Just as I was about to grab Evelin's phone, I froze.
The thought hit me hard: 'If I actually snoop through her phone like this, wouldn't I just be adding another secret between us?
'She'd hate that.
'She promised she'd fill me in after a few days.
'I just need to be patient and let her share when she's ready.'
I exhaled slowly, pulling my hand back as I studied Evelin's peaceful sleeping face. "Evelin, I won't do anything to hurt you again."
Evelin's POV
A few days later, exactly as we'd planned, I wired thirty million into the target's account while my tracking program ran silently in the background.
Just like I expected, the target immediately started splitting the funds into smaller chunks and moving them out.
This was the moment I'd been waiting for.
Time to hunt them down and pinpoint their exact location.
Tracing those emails had only gotten me as far as Bonnie City.
That's where the trail went cold. I couldn't dig any deeper.
