Grace's expression flickered for just a moment before she plastered on that fake smile of hers. "You should thank me for not rescuing anyone. If I'd actually saved someone, that would've meant you screwed up. Didn't you realize? My chopper was trailing right behind yours that day. When I watched you pull those people to safety, I could finally relax. I was terrified something would go wrong for you."

"Oh really?" I arched an eyebrow, feigning sudden understanding. "So you were the one in that helicopter just floating there behind me, going absolutely nowhere? I figured maybe you were too chicken to get any closer because those island winds were too much for you to handle."

The jab hit its mark—Grace's face went crimson.

"Evelin, that's uncalled for. Grace was simply waiting to see what would happen. If you couldn't pull off the rescue, she would've swooped in to help!" Grey jumped to Grace's defense.
