgrades, reworking the limbs and joints for the Flag. He used synthetic sakuradite; it's the best counter to GN-powered frames. While not as good, it can keep up.

After assembling the frame, it was time for the engines and thrusters. For this, Marcus used two batteries instead of one big one.

A solid-state battery that directly injects energy is superior to replaceable ones, so there won't be any lag from the engine and thrusters.

The secondary battery will power the primary one and serve as auxiliary support.

This solution was basically min-maxing the whole situation: he will drain the suit to its maximum, but it will take longer to charge, and it will run for longer.

The next were pseudo-Ion thrusters. The battery is not there yet, so the best they can get is a primitive form of thruster that predates even his Setanta models.

But it will be good enough, as the Flag was not meant to resemble his old Setanta. Those suits could cross the globe in mere hours. The Flag is supposed to be a fighter with a carrier as its base.

"It's coming together nicely," Marcus commented as he looked at how armour was being put on the limbs. The only thing left is the Anti-G Force cockpit.

A cockpit that can negate some of the G-Force.
